Call Detail Record (CDR)
Hi there, has anyone of you had some experience with CDR's. CDR's are Telco style data sets, which describe calls placed by a customer. A call detail record contains metadata – containing data fields that describe a specific instance of a telecommunication transaction, but does not include the content of that transaction, according to Wikipedia. Depending (on the no of fields captured) on the telco's definition, these files could be smaller or bigger. They are mostly zipped. I am yet to understand a bit more about it, but the questions is can Di be used to reduce the amount of primiary storage consumed here. Any comments/pointers will be appreciated. I'm working on Veritas Data Insight Version 5.1.1.8050 The help file states: “For more information about creating DQL queries, see the Veritas Data Insight SDK Programmer's Guide.” The most up-to-date copy of this document that I can find (via google) is a Symantec branded document version 4.0 dated June 2013. Is there a more up to date one? Specifically I’m interested in whether I can extract the file group (not just the extension) from queries on path. At the moment I’m extracting the extension and converting to file group in excel, but there must be a better way. The SDK document I have (2013) has a section on DQL Objects/Tables, but it doesn't reference file groups. I'm wondering if the set of available objects/tables has changed since the date of the doc.4.6KViews0likes6CommentsData Insight 3.0.1 scanning cifs.homedir share
I am trying to setup Data Insight 3.0.1 with an artificial share so I can see activity on users home shares from a NetApp filer. I have created the .pb script as mentioned in the admin guide but I am struggling finding the user id to use with the configdb.exe command: Find the user ID of a Data Insight user assigned Product Administrator Server Administrator role from the latest configuration database table in the $DATADIT/conf folder. Is this the user ID of the Server Administrator that I see in the Settings -> Data Insight Users screen? If so how do I get the user ID from Windows? ... also ... Somewhere in the script I am guessing that the line: value: "/CIFS.HOMEDIR" should containg the actual path to the home directories? Thanks folks. I am using DI 5.0.1 and I am not able to have the DQL report to output to 1 single file. Is anyone else having this issue? I have a DQL query and when I am pulling some of the AD Attributes, it will separate the files. I even have put 'format user AS csv' at the end and it still puts it into multiple files. From user get name, principal_name, login, Home_directory, Department If Home_Directory not in ('nowhere') format user AS CSV; Please help!3.2KViews1like3CommentsReport of Data Insight Users
Hi, Apology this question is related to internal tables rather than DQL, but hopefully someone on here may be able to help. I need to create an automated report or script that captures a list of the Data Insight users and their respective roles to enable regular reviews of who has access to the data insight console. We currently have a manual process using the GUI, but need to move to an unattended solution that captures this information, merges it with other records and submits the final report to an access management system where access to the Data insight console is reviewed and if necessary revoked. Data Insight config.db has a table called “matrixuser” which contains details of the user accounts such as thier login and domain names, and a table called “role” which contains details of all the roles that are available in Data Insight --- but I can’t find anything that shows which users have been assigned to which roles. Does anyone know how or where to find this Kind regards Phil.Solved2.9KViews1like5CommentsAudit log information and SharePoint reports
Hi, I am trying to determine what precisely some of my DI reports are telling me. Specifically, related to the Access details report, it is my understanding that SharePoint audit logs differentiate between a "view" (e.g., going to a site or a library) and a "read" (e.g., opening an item on a site or a library), but it does not appear that DI access reports maintain that distinction- everything appears to be a "read". So the question is: does DI differentiate between "view" and "read" events in SharePoint (2010). If so, can we create a report that shows who has accessed a SharePoint site, but not read anything? Currenty running 4.5 Data Insight, and looking for some thoughts on how to report on old data. I've been using the 'Data Aging' report, and our org needs data broken down by 1 year, 3 years, 5 years, and 7 years. Regardless of how I set the interval/bucket, it seems to keep the report at 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, 9-12 months, and older than 12. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding how to use this particular report, but I was hoping for an easy-mode report on what data falls into those intervals. thoughts?2.6KViews3likes5CommentsData Insight - report.exe high cpu
Our management server is running consistantly at 100% with two instances of report.exe equally consuming 50% each. My quess is that is updating itself from the over night scans??? This is a windows VM with 2 cores, did I undersize the vm? Looking to understand if I've misconfigured something, etc.. Thank you!Solved2.5KViews1like6CommentsSpeeding up console
Is there any configuration changes we can make on the server side to speed up the console such as browsing the workspace? Browsing the workspace is pretty slow such as getting audit data or just getting permission info. The server is not running low on memory or CPU. We're running DI 4.0.Solved2.4KViews1like2Comments
