Troubleshooting Persistent Reappearing Meetings in Exchange + Arctera Integration
We've been running into a really annoying issue lately in our Exchange environment, which is integrated with Arctera, and I'm hoping someone here might have seen something similar or have some insights. The problem is that some users are experiencing old or deleted calendar meetings reappearing in their Outlook calendars. They decline them, delete them properly (even emptying Deleted Items), but days or weeks later, the same meeting invite can pop back up. It's causing significant calendar clutter and confusion. Initially, we were looking into potential sync issues related specifically to the Exchange-Arctera integration, wondering if maybe updates weren't propagating correctly or if there was some conflict in how shared calendar resources are handled between the two systems. We're still investigating that angle. However, while digging deeper into the Exchange side of things, I stumbled across a pretty comprehensive article that outlines several Exchange-specific reasons why this might happen, independent of any integration. It covers things like: Lingering invites in different mail folders. Corrupt recurring meeting series. Issues with calendar delegation permissions. The Calendar Repair Assistant (CRA) potentially misbehaving. Outdated clients or mobile device sync problems. Here's the article if anyone's interested: How to Stop Exchange Server from Recreating Meetings? It has some useful steps for both end-users and admins (like PowerShell commands to check/disable CRA or repair mailboxes). My question for this group is: Has anyone using an Exchange + Arctera setup encountered this specific "ghost meeting" issue? If you did, did you find the root cause was purely within Exchange (like one of the points in the article), or did you discover an interaction or configuration nuance related to the Arctera integration that was contributing to it? We're particularly curious if certain sync settings or how delegate access is managed across both platforms might play a role. Any shared experiences or troubleshooting tips specifically within the Exchange/Arctera context would be hugely appreciated! Hi! Backup does not work on some databases at the same time without any regularity. The backup copy itself performs quickly. Then it hangs for a very long time. Background process. Turned on debug and saw the following. Resource and files are accessible and open.2.6KViews0likes7CommentsPlease update Article ID:100023134
I had an issue where my VSS Microsoft Exchange Writer was missing from the VSSADMIN.EXE LIST WRITERS command. When viewing article ID:100023134, section VSSADMIN Commands, it reccomended restarting the Exchange Information Store service. This did not work. According to microsoft documentation starting in Exchange 2013 the VSS writer was moved to the Exchange Replication service. Therefore, please update Article ID:100023134 to reccomend restarting the Exchange Replication service in addition to restarting the Exchange Information Store service.Solved1.4KViews0likes3CommentsCannot export archive to ZIP

Hi, Currently testing disaster recovery of an exchange 2013 server with Backup Exec 2014. Backup job taken successfully with BE Windows Agent. Successfully restored the server into a VM using SDR. Afterwards restored Exchange database and logfiles to original location. Instructed BE to overwrite existing. The Exchange restore job is successful - but store is not mounted automatically. Manual mount not possible - getting dirty shutdown error code. Have tried soft repair with eseutil - but it fails and reports that some logfiles are missing. Only option that works is hard repair - but my logfiles should be OK.. 1. Circular logging is disbled on the production server 2. No other backup software in used for Exchange backup - that could possibly interfere with the logfiles /flush them. 3. Log files are flushed correctly after each full backup job What am I missing here? We run full backup job each friday and differential other days. Differentials are logfiles only (logfiles not deleted until after successful full backup) Could there be an inconsistency in my Exchange database that could cause the replaying of log files to fails - or am I just doing the restore wrong? Hello, I have a question regarding Enterprise Vault. Here’s a little background : We have Enterprise Vault 9.0.4.1097 (64bits) that was used to archive Exchange 2007. We did a project to migrate all our mailboxes to Office365. A new Exchange 2013 was built to setup an Hybrid solution with Office365. We asked our users to bring back their important emails from the Vault to their mailbox Mailboxes were migrated from Ex2007 to 2013 and then to Office365. After all mailboxes were migrated, Ex2007 was decommissioned but Ent Vault was kept in case we needed to search for missing emails. The search function works fine (we essentially use for journal mailbox). EV was supposed to be decommissioned in January 2017 but we were asked to wait… Exchange 2013 is still operational. We are at a point that journaling mailbox search is not sufficient : we would need to export the search result to PST. This, doesn’t seem to be doable without the original Ex2007 journal mailbox. What would be the better option for us? Reinstall a new Ex2007 and recreate a mailbox for the destination of the PST? Migrate Vault to a version compatible to Exchange 2013? Is there any EV Powershell commands that would allow us to export the search results to PST without the use of Exchange? Any suggestions? Thank you!1.1KViews0likes1CommentExchange 2013 GRT backups - how can I speed up the backup?
Hello, we have two mailboxes servers hosted on vmware and 30 databases configured in a DAG between the two servers. currently I have a policy set for a 15 hour window for a full GRT backup during the night (between 17-8), and 7 jobs limit per policy. lately the backup fail to complete in the time frame we have. and this is after we lengthened it already. other than increasing the job limit, how can I speed the backups? the servers seem to struggle as it is (I think the backups are causing them to lose connection with the witness server- I never had the time to look into it) I considered ticking the 'disable client side deduplication' on the policy, since we are using a netbackup appliance with deduplication enabled. but I was unsure of where it moves the workload.. thanks in advance for the help1.3KViews0likes5CommentsIs Exchange Journaling insecure?
Sounds strange doesn't it? Exchange Journaling, the process used by thousands of Exchange customers all over the world to ensure that have a defensible and reliable eDiscovery position, has been called into question by... Microsoft! So why would Microsoft state that Journaling is insecure?283Views1like1CommentIntroducing Enterprise Vault Office Mail Apps for Exchange and Office 2013
In previous versions of Exchange OWA, Enterprise Vault has delivered its integration with OWA by dynamically modifying the web content served up by Exchange, an approach that was fraught with issues around setup and configuration, as well as requiring software to be installed on the Exchange server itself.
