DELL/EMC Isilon CEE time slice with Data Insight 6.1.X
Do any of the experts in this forum know if the suggested mechanism of utilizing multiple CEE servers form an Isilon array to increase throughput and performance would have a detriment on the Data Insight time slicing of events? I understand that configuring multiple CEE servers for an array would result in round-robin transmission of events from the array, but what I am wondering is if all of the CEE servers had the same DI Collector endpoint configured if there would be any issue at the endpoint (SymantecDataconnector) putting them in time slice order and capturing them to the correct MSU by path? Would there be any detriment to the DI application to be aware of? thank you PixSolved1.5KViews0likes2CommentsInvalid signature
Ok, I have seen a lot of articles and discussions on the topic, but I cannot seem to make headway. I have had this issue since BE 2010 R3, but I recently upgraded to 2014 and still have the same issue, different error code. I have an EMC Isilon Cluster with IQ 6000x nodes. running OneFS 7. We recently got new VNX storage and now I would like to make the old cluster the backup location. Upon creating the new VM server (2012 R2), I created a new service account in the domain, added it to my super users group, installed all software under that account on the server. Set that account as the BESA while setting up BE 2014. I went into the NTFS permissions and confirmed the super users had full access, and went into OneFS and made sure the super users also had full write abilities in the smb permissions. The super users group is also a local administrator of the server. Here is what I am getting. Some times upon trying to create the disk in BE, It tells me my UNC path is incorrect. I go to windows explorer and copy the path and paste it and still get the error. If I close out of BE and come back in, it may accept the path, but once I get to the 'finish' and attempt to finalize I get an "invalid signature" error and cannot finish the set up. Checking in event veiwer, the error isn't really too helpful. Windows Logs -> Application -> Event Id: 33808 If I do the b2dTest.exe tool I get some parsing errors: 08/22/16 11:03:25 System Information: 08/22/16 11:03:25 Memory Load : 35% 08/22/16 11:03:25 Total Physical Memory: 4,095 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 Free Physical Memory : 2,629 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 Total Page File : 6,143 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 Free Page File : 4,496 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 Total Virtual Memory : 134,217,727 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 Free Virtual Memory : 134,217,664 MB 08/22/16 11:03:25 08/22/16 11:03:25 Test Parameters: 08/22/16 11:03:25 Role : Backup To Disk 08/22/16 11:03:25 Make : UNKNOWN 08/22/16 11:03:25 Model : UNKNOWN 08/22/16 11:03:25 Firmware : UNKNOWN 08/22/16 11:03:25 Location : \\isilon\dropbox\it\B2DTestDir 08/22/16 11:03:25 Username: Current User (domain\svc_backupexec) 08/22/16 11:03:25 08/22/16 11:03:25 File Count : 10,000 files 08/22/16 11:03:25 Buffer size : 65,536 bytes 08/22/16 11:03:25 Mapped file size: 1,048,576 bytes 08/22/16 11:03:25 IO File Size : 4,296,015,872 bytes 08/22/16 11:03:25 Required Space : 4,339,073,024 bytes 08/22/16 11:03:25 08/22/16 11:03:25 Path Validation 08/22/16 11:03:25 TRACE: DRIVE_REMOTE 08/22/16 11:03:25 ===> PASSED 08/22/16 11:03:25 Create Directory 08/22/16 11:03:25 ===> PASSED 08/22/16 11:03:25 Disk Space 08/22/16 11:03:25 ===> PASSED 08/22/16 11:03:25 Volume Information 08/22/16 11:03:25 TRACE: Volume Name: DropBox 08/22/16 11:03:25 TRACE: File System Name: NTFS 08/22/16 11:03:25 ===> PASSED 08/22/16 11:03:25 Traverse Volume Info 08/22/16 11:03:25 TRACE: Volume: \\?\Volume{c27a4090-8de4-11e3-80b3-806e6f6e6963}\ 08/22/16 11:03:25 TRACE: Device: \Device\HarddiskVolume1 08/22/16 11:03:25 ===> WARNING - Trying to connect via creation of a disk device. When clicking "Add OpenStorage" device in Backup Exec disk devices (Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2), I am able to get to the point as follows in the attachment. I can get all fields to work, it sees it as a "Data Domain" in the selection box, but on the LSU, it doesn't populate. Login credentials are definitely right. The OST 2.5 plugin for datadomain is installed on the media server. If I manually type in LSU1, or any free text in the Logical Storage Unit field, it doesn't make any difference. The error that I get when I click OK says: "Cannot connect to the NDMP server, or to the remote computer that is configured as a Remote Media Agent, or to the remote computer that is