Hi there. I'm running Netbackup 7.1 on a RHEL 5 and I'm having the error "database system error (220)" when the duplication process runs. Hello, we're having random issues where a few duplications fail each day out of an easy hundred or so. Here's our current configuration: - NetBackup 7.1.0.3 on master, all media servers, and most clients - NetBackup Disk Appliance 5020, set at production site and set at DR site, all running v1.4.1.1, and 6.6.3.49048 - Master server running on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64bit. Media servers are Windows 2003 32bit. We are backing up to our local production appliances and duplicating to the DR appliances. Several times a day, duplication jobs fail with the "media open error(83)" status message. It's appears to be the same client, dupe job runs and fails 4 times within a short period, then waits 10 hours and tries and fails again. My setup is: 1. Master/Media - On linux Pointed to tape robot 2. Media Server - Windows 2008 R2, pointed to SANPureDisk deduppool over fiber (works great). 3. Media Server -One with the issue. Windows 2008, pointed to SAN PureDisk dedup pool over iSCSI. I set up the first media server, numer 2, without any problems then recently built out a new media server, number 3,to use as a place to make an iSCSI PureDisk pool. The iscsi volume is presented, formatted and can be writter to without issues. We have it mounted as the E: drive. I installed the netbackup 7.5 software and configured the server as a media server. Then patched to 7.5.0.1. Under credentials I was able to set up the Storage Server to my new Media server with the iSCSI host. Problem is, when I go to make the disk pool the wizard says that there is not a volume available to select. After poking around doing comparisons with our working media dedup pool server I noticed my new server was lacking the dedup services. It was missing the Deduplication Engine and Deduplication Manager services. I then noticed that C:\Program Files\VERITAS\pdde on the working media server had much more files and folders than number 3. I reinstalled, and made sure when selecting additional licenses that I chose the pure disk option, this this was prior to the install the dedup files and services still did not show up. Im stumped and not sure what I might be doing wrong, the first go around was simple. Only thing I can think is that we are only licensed to have ONE dedup pool from ONE media server...Any help appreciated. -MikeSolved4.1KViews0likes6Commentsmsdp storage server configuration is failing

We are running NetBackup 7.6.1.1. We have several remote sites. Each remote site has a local media server and MSDP. We have one central site with another MSDP. We use VMware policies with SLPs to backup data in the remote sites to respective media servers before duplicating the data to the central MSDP. Some of our servers have large amounts of data and our SLP windows and WAN links are not adequate to complete the initial/full duplication jobs. While I have seen lots of discussions about seeding, most of them do not seem to apply or are quite complicated. I saw one discussion about using a Basic disk to seed the central MSDP but the details were lacking. What simple options can I use to seed our central MSDP? Something similar to this?? 1. Connect a USB drive and create a storage unit of type BasicDisk 2. Create a policy to backup data to the new storage unit 3. Execute policy 4. Detach USB drive and ship it to central site 5. Attach USB drive Then what? Do I need to expire images? Do I need to import images? While I am not new to NetBackup, I have never had to seed MSDP so any help is appreciated.Solved3.8KViews0likes15CommentsDisk Volume Pool Down (2074)
Friends, given up on fixing disk pool volume down issue after spending whole morning.. this is the typical one.. nbdevquery and nbdevconfig works successfully.. you can inventory the disk pool from.. you can see the storage configuration properties under credentials tab.. disk pool stays alive less than 10secs and it goes down.. here is the spoold logs from that path. gsrugnbapp01:/dedup_data/log/spad/gsrugnbapp01.groupservices.co.uk/spoold/spad number of errors being reported of connection reset by peer.. i can bet my brand new BMW 325D on this.. the name resolution/nslookup and everything working okay.. no problem.. this problem arose over the weeked due where the media server (built in storage) went offline in the middle of the backup due to unexpected power outage.. looking at the logs below its suggesting connection reset by peer; REceive session shutdown any suggestion will highly be appreciated. Hi, I am hoping for some guidance in the area of Symantec calculating its (Capacity Licensing on FETB- Front End Terabyte) when data is initially deduplicated to disk and then backing up the data to tape after several months. Query: If we create an SLP (Storage Life Cycle policy) that continually dedupe data from the client machine and then backing up the deduped data from disk to tape after x months, what will be the total FETB (Capacity Licensing)? Will the calculation be based onthe initial"FULL" backup of the client or the eventual dedupe amount of data (as the dedupe data over a period of timewhen cutting over to tape)? Hypothetical scenario Client A = 500 GB (Full backup) = Deduped data 50 GB on disk (Total after 3 months) What is the correct calculation when executing nbdeployutil tool? Will the total FETB be 50GB or 500GB? Any information is much appreciated! Thanks!!Solved3.2KViews2likes2Comments
