CASO Server Down/Unavailable
Hello I have 2 3600 appliances in my company. Both in different sites. We are backing up servers locally to each and duplicating jobs between both devices. One of the servers is alsolicensed with the enterprise server option (CASO). My problem is that my appliance running the CASO license has fallen over and died. The other appliance is running fine , however all the backupexec services have stopped on it and we cannot connected to it. How can I move my enterprise server option license to this MMS server and start recovering/backing up again ? Regards F1.4KViews3likes14CommentsBEA RemoteApp Disconnected-Wrong server name in RDP
I have a new BEA 3600 running Backup Exec 2012 and it cannot create a good RDP. The RDP it creates has the wrong server name. I connect to the Appliance. Click on Manage then Remote Launch. Click Backup Exec Administration Console Utility. If I save the BkupLnch.RDP file to my computer and rename it with the extension .TXTI can open it in Notepad. I can see the server address is incorrect. If I fix the server name and save it then rename it back to RDP it works. How do I fix this on the BEAAppliance so the RDP's work when created? *******Here is a copy of the RDP. It has the wrong address in the "Full Address:" line. We have implemented BackupExec 3600 R2 appliances at remote sites as Managed BackupExec Servers (MBES) with a separte BackupExec 2012 SP3 server at main site as Central Admin Server (CAS). We have the following backup definition created from the MBES: 1. Take local backups to BE appliance dedupe pool. 2. Duplicate (Optimized Duplication-Shared dedupe pool of CAS) these backup sets from remote site to main site (2nd Stage). We then need to do another duplicate job for images (Monthly/Yearly) on the CAS to go directly to the attached tape library. Your valuable inputs are very much appreciated. How can we satisfy this requirement? Thank you in advance,Solved980Views0likes7CommentsBest Practices for Implementing Two Backup Exec Appliances
Greetings to the well of knowledge... I recently purchased two BE3600R2 appliances running BE2012. My intent is to have one appliace running locally in our main office for our regular backups and another located at one of our remote sites for replication and disaster recovery purposes. I am looking for best practices for implementing such a structure. My environment is currently backing up four file servers and two SQL Server instances. I am doing weekly full backups on Saturdays and incremental backups on weeknights for the file servers. I am doing weekly backups on Saturdays, transaction log backups every hour from 8A to 5P, and nightly differentials at 6 PM. How can I best take advantage of the second appliance to ensure that I have reliable DR backups? Regards, Ken Carter TILL, Inc.Solved859Views0likes2CommentsCASO
My goal is to use optimized/shared deduplication to replicate server backups between my two sites and be able to restore those backups and local backups during a vpn failure or site failure. If site A is down, I want to recover site A servers to site B. If site B is down, I want to recover site B servers to site A. SO I am thinking of caso, but is bidirectional replication is possible for CASO. In my test environment I tried to share both dedup storage. I am able to replicate from A to B but not from B to A. When i tried to do it from B to A the shared dedup storage A showing Paused at B site. SO CASO support bidirectional replication/ duplication.?? Hi folks, I have two 3600 R2's , have promoted one to CAS w/o problem, but trying to make the other a MBES (steps as outlined in Admin Guide) gives an error after entering the CAS Server: the SQL instance complains about invalid credentials for the SQL DB. I made sure the service account is the same on both appliances. Any other idea? BertSolved800Views0likes8CommentsCASO for Backup exec appliance

Hi, I am having two BE appliance one at primary site and other at DR. primery site contains 8 servers with overall size of 2 TB and DR contains 9 servers with approx the same 2 TB. On both appliance I am taking backup of one fileserver having size 1 TB alone. I want rplication of my data between these two appliance. If i use CASO and MMS then replication of such huge data will chockup my network. SO i need solution over the possible way of replication without distrubing my network. My main concern is about Fileserver having size 1 TB for replication. IN CASO and MMS can we only replicate the Full backup only ?? Need solution.Solved676Views0likes2CommentsCentral Admin Server - Media Slots appear empty
Good Morning. I am currently in the process of setting up and configuring 9 new BE Appliances we recently purchased to replace our current Backup Exec environment. One of the Appliances has been configured to operate as a Central Admin Server however I am having issues whereby when I attempt to view the media within any of the tape libraries there is nothing displayed (see below). When I log onto the local Backup Exec appliance I am able to view and confirm that the media is present in each slot. Having not experienced the CASO environment previously I am unsure if this is typical behaviour - I am assuming that I should be able to view what media in stored within each Slot from the Central Admin Server. I should add that I have enabled the correct tabs within the 'Library Slot Details' Screen (Media Label, Media Description, Barcodes etc.) and that if I goto the online tape media tab within Storage I can view the media currently online for all the appliances. Is therea simple tab/option/radio box I need to enable to see this content? Thanks657Views0likes4CommentsAppliance 3600 replication