configured for deduplication" I do not have the DD Boost license enabled, I have one MTree. I was told and confirmed that I do not need the DD Boost option to create an OST device against a straight data domain. I was wondering if anyone had experience configuring the following Site 1: (Primary Site) 1 x BE2012 Server with CASO 1 x DD All licenses for DDBoost replication etc Site2: (DR Site) 1 x BE2012 server and media agent 1 x DD All licenses etc... What im looking to find is the best soltuon to have the secondary site available in the event the primary site goes down. Also if the primary server fails i want to be able to have the secondary server kick in and start backups. Do i need to re-register all BE agents with the secondary server to enable them to backup. Does DD replication or BE2012 CASO handle replication between the two DD's? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.Solved1.5KViews1like9CommentsVaulted emails and delegations
Hi. We have users who receive delegation to other users emails. Our domain policy is vaulting the emails after 90 days. When the user goes into the vaulted emails that have been vaulted under someone else's username, they are not able to download the attachments. It seems like the text is viewable, but not the attachments - which is a big deal because a lot of what we do is being emailed to us in either pdf or jpg format. We are using Ent Vault v10.2. Even when the user is given the permissions on the exchange server for delegation AND permission to open the vaulted item, they still cannot get the attachment. Has anyone else seen this before? Hi, We are doing a installation. BElow were the details:- 1. VMware ESXi 5 (In three server) with VCenter. 2. BE 2012 on Windows 2008 R2. 3. Vmotion is enabled. 4. Backup were in disk. Now , the VMware admin have provided the root and its password for each ESXi Host server. and I can see all the VM inside the Host server. I have already selected the required VMs for backup. But when testing the login credinatial, It can able to login to host server but unable to access the VMs inside the VMware ESXi host server. There is no issue with the VMotion as we have aggreed to select the VM when its shifted to another host server. We are not using the backup through VCenter as we have planned to take sletected VMs and not all VMs isndied all the VMware host server. Hi, I have ESXi VSphare 5 (three server). Alll the VM were in the EMC VNX storage server. VCenter server. I have VMware agent (Three) , one windows agent and tape library option (for extra Drive). We were planning to take VM backup directly to tape. As I have seen the "Best Practrice" for VMWare agent backup where its states that the backup to take on the disk rather to tape. Here is the link:- http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74443 So , If I take backup directly to tape what could be the issue. Any Ideas. Hi, We have the following details :- 1. Two Hyper-V server (Windows 2008 R2). 2. BE 2012 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2. 3. Tape Library (Single Drive).(24 slots) 4. Storage (EMC VNXe 3100). We have partitioned the tape library where two slots on each partition. Now , my query is as follows:- We have a policy where we are using a particula partiion of the backup destination location. And we have one tape on to the slot (Among the two slot), I mean to say that the each partition is having one tape. When I excute the backup policy we found that the tape which its was using to take backup got filled and As I told We have one tape in each partition, now Will this work if I put a scratch tape in to the seconf slot of that partition on the fly (in mioddle of job running). Or I need to stop the entire backup jos and put more tape and start the backup once more. OR I need to change the tape form that particula slot and use a scratch tape on to the same slot on the fly(when backup jos is running). Hi experts, i would like your opinion about my problem and temporary solution. We have some major problems with centera in our organization, one cantera completely failed, and now the storage guys are trying to replicate all content from valid one to the fixed one. Because of all the replication, everything that is connected to the centera is extremely slow, especially if EV archiveing is running. So for now archiving is disabled. What we would like to do now, is to add an NTFS partition to the vault store, so that archiving can run normally, and when centera recovers we would like to migrate the data from NTFS to Centera, if this is posible. Has anyone dealt with similar situation, and am i on the right track? Thanks in advance.Solved754Views0likes4Comments
