Hi all, I was getting a few errors about a few users having index errors in the event log so I though I would have a look. This was the error I was getting for one of the users in question. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event ID 7292 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The index volume has been marked as failed. Index Volume: 1F346F1B084E5CF4F8A594A365C7223411110000vaultsite/Volume:239 (Raymond Rodriguez) Index Volume Path: H:\EVStorage\PRVAULTDB01\Indexes\Location04\1F346F1B084E5CF4F8A594A365C7223411110000vaultsite Reference: ValidateFileChecksum ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- so, what I did was at this point was check the folder mentioned and looked at the avtrace.log file, which was 0kb. Then decided that as it was failed it must need a rebuild. So in the EV Admin Console, I found the mailbox, went into the advanced tab and hit rebuild. Checking the event log I got these two messages ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event 7294 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starting index volume update Index Volume: 1F346F1B084E5CF4F8A594A365C7223411110000vaultsite/Volume:0 (Raymond Rodriguez) Index Volume Path: H:\EVStorage\PRVAULTDB01\Indexes\Location04\1F346F1B084E5CF4F8A594A365C7223411110000vaultsite Job Id: Vol_239 Job Author: MAG\vault.admin Job Description: Rebuild Index ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- then ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event 7292 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The index volume has been marked as failed. The index volume will remain inaccessible until it has been repaired. Totally gone. That users Index folder has just vaporised. Have I just made things worse for myslef? Any ideas anyone, please? I have about 7 users in this state and would ideally like to sort them all out. CheersSolved2.5KViews0likes36CommentsEnterprise Vault Backup takes a LONG time using Backup Exec 12.
Hello all, We are using EV Vault 7.5 and backing it up using Backup Exec 12 with the EV agent. Backup Exec is on the same server as the Vault DBs,but we have a separate SQL server. My problem is that the Vault backup takes a long time, specifically 13 hours for about 550GB. Within the EV agent almost everything backs up in a timely manner except "EV-PTN::\\%servername%\MailStore01\MailStore01 Ptn1@E:", which is the actual Vault DB. It backs up at around 700-750MB/min. We are backing up to a TL2000 with LTO-4 drive which can theoretically backup at a rate of 400GB/hr. When I backup a a flat file to this drive using Backup exec, it backs up at 4.5GB/min. Even other Vault data sets backup in a more timely manner, 2-3GB/min. I think it is just the actual Vault DB that is the one going to slow. I also tried backing up the DB to a disk on the server and the backup rate was the same, around 700MB/min. Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? What could be causing the Vault DB to "throttle" or limit the backup to this speed? David2.4KViews0likes14CommentsArchived Items remain in Archive Pending state
We've just completed the EV (8.0.1) install and started running a test account for archiving last week. The archiving seems to have gone fine but all the emails are still showing in a pending state (" Enterprise Vault-Pending Item" and "This item is being archived by Enterprise Vault") and have remained that way for the past week. Looking at Doc#281339 Scenario 1 it talks about Exchange System Manager needing to be the same on the Vault server and Exchange, but I cannot find in the installation requirements that ESM even needed to be installed on the Vault server. Also does the Vault Store actually need to perform a back-up for the status for the emails to change (scenario #2 of the same document.) ? I'm guessing the lack for a back-up on the store is the cause but want to confirm the ESM issue.Solved2.2KViews0likes19CommentsKVS Enterprise Vault
Hi Environment: KVS Enterprise Vault using on 2007 exchange server, client Outlook 2003. Client PC win Xp pro, service pack 3 with all updates. Problem: Problem accessing archived email, Outlook keep freezing I don know if it has anything to do with outlook express or KVS vault. I have tried and update the KVS vault 8 and it did resolve my issue but not 100%. When I click on the archived emails on outlook 2003 it freezes the whole outlook 2003 and the only thing I could do is kill the process. After applying the update now when I click the archived mail it comes up fine on the READING pane on bottom or Right in outlook, but as soon as I double click it freezes, and I have to kill the process again. any ideas would be much appriciated. What guidelines can I use in allocating disk space for single instance storage fingerprint database? The Installing and Config guide just says I should allocate space appropriately. Well, what's appropriate for a 3000 user base?Solved1.6KViews0likes2CommentsBackup EV: none of the index locations is in backup mode
Hi there, When I set my store and index location in backup modus, I receive events that both are set in backup mode successfully. However when I clear the backup state, I receive event id: 7320, none of the index locations is in backup mode I tried setting and clearing backup modus manually and by scripts, both with the same result. Backups work perfect, so must I worry about this event, or not? Thank you in advance.Solved1.5KViews0likes9CommentsHave I gone too far / vbscript crazy...
Perhaps I have gone a little too far, but here is my vbscript hta for Monitoring Enterprise Vault (Exclusively concerned with Email archiving) in one quick and easy screen. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands at the moment. Does anyone want the source for this? Jeremy.Solved1.5KViews3likes18CommentsEnterprise Vault Help Needed
I am very new to the Enterprise realm, so I might have some sill questions. Here is the problem. Have Enterprise vault that the services keep stopping because the drive its on is full. (under 6GB vault services stop) So my task is to clean up the vault. It appears the vault size currently is around 550GB. Looking at the mailboxes, it don't seem possible. So I have seen some Exchange Journals that are really large in size, However, there isnt a way to export them that I can find like a mailbox. Any ideas? Next, there are some mailboxes that I can see that I want to export then remove, BUT the services stop before I can accomplish this, thus the export fails. How can I keep the services on long enough for an export? I also believe there is a TON of archiving waiting to be done, as the other day I cleaned up some and had almost 10gb free, then it just filled right back up so far, that now its stuck here, where I can't do anything. I found a way to turn off the monitoring so the services might run for awhile, BUT if I do that and it totally fills the drive, I am up the creek. If I can remove some of the journals(110GB and 70GB in size) this will help a lot. If I do remove or move them, how can I get them back incase I ever need to? Thank!!1.5KViews0likes17Comments
