Implications of restarting EV services and DA Accelerator services
Hi Environment is EV 9.0.2 We currently restart the following EV services nightly: Enterprise Vault Task Controller Service Enterprise Vault Storage Service Enterprise Vault Shopping Service We do this for historical reasons as we did it in our older EV8 environment, I believe it was to clear up MAPI sessions andkeep the system running more smoothly. Is this still necessary? Does restart these EV services impact DA searches and exports? What's the impact? Does restarting the DA Accelerator service impact DA searches and exports? What's the impact? thanksSolved3.9KViews0likes10CommentsData Insight Self SErvice Portal
Hello, I'm looking for guideance, help and understanding around the Data Insight Self Service Portal. More specifically use cases, how are you using this product? Another question: How can I schedule my workflows to happen on a re-occuring basis? Once the workflow is terminated as complete it seeems I have to create another workflow. Which in my mind could lead to a large number of workflows in the system. The documentation seems to be pretty light on this product. Hello, I'm working w/ a customer on a Data Insight implementation and a question the customer has, is there a way, or even a reason to limit the users that Data Insight imports through Active Directory. The customer has a large # of disabled accounts and or service accounts so we are wondering if in the AD import we could limit the users that it processes? Or even better should we limit the users the AD import processes? Thanks in advance,550Views1like0CommentsDA 11 no customer database update
Unfortunately I did not follow these instructions from the beginning. So I started to install a dedicated EV 11 server from the install media by using the install wizard. This server came on top to our 3 server environment with EV 10 (plus additional SQL server), where each server got a dedicated task. One for FSA, one for indexing, one for archiving. In general I wouldn't mix up the EV versions, but as the DA server holds non of the above mentioned services and we are going to upgrade to EV 11 in the near future I decided to install the EV11 basics with DA 11 Then I followed the instructions here above and I could go through it smoothly. I could successfully create a customer database, but interestingly the database is not able to update. Error message in evbaadmin: ExecuteNonQuery requires an open and available Connection. Hi, We are performing DR failover testing and would like the EV and CA servers to be in backup mode. It is straight-forward to put EV into backup mode. We do have journaling connector installed and random sampling enabled. Anyone know how to do it for CA without shutting down the CA Admin service? The conern is we don't want the default sampling runs to happen at 8pm and 1am. But we do want to bring up CA on the DR server to test. I see there is an option to uncheck "Enable background processing of captures items". Would that stop the pre-smapling and sampling from running at the prescribed times? I have a question. We are using Data Insight 4.5.1on our SharePoint 2010 sites. We have a large SharePoint farm and do not scan all of the sites. We have loaded the WebApps to DI and within each WebApp we selectively scan specified site collections. In the DI 4.5 User guide (link below) under the Category "About Data Insight reports", there is a note (see below). We have not done a "full scan of a SharePoint server", only selected site collections. Does this mean that the reports are not accurate? In what way would they be inaccurate? Thanks, Connie https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/SDI/4.5/windows/productguides/html/sdi_user/sdi_ref_reports.htm About Data Insight reports Note: If a full scan of a filer server, share or a SharePoint server has not been completed at least once, the data in the reports may not be accurate.704Views0likes1CommentData Insight - backlogged files
We are running Data Insight 4.5, with multiple indexer/collectors doing file scans and Fpolicy across nearly 2 dozen netapps. Is there a 'best method' to address the lag between an event occurring (such as a file being deleted from a filer) and when the event shows up in Data Insight? We are running our indexers/preprocessors at 30min, but our file backlock for most things remains over an hour. We are not hitting much utilization on our collectors (averaging 3% cpu utilization and 40% memory on 64bit 12gb ram 8-core server2008r2). On the performance section, the backlog size is generally 30-100 files, 10mb-20mb.Solved1.4KViews3likes3Comments
