You require a license to install and use Veritas InfoScale products. There are two ways you can register the Veritas InfoScale product license keys: Use key-based licensing When you purchase a Veritas InfoScale product, you receive a License Key certificate. The certificate specifies the product keys and the number of product licenses purchased. Use keyless licensing The license is registered based on the product you install. Within 60 days of choosing this option, you must install a valid license key corresponding to the license level, or continue with keyless licensing by managing the systems with Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager. You can register the product license keys either manually or by using the installer. To install and configure Symantec software, you need to establish secure shell (ssh) or remote shell (rsh) communication with superuser privileges between the nodes where the installer is running and the target nodes. You can install products to remote systems using either ssh or rsh. Symantec recommends that you use ssh as it is more secure than rsh. You can set up ssh and rsh connections in the following ways. You can use UNIX shell commands to manually set up the connection.Using this method, you can log into and execute commands on a remote system. You can run the installer directly to set up the ssh/rsh connection interactively during the install procedure. You first create a Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) key pair. From the key pair, you can append the public key from the source system to the authorized keys file on the target systems. You can run the installer -comsetup command.Using this method, you can interactively set up the ssh and rsh connections using the installer -comsetup command. You can run the pwdutil.pl password utility.If you want to run the installer with the response file present in your own scripts, then the ssh connection should be set up prior to running installer. The password utility, pwdutil.pl, is bundled in the Symantec Storage Foundation and High Availability (SFHA) Solutions 6.2 release under the scripts directory. You can run the utility in your script to set up the ssh and rsh connection automatically. Both the script-based and web-based installers support establishing passwordless communication. Veritas InfoScale 7.0 (Linux and Windows): Changes in Dynamic Multi-Pathing for VMware
With the introduction of the Veritas InfoScale 7.0 product family, Dynamic Multi-Pathing (DMP) for VMware is now included as a component in the Veritas InfoScale Foundation, Storage, and Enterprise products. The license for this component is included as a part of the InfoScale license on both Linux and Windows. You can either use the Linux license or the Windows license to enable DMP functionality on the ESXi hypervisor. The DMP for VMware component consists of the following: vSphere offline DMP bundle — DMP components installed on the ESXi hypervisor vSphere UI plug-in — Installed on a Windows physical machine or on a virtual machine and serves as an interface between ESXi and vCenter Remote CLI package — Optional command-line interface to manage ESXi hosts from a Linux system or a Windows system The components can be installed using the command line or the VMware vSphere Update Manager. Displays the mapping of LUNs and VMDKs used by a virtual machine. Has a SmartPool tab for a virtual machine for easy configuration of SmartPool assigned to it. No longer requires ESXi login credentials in the Manage Device Support page. ApplicationHA (for VMware) and Symantec High Availability Solution: Product Selection panel does not list any products when installing through vSphere Client integrated menu
During the installation of ApplicationHA (for VMware) or Symantec High Availability guest components through the vSphere Client, the Product Selection panel may fail to list any products. This issue occurs if you install the ApplicationHA or the Symantec High Availability Console using platform-specific installation media and install the guest components on a virtual machine on another platform. To resolve the issue, you must copy the platform-specific guest installation package on the Console host. How To Manage Multiple VCS Clusters from a Central Location
What is the preferred tool/process used to manage multiple VCS clusters? We have several clusters in our environment and to date, the administrators RDP to one of the nodes in the cluster, open the Veritas Cluster Manager - Java Console. What is the solution to see all clusters in a single window or dashboard and also get notification of cluster events? Where is the documentation of how to setup the solution? After you install Storage Foundation and High Availability (SFHA) and create a cluster, you can add and remove nodes from the cluster. You can create clusters of up to 64 nodes. To add a node to an existing SFHA cluster: Complete the prerequisites and preparatory tasks before adding a node to the cluster. Before adding a node to an existing SFHA cluster, verify that you have met the hardware and software requirements. You also need to prepare the new node. You can manage the system by creating a channel, which is a collection of software RPMs. Using the channel, you can segregate the RPMs by defining some rules. For example, a channel may contain RPMs only from a specific Red Hat distribution or a channel may contain SFHA RPMs for custom usage in your organization's network. You can install RPMs and rolling patches on the systems that the Red Hat Satellite server manages. You can use the Red Hat Satellite server to: Inventory the hardware and the software information of your systems. Install and update software on systems.
