Running out of storage space. What would you do?
Hey guys. I just started working at a new company and the backup server is a mess. The 2 B2D drives are pretty much full. The exchange GRT backups are stored to B2D drives that are running out and the rest go to Dedupelication drives (They have plenty of storage space left) My question is, what would you do in this scenario? You can se the second server there but lets avoid that.Would like to hear some opinions. Thanks!Solved1.1KViews0likes4CommentsBackupExec intermittently fails to set or clear backup mode of EV indices
Backup of EV 10.0.4 (using BackupExec 2012 SP4) fails intermittently while attempting to set or clear backup mode on EV indices. Event ID 41397 ("Some index volumes may not have the correct backup mode set. This can result in inconsistent backups.") is logged on EV server & backup mode can thereafter be set / cleared manually on EV server with no errors. Setting or clearing Backup Mode is always succesful on EV server using both admin console & powershell. But the problem keeps reappearing randomly when the BackupExec job is executing. BackupExec jobs do not fail consistently but 50-60% of the time, always with the same error ("cannot set or clear backup mode"). Workaround described in TECH209776 has already been attempted with no result. Any ideas? Morning All. Posted this initially witihin the Appliance section however I feel it more likely to be a BE2014 setting which the cause of the issue rather than the fact that its running on an appliance. Just to give some background to the problem Previous Environment - HP Proliant Server with Backup Exec 2012. New Environment - Backup Exec Appliance 2600 with Backup Exec 2014 (fully patched). Exchange Environment - MS Exchange 2007 SP3. A request has come in to restore some emails from a historical backup (from March 2014) and I have identified the tape which has the relevant data on it however when I have cataloged it on the new appliance a ton of emails are missing from users mailboxes (in some instances there are no emails from the whole of 2012 and 2013 appearing within the restore options). I have inserted the same media into the BE2012 environment which is still in place and can confirm that all the emails are visible and avaliable for restore within Backup Exec 2012 however due to the fact that I have upgraded the agent on the Exchange Server to the necessary BE2014 agent I am unable to restore to the users mailbox. I have approx 35 users requiring restores from this period so would rather not go down the PST restore route. Has anybody got any ideas as to why my new BE2014 server is not displaying all the messages I would expect to be avaliable? I should stress that some mailboxes have the messages avaliable for restore - it is only some which are not appearing with their full content avaliable. I should also mention that the mailboxes I am attempting to restore from have an unusually high numbers of emails within the Inbox folder. Are there any limitations on the number of items viewable when attempting to do a restore through BE2014? Thanks, Mark916Views0likes5CommentsNeed solution for E-Mail Backup for Outlook users

Hello Community I have got an Storage of 2 TB on a Windows 2012 Server. (Storage Pool, Parity, 1 Volume) My Exchange Server should be backed up there. But after the job finishes the verfiy job will never end. Same for the catalog job. It seems not able to finish the job correctly and fails after a while (22+ houres.) The exchange Server ist not big (around 140 Gb). With BE 2012 this worked fine. Please help me out here. Tipps allready done: Seperate Verify jobs Changed storage from GPT to MBR (Suggestion from Symantec) Delayed catalog not an Exchange backup updated Agent No matter what I change, the Verify or Catalog will fail. Runs around (0.03 MB per Minute. The Backup runs smoothly with 1400 MB/min) On my secound storage (Windows 2008 R2) the backup runs perfekt. Any help is welcome. I recieved my new license codes today to complete my migration from beta BE2014 to RTM 2014. All my codes were accepted, but I could not active the email archiving feature of BE2014. I recieve the following message when I try to turn it on: So what gives here? I am happy that BE2014 is finally released, and have been using it throughout the beta with great success, but this feature for some reason hasn't made the transition yet?? Seems like a glaring omission, since the whole point of BE2012 was to get support for server 2012! I've been sitting on this license for quite some time, and I was looking forward to being able to implement email archiving to ease the burden on some massive (60gb!) mailboxes!
