Ready; No idle devices are available
I'm new to Symantec Backup Exec as I've taken over the duties of someone else that left the company. The problem that I'm having is I can't get Backup Exec to backup anything, not to tape, not to a shared drive, etc.. Logically I would have thought the issue was that the previous employee had used his account for all Symantec functions, I was able to change his account information for all the services and the connection to the server. Everything appears to be fine, I'm able to do a Test Run without any problems but when I go to do a backup I don't receive any alerts I just get a message that says "Ready; No Idle devices are available". Same result no matter where I try to backup to. Anyone seen this before, have any suggestions of how I can fix it? We're using Backup Exec 2012 S1a. Hi, our customer's BE server is BE 15 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Std. All the clients are Windows clients (Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Windows 7 Pro). Some of the clients are in different subnets than the BEserver. Between those clients and the BE server, there are physcial firewalls. We have opened ports in the firewalls based on our past experiences with BE 2014. However, we found the backup jobs of these clients failed. We did sometroubleshooting andfound the BE server seems use some random ports (from 5xxxx to 6xxxx) to communicate with the clients. As these ports are not open, the backup jobsfailed. My questions are: 1) What are the required firewall ports to open on the phsycial firewall for BE 15? Bi-directionly or one direction? 2) Is there a way in BE to limitthe BE server to communicate to the client via specific ports? Thanks in advance.Solved12KViews1like3CommentsError 1068 when attempting to start BackupExec
Hi, I have installed backupExec 2010 on my Windows Server. I keep getting Error 1068: Dependency group failed to start. Some facts: -SQL Server is running (I run Hyper-V and to access VMs, my SQL Server must be running). -I have the domain account set with administrator, domain user and domain admin rights. -I was even able to login before but all of a sudden, not anymore. What could be wrong? Thanks11KViews1like7CommentsCan you export BE config and import it to new server?
Hello, my question is does BE version 12 or 2010(sorry cant remember) have the ability to export it's configuration (to include jobs and policies) and then import that info into a new installation? I have a customer that is using BE inside a VM as well as a bunch of other applications that are starting to make the VM perform bad. He wants to create a new VM and move the BE config to it. I do not know this product and i am unsure if this is possible. If it is possible, i would think some of the steps would be like this: 1 Export Config 2 Create new VM 3 Install BE on new VM 4 Import Config Is this even possible? I am trying to see if we can aviod having to recreate all the backup policies Thanks for your help.11KViews1like8CommentsBackup jobs Hängen "In der Warteschlange"

I have a backup job that's failing with this error. Final error: 0xe000035b - The consistency check of the snapshot for the Microsoft Active Directory, ADAM or AD LDS transaction log has failed. You should check for possible data corruption in the transaction log that is online. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-859 I checked this page http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH87307&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1356620338195and it said to run a database check against AD, Adam or LDS. Adam and LDS do not apply to my situation since I'm not using them. I ran a database check against NTDS and it did not find any issues so I do not know why this error keeps popping up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Solved9.2KViews1like3Comments
