DataDomain To StoreOnce Migration
Hello, I'm a new guy in my organization and was tasked to migrate our current NetBackup (7.7.3) storage system from Dell DataDomain to a new one, HPE StoreOnce 5260. I've searched for relevant information on Google but haven't had any success. Would you be able to supply any knowledge base articles, or a detailed guide for this process? From what I understand, StoreOnce offers a plugin for Veritas. Should I install this plugin initially, or is it necessary for the migration and operation at all? Thanks for your assistance.977Views0likes3CommentsBackup policy recovering speed slowly (disk)
Dear NetBackupers, We have a NetBackup version 8.1.1 server and mostly Solaris clients for backup, server is connected with clients via LAN fibre optics and backup storage Dell EMC Data Domain 2500 is mounted via NFS to our NetBackup server also fiber optics. Our issue manifests as two specific policies interleave and the first that is run looses its backup speed and doesn't achieve max potential speed thus backup time of policy that usually finishes in 20 hours lasts around 30 hours. How could we configure client or server settings that when one of the affected policies finishes other regains max potential speed? We have done server tuning as recommended by backup storage vendor as this: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✔Include the following lines in /etc/system for TCP: set ndd:tcp_wscale_always=1 set ndd:tcp_tstamp_if_wscale=1 set ndd:tcp_max_buf=16777216 set ndd:tcp_cwnd_max=8388608 set ndd:tcp_xmit_hiwat=2097152 set ndd:tcp_recv_hiwat=2097152 for NFS: set nfs:nfs3_nra=16 set nfs:nfs3_max_transfer_size=1048576 set nfs:nfs3_bsize=1048576 set nfs:nfs3_max_threads=256 set rpcmod:clnt_max_conns=64 ✔Add the NFS client mount options "rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576" ✔NFS patch 147268-01 or kernel patch 147440-05 (or later) is installed for Solaris. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes were done on the media server of NetBackup as we had some troubles with policies speed after that speeds were better but we are still observing before mentioned problems with those two policies when they interleave and the backup speeds in my opinion are not recovering quicky enough when one of those backup policies finishes. Should we make reccomended changes on NetBackup clients also so backup speeds would recover more quickly? TLDR: We can reschedule policies with little effort but how to configure them to achieve maximum speed in less time.1.5KViews0likes4CommentsCan't fix error 2106 Disk Storage Server is down
Hello, Tried calling Veritas support on this matter but alas 7.6 is EOSL... We are backing up to Data Domains using SLPs. In an effort to access the Data Domains, an admin tried to login using the boost account and locked it. I have since re-enabled the account which I thought was the cause of the 2106 errors, but I am still getting them. nbdevquery -liststs -stype DataDomain -U shows the storage servers are down I've tried to change the state using nbdevconfig -changestate, but they still show "down" status. I've also deleted/recreated the boost account on the DDs, and did a tpconfig -update , but I can't get the storage server to come up. Not sure which logs I need to look at to resolve this issue. We have two sites with two MBES servers on each site and a single DataDomain on each site. One site has a tape library. We also have a CASO server controlling the show. We wish to replicate backups to the DD on the other site, and write the monthly backups to physical tape (located in only one site). Site1: 2xMBES + DataDomain Site2: 2xMBES + DataDomain + Library + CASO We've got the DataDomain accessed through OpenStorage (DDBoost client) all fine. I discovered that both DD have to be presented to all BE servers - so that BE can perform a DDBoost optimized replication from one DD to the other. We configured two Server Pools, so when a backup is performed on Site1, it can be directed to just one of the Site1 MBES, and the same at Site2. Backing up to DD and replicating to the other site works fine - however I'm having issues when trying to replicate to the tape library in Site2. This works OK for backup jobs that start in Site2 since the MBES in Site2 can see both DataDomains and the tape library. However - for backups in Site1, when I try and do the same, it doesn't let me do this due to none of the Site1 MBES having access to the tape library: "The Backup Exec server specified and the device/storage devices pool specified do not share any devices". What I would like to do is configure the backup & DD replication to be performed by the Site1 Server Pool, but the replication to tape to be done through the Site2 Server Pool. How can this be done?807Views0likes1CommentOracle Restore Jobs are failing with 2850 (TpErrno = Robot/LTI protocol error )
