Hi everyone. I just wanted to pick everyone's brain about something. Say we archive a few TB worth of Sharepoint documents and they all get replaced by shortcuts. My understanding is that during its re-indexing crawl, the Sharepoint server will reach to every archived document on EV and bring it over to be indexed (I am not talking about EV indexing but rather SP indexing). I guess an incremental crawl is not a big deal, but every once in a while Sharepoint needs to perform a full crawl, which means a few TB worth of data will be pulled from EV and dragged across the network back to the Sharepoint server for indexing purposes. I can't see how this is feasible. The full crawl will take weeks and may kill the network.Solved510Views13likes2CommentsMailbox Analysis Tool
All, When I used to admin the Symantec Enterprise Vault environment, I had the need to analyse users mailboxes to determine why things where not being archived ect, ect. Someone “thanks Karl” wrote me a small command line tool that allowed me to do this. We have had the need to do this for someone else but decided to make a new tool with a new nice UI to give a better overall analysis of a mailbox. If you think this would be a useful tool, please let me know then we can get it packaged up and offered as a totally free tool. Any comments / suggestions welcome.2.6KViews11likes38CommentsArchive Leavers
As an Enterprise Vault Administrator you may often be asked on to handle company leavers. The question is: "How should archives and mailboxes be handled in the leavers process?" ArchiveLeavers will help you manage this process. When the tool is called to run against a specified mailbox the tool will connect to the mailbox, archive all non-archived items, remove them, and then delete all existing shortcuts. The end result is that you will have an empty mailbox, which is disabled from Enterprise Vault archiving. Optionally you can also convert the archive to a structured shared archive. Hi I applied the following hotfix due to my server crashing http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH126358 However now the passthrough checkbox is greyed out and I cannot turn it on. Hello, Currently when I click the restore button for an email I am presented with a dialog that has 3 fields: Microsoft Exchange Server: Mailbox: Folder: (This is read only and currently only allows restoring to the 'restored items' folder) 1. Is there any way to auto populate theMicrosoft Exchange Server field with a value as the end users aren't going to have a clue what to put in there... 2. Auto populate the Mailbox for the username that is accessing theviewmessage.asp page 3. Allow the user to either select a folder or restore to the original location (If these don't exist then restore to 'restored items' folder) Thanks JohnSolved1.1KViews7likes10CommentsBackup Scripts forEnterprise Vault & Event IDs with Veeam Post Script
Hello, I have generated the scripts that needed to backup my Enterprise Vault Sites and Storage Groups using the Transform-Backup.PS1. I have made two scripts, EVPostScript.PS1 which contains the Set-Clear commands to clear all the backup modes. And I have create a EVPreScript.ps1 which runs via Task Schduler, the EVPreScript contains the Set Backup Mode on the site and on the Storage Groups. When the EVPreScript runs, it set the Vault and Groups into the Backup Mode and Generates an Event IDs 7060,7059,7058,7319. After that the EVPreScript will invoke the Veeam Backup Job. When the Backup Success on Veeam the EVPostScript should invoke the Clear- command to clear the Vault and Storage Groups from backup Mode. EVServer doesn't generate Event IDs when it exists even when I put the command maulally to exits the backup mode. It says that successfuly cleared, but no event IDs. On the other Hand I can see that a Warning in the Event Viewer 41257 "One or more Vault Stores are in Backup Mode" Any one can help? Thanks,Solved4.1KViews7likes23Comments
