Backup Exec log files 38GB
We've had an issue with our server due to lack of free space. We've examined the contents of the drive and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\" is taking up 38GB of space. Can you tell me why it would take up this much space please? More importantly how do i cap it at say 10GB? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 on a windows 2007 sbs server. All our backups are backup to disk folders on removable drives and we backup also backup exchange and SQL. Thanks, your help is appreciated Thanks

Removing File from Backups per Legal Order
Is there a way to extract a file from backup sets permanently? I don't want to be able to recover the file ever but can't lose the older backups.

When running ClearCase on a Hyper-V VM, what are some best-practice considerations when using Backup Exec 2012? What Symantec agent licenses are required for Hyper-V backups? Do agents need to be installed on the VM or just the host? What pre/post command scripts should be run? Are there special considerations when backing up vob repositories? Is file locking necessary when using snapshot technology? Does Backup Exec work well with IBM's Multisite for disaster recovery? ...and any other tips on either CleaseCase or Hyper-V backups.

Ports to open for BE10d and Remote Agent
I have recently had to move my DB server which is a Solaris 9 OS box off of domain "A" and on to domain "B". The BE10d is installed on a Windows Server 2003 R2 EE SP2 and still lives on domain "A". The problem is now that the DB server is on a different domain from the BE server, data on the DB server is not getting backed up. I know that certain ports need to be opened, but I don't know which ones. I think I have seen something about 10000, 6101, and 50000 - 50025. Can someone please help me with this old 10d version since Symantec would rather upgrade me than to answer this question. I'm not going to upgrade this because the hardware is getting upgraded in another 3 to 4 months from now and it would not be cost effective.

Can I backup just "C" drive with System Recovery 2010?
Hi, We run Backup System Recovery 2010 and I currently backup all the drives on our Windows 2008 SBS domain controller. I think I could restore with just the Operating System Partition (C drive), i would like your opinions/advice to see if this is a viable solution? Here are the details: Physical Box (not virtualised) C drive contains Operating System Partition E contains only Exchange Partition L contains user data like Excel, Word, PowerPoint docs ect. It also contatains users redirected folders. S swap file W Wsus drive C,E, L are all backed up everynight using symantec backup exec 2010.

The Server (DC) is a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server Premium R2. The Backup device is a HP Ultium 2-SCSI The system Event Log notifies (in order of sequence, first error 15, then information 7036 en then 3 times error 7, made anonymously "xxxx") , as listed below: By the way / and maybe connected to the problem: - Strangly we don't get notifications by mail although is is implied.. - Also if I place a cleaning cadrigde the Symantec Software still mention that there's no cleaning since 4 years orso. - We had to replace the battery of the SCSI cache. SSR 2011 can not Finde the C:\
Hi I have a HP Blade system with 7. Stk BL460c G7 and 4. Stk WS460c G6. BL460 is installed whit Server 2008 X86 and the WS460 Win7 U. I have installed the SSR 2011, adding all the computers in the computer list and deployed the agents to these. when I shall schedule backup, SSR can not find C: \ drive one BL460 servers, but no problem at WS460. I connected a USB disk on one BL460 server and SSR have non peoblem to finde the USB disk Someone who has been involved in the problem. have an identical system with 70 BL460 and WS460 there is no problem. The system has an HP Smart Arry P410i controller and SSD SATA 60GB disk with RAID 1..

Enterprise Vault 7.5SP2 Centera to Centera Migration?
We are using EV2007 SP2, with an EMC Centera backend, also using collections. Due to an administrator mishap, several thousand ClipIDs were lost. EMC has been working feverishly to get the IDs reassociated with the data on the Centera. In the mean time, the Vault Stores have been moved to a second Centera and resumed. Mail archiving was unaffected, the only savesets effected were FSA objects. The shortcuts still reside on the file servers. Question is - Once EMC is able to recover any IDs and savesets, what would be the best (and easiest) way to get that data over to the secondary Centera and put in the proper place for the shortcut to work for the user? Currently, we believe this might be our best bet but I wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone had a better idea = Step 1 - Recover the ClipID, and as many savesets as possible Step 2 - Run EVCenteraChecker to unarchive that saveset into a new DVS file Step 3 - Move DVS file to new location and re-associate within database Step 4 - Verify file via EVCenteraChecker or with simple AntiVirus Scan to ensure shortcut pulls file requested.

automate missed backups BESR 8.5
Currently i have several laptops on my network with BESR 8.5 installed on them. i have them scheduled to backup at night to a SAN everday. when these systems are taken home they don't backup and in the morning the users click no when asked to run the missed backups. is there a way to take this option away from them? To make this automatic instead of an option?
