Exchange DAG location based Backup
Customer wants us to build a Exchange DAG with Nodes on two different Locations, DBs evenly distributed between both Locations. Backup should only save the passive Databases, as far as I know this requires DAG-Mode. Problem is that the Nodes in Location A have to write their Backup to Location B and vice Versa. With Node-based Exchange Backup this can be done using two Policies, easy mode. Is there a way to make this work with DAG? Thanks in Advance for your Ideas.561Views0likes1CommentSLP Disk to tape backup size is differs

Does Backup Exec 2014 have a way to do Hierarchical storage management or Tiered storage? I have a Dicom server that needs to archive files to a single storage space, that then needs to have the older files migrated to tape, while maintaining a stub file in the original location for the Dicom server to see and retrieve if necessary. I recently had fully encrypted hard disk (Toshiba mq01abd075), operating system (Windows 7 Professional), two partition. C (146 GB) and D (548 GB) and 4 GB Unallocated space. I ran the system restore for partition C, after which I was unable to access the operating system. I reinstalled the operating system partition C. I installed PGP WDE, when I entered in the program, partition D does not appear to be decrypted. Partition D appears in My Computer (0 bytes), in computer management at disk management appear 548 GB RAW. If I double click on it ask me for Format, but i've never click Yes, so the second partition was never touch after the problem. After this I reinstalled twice the OS. Now I have windows 8.1 but stil, but still I have not touch the second partition. I've tried to decrypt the drive with a few tutorials such as(WinPE and put the hard disk as second partition): http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH170574 http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH149478 Give me various errors suchs as: "Could not locate valid BGFS record. Hello, yesterday was a new implementation of DLO 7.5 and after the first backup it is full, the client asked me if DLO supports if the computer was connected by Wi-Fi, I thought that protocols and networks should be as in a wired network but not if it will be true. Unfortunately did not get a chance to get some comprobrarlo. Could give me feedback about their experiences. Thank you.684Views0likes2CommentsSimple backups with deduplication and archiving scenario
Hello, I am quite new to using backup exec 2012 with the idea of DLM and need some questions answered (i.e. my setup confirmed) Some history: Currently, we are using another backup solution that pushes backups via FTP to two stores that leap frog each other. The people here have become very used to being able to delete a file and that file being available to them in the future on account of our incremental backups never cleaning up backup sets (our storage is much larger than usage, the company is not very data heavy.) With DLM, I believe files like these in the backup sets will be removed after the retention period of the backup has been reached, as the backup sets themselves are deleted to regain storage. In this case, I believe I have read people would set up a duplicate backup to archive media such as tape so recovery of files that might have been deleted months or years ago will be available. Our company gets audited frequently, and we could be asked to produce data that might have been deleted for years off our production servers. We would like to use offsite tape storage sets to comply with data retention standards we have to comply to. The setup I would think of for us is: One full backup per week, with daily incremental backups all to our deduplication storage on our media server, with data retention set to a level our media set could handle (currently eight weeks.) Then, we could have a weekly Backup to deduplication then duplicate to tape action for archiving purposes that backs up to scratch media. 1. Weekly Full backup to deduplication (eight week retention) with duplication to tape (no retention, tapes are archived off site) 2. Daily incremental backup to deduplication (eight week retention) Would this setup would give us eight weeks of backup data available to restore on our live media server and unlimited restore potential from archive tapes? We would not be re-using our tapes in this scenario. Sorry if this question is too simple for the forum.Solved682Views1like2CommentsRemount file system
