Troubles with Lanman on Fileshare
Hi there ok i have some Troubles since i made the upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 The resource lanman for a file share fails all the time, but the fileshare is working fine. First question: do i need the lanman resource for a fileshare? In the template there is the lanman too.. i see no error in the lanman.txt 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:*** Start of debug information dump for troubleshooting *** LibLogger.cpp:VLibThreadLogQueue::Dump[206] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:Listing resource (APPLP_Lanman) attributes: LanmanAgent.cpp:CLanmanAttributes::Parse[2693] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:m_VirtualName = Sharename_xxxx LanmanAgent.cpp:CLanmanAttributes::Parse[2707] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:m_IsMultiNet = 0 LanmanAgent.cpp:CLanmanAttributes::Parse[2718] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:ipAddress = xxx.xx.xx.xx, 0x414815AC LanmanAgent.cpp:CLanmanAttributes::Parse[2743] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:subnetMask = 255.255.255.0, 0x00FFFFFF LanmanAgent.cpp:CLanmanAttributes::Parse[2767] 2009/08/07 12:25:18 VCS DBG_21 V-16-50-0 Lanman:APPLP_Lanman:monitor:*** End of debug information dump for troubleshooting *** LibLogger.cpp:VLibThreadLogQueue::Dump[217] I deleted the resource and build it new but with the same result: the resource has a big red question mark There are no errors in the Eventog neither System: Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition x86 Storage Foundation HA for Windows 5.1 Thanks3KViews0likes11CommentsHow to use sf(with cluster option for MS CLUSTER)on mscs
HI My client's enviroment: WIN2008R2,mscs for sqlserver 2005,has tow disk arrays. I want to configure tow-array with mscs, but they has installed mscs and sqlserver.....so ,can I create dg and mirror volume to join the mscs, and copy sql data\log file to new volume(i will shutdown sql service first) ? if yes,how to setup? if no,what is the better way to migrate original data to sfw mirror volume? because the system is critical system, can't be reinstalled mscs and sqlserver! thanks. hope everyone know what i say! Hi, I just found this article and its quite the problem I'm facing right now: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/one-cooperation-issue-about-windows-2012-r2-failover-cluster-and-sf-cluster-shared-disk-group I created a new Windows Server 2012 R2 Failover Cluster with several mirrored Disks in DynamicDiskGroups in StorageFoundation. As a next step, I wanted to add the Diskgroups from SF as a Ressource to my Failover Roles. Actual scenario: Cluster Role Name: C0002Z DiskGroupName in SF: DG_C0002Z_1 Then I added a Ressource to the Cluster Role via Add Resource -> More Resources -> Volume Manager Disk Group I changed the Name of the VMDG in "General" to "DG_C0002Z_1", apply, ok. Then I wanted to add the Name of the DiskGroup in Properties -> Properties -> DiskGroupName of the VMDG to "DG_C0002Z_1". And thats where I dont get any further. It doesn't matter which Name I want to enter into DiskGroupName, theres always this Error: There was an error saving properties for 'DG_C0002Z_1'. Failed to execute control code '20971654'. Error Code: 0x800700a0 One or more arguments are not correct I also tried to enter Names without special characters but that doesnt help eather. Do you have any Idea how to fix or bypass this issue? We are running SFHA v5.1 for Windows 2008 R2 and we would like the floating virtual IP assigned to resource group to the be the source IP of the node instead of the default IP assigned to the interface. I'm a little fuzzy on how Windows chooses which IP is the source IP if there are multiple IP's assigned to an interface, but I was wondering if there is any configuration setting that can be chosen within SF. This is important because the firewall team only wants to allow through the VIP of the resource group.Solved2.2KViews1like3CommentsStorage Foundation 5.1 and MSCS not working
Hi. We want to use Storage Foundation 5.1 to manage our dual path disk. We are clustering MS BizTalk 2006 so we need to use MSCS to Cluster BizTalk. Problem is that MSCS cannot see the disk group created in SF. We are using Windows 2003 Enterprise Server R2 We installed SF first and the disk groups appear fine. Then we tried to configure MSCS and it could not see the disk. During some investigation we discovered we needed the MSCS Option, so we added our "VRTS STORAGE FOUNDATION OPTION MICROSOFT CLUSTER 5.1 WIN FOR OS TIER ENTERPRISE EDITION STD LIC" license key and it indicated that the MSCS option is available. However, when we go back to Add/Remove programs to select this option, it does not appear as a choice in the add/remove SF options. How should we proceed? Is there a seperate plug in we need to download or should it appear in the list of options in the SF installation screen? Do we need to have MSCS configured before we install SF so it can detect it? Any advice would be appreciated. WarrenSolved1.9KViews0likes4Commentsshutdown and restart Cluster with VEA
Hi all, I have to shutdown our Hardware for a while. Now I'm looking for the best way to do that. I have two storage SAN's connected to two hardware micosoft clusternodes(Windows Server 2003) with VEA 3.2. I will shutdown the sytsems this way: 1. passive Cluster node 2. aktiv cluster node 3. first san controller 4. second san controller 5. both storage's 6. FB switche and the restart this way: 1. FB switche 2. both storage's 3. both storage san controller 4. both cluster node's Are there any things i have to regard? Do the VEA start the to resync after the restart for hours? or it will only reconnect. I hope you can help me. Thank you!1.8KViews0likes3CommentsStorage Foundation 3.2.542.0 error message
Hi all, we have a veritas enterprise administrator runnning on windows 2003 server cluster running. Now i see an exclamation mark on some volumes and hd's. If opne a volume and see one of the disks i see this alerts: Warning V-76-58645-1000 Aler Propagated and Error V-76-58645-1080 Subdisk Detached If i take a look on my SAN it seems that all HD's are ok. At the moment I'm not really know what it means and what i have to do. Can anyone help me here? Or i have just to reactivate the harddisks? or just du cluster turn to the other cluster node? Hi all, Some time ago we experienced a total network failure between our to Datacenters. This failure only took place for a couple of seconds but it resulted in a active node and a node that was trying to start all instances. When connectivity was restored both nodes stopt working (to prevent splitbrain) My question: Is there a way to increase the timeinterval that dictates the nodes to take action in such a case? e.g.That the inactive node only starts when connectivity is lost for more than 5 minutes. We are considering options for clustering Windows (2k3R2, 2k8R2, X64) nodes that are actually VMware VMs (ESX 4.1). Is there documentation that describes setting this up, and what limitations might exist? For example, does usingcluster effectivelykill the ability to VMotion? Do you have to use RDMs for storage? Sorry for being vague, I don't know enough (yet) to ask targeted questions. Thanks in advance!Solved1.7KViews1like4CommentsV-76-58645-585: Failed to reserve a majority of disks in cluster dynamic disk group
Hi Everyone, Am getting the following error when trying to import a disk group as a cluster disk group: V-76-58645-585: Failed to reserve a majority of disks in cluster dynamic disk group Disk is able to import as a dynamic disk group but not as a cluster disk group. Platform is Windows Server 2003 SP2 32bit. SFWHA version is 5.1 SP2. Have following the steps on this technote (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH88082) but issue still persists. The hardware is a small PC that has three seperate SATA hard disks (no RAID controller). OS resides on one disk while the rest of the two disks are in a single DG. To trouble shoot, also removed one disk from DG but the clustered import fails. Cluster has a single node only. Have enabled UseSystemBus attirbute as well. Tried force import option too. Is there a hardware limitation in place here? Does any one have any suggestions (to isolate the issue)? Thanks. WBR, SWSolved1.7KViews0likes9Comments
