We are trying to run a test restore using VERITAS on an Oracle RMAN backup. We have an Oracle 10g database which is backed up using RMAN and VERITAS NetBackup via a backup agent on a different server to the client. On the client server, the Oracle database files are stored on a SAN (G:\) drive. This has VERITAS NetBackup Client 5.1 installed. On clicking <Select for Backup>, all drives (local and SAN), plus Oracle and the database and AS instances with their datafiles etc, are listed. However on clicking <Select for Restore>, only the local (C and D) drives are listed, Oracle and the SAN drives are not listed. Does this suggest a problem with the backup at all? I have consulted the Veritas NetBackup (tm) 6.5 for Oracle Administrator's Guide for Windows, which states that listing the Oracle backups in the Restore window is a required step. If I click on Actions -> Administer Database Templates -> Oracle, it shows a template called Oracle RAC.tpl. This file has been configured for the database being backed up. The master server uses VERITAS NetBackup Administration Console 5.1 to backup the client server over the network. The Activity Monitor option lists Oracle files backed up on the client server, but the details listed do not resemble what is listed by the RMAN command on the client. The master server also backs up some SQL-Server databases; but on the client servers, when running Veritas NetBackup MS-SQL Client, View -> Monitor Jobs provides a detailed listing of the backups on that server. Both servers run on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1 platform. Any advice gratefully appreciated please.6.7KViews0likes4CommentsError bpbrm: listen for client timeout during accept from data listen socket after 60 seconds
I keep receiving the error message in the title even though I have gone through and set my timeout settings to at least 900 seconds. I have also run all the bpclntcmd commands and all of them return appropriately. Is the 60 second timeout referred to in the error message a client side OS setting? I am running Red-Hat 5. Hi all, We have NetBackup 6.5.4 Enterprise on a SPARC/Solaris 10 server here. Personally I use the Java client (jnbSA) to admin the server from my Linux workstation but some of our guys use the native Windows admin gui (i.e. not Java gui) from their PCs to do the same. This all worked fine until last monday. I had to rearrange the network interfaces on the server in advance of creating some trunked ports for extra bandwidth to the server so I moved the main NIC for the machine (i.e. the one that the backup and admin clients talk to it on) to a different physical port - in Solaris terms I renamed the "/etc/hostname.ce0" file to "/etc/hostname.ce2" and rebooted the machine. Prior to that the ce2 interface had been used for something else but that was moved to ce0 so in effect, I've swapped the two interfaces around (and obviously the cables too). Now, the windows admin gui runs very slow at certain things, in particular accessing the media on the server - the windows guys use this for doing daily tape ejects and imports, the windows gui sits there for ages saying "Opening EMM database". It does eventually get there after a couple of minutes or so. The Java gui that Iuse still works fine, however. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, NiallSolved5.6KViews1like14CommentsOut of FS space for /usr/openv (NBU Production Server)
Ireceived an error from my Device Monitor - database system error. DSM is unable to connect to the DB, issue: connect - I have ran out of disk space and need to have our storage group "grow" more space for my FS. Netbackup 6.5.3 daemonsare currently at a "stop" state (inc. Media Servers). Iwas told that there is a temp fix from my UNIXAdmin. Iam currently "mirroring" /usr/openv. Is it possible (i'm sure, not recommended) to remove this mirror for a quick fix and continue my backups? Will Ineed to "re-zone" all my drives? Re-configure the Robot? Any insight would help. Hello NetBackup Guru's We had a Unix media server in our environment that was turned off and removed before being decommissioned properly. Now, our NetBackup Administration Console is very slow because NetBackup is always looking for this server (named DPXSCH2). I know this is the reason, because in the NBCONSOLE logs, the following entry keeps coming up over and over when trying to open the NetBackup console... hosts_equal: gethostbyname failed for dpxsch2: The requested name is valid, but no data of the r (0) There are missing drives for this old media server in the admin console (listed there but listed as missing), and they cannot be deleted. The media server is still listed in devices as well, and when you try to delete it, the following error occurs... Unable to remove device host dpxsch2 from the Enterprise Media Manager server <master>: The EMM server failed to process the request(78) You can also still see the media server when you run nbemmcmd -listhosts command. I have tried to delete the media server with the command... nbemmcmd -deletehost -machinename dpxsch2 -machinetype media ... but I get the error... NBEMMCMD, Version:6.5.3 The function returned the following failure status: generic EMM SQL error (193) Command did not complete successfully. Our environment is NetBackup 6.5.3 Windows 2003 master server 4 x Windows 2003 media servers 1 x AIX master server My question: Does anyone know how to remove a media server out of the configuration after the server is gone? -Richard HarveySolved4.5KViews0likes5CommentsVxBSACreateObject: Failed with error
