Former Ghost 15 user - Getting trapped in the SSR 2013 Trial
A few days ago I had an issue with doing a system restore using Ghost 15. I went to that forum for help and learned that Symantec was going to discontinue Ghost and recommended users "check out" SSR 2013 with its free trial. I downloaded the free trial and eventually learned it would not install unless I first remove Ghost. That wasn't from anything that I saw when the SSR installation failed; that happened without any additional information. However, I did eventually find my way to this forum and a helpful Guru pointed out the issue and also that I could always re-install Ghost if I wasn't happy with SSR. I uninstalled Ghost, installed SSR, and started backing stuff up. Now, if one of the things you want to do is a full system restore (my primary interest) then you need a recovery disk. SSR will make a recovery disk for you and all you need to do is provide an activation key which you don't get with the trial version. No problem, as all I need to do is install Ghost. But I can't install Ghost until I uninstall SSR. And SSR WILL NOT UNINSTALL. Whenever I try to uninstall it there's an Error 2738 and something about a VBasic error. So now I have a trial verision of a program that I can't use and a paid for program I can no longer load. I guess it can all be fixed if I pay Symantec for an activation key for a program that I'm not sure I want in the hopes it will maybe allow me to upgrade to a latter version that can uninstall so I can install the program I uninstalled so I could evaluate the Free Trial. To put it another way, I may have to pay Symantec to I can remove their free software and load back the software I paid them for as well. And, even it it turns out there's a simple, and hopefully less expensive, way out of this I've still wasted a lot of time on what should be a free trial of a comercial product which appears to be more of an alpha test. (If I sound upset, it's because I really am)2.4KViews3likes12CommentsActive Directory Server (Windows 2003 R2) unable to boot after Installing Symantec System Recovery 2013
Hi Everyone, We successfully deploy SSR 2013 on Windows Server 2003 R2 but problem arised when we try to deploy it on an Active Directory Server. After successful installation, the server requires a reboot. But when we reboot it, the server failed to boot on Windows. What we do is to uninstall the SSR 2013 so that it can boot properly. We try other vesion of SSR like 2011 but same error occurs. The credential we used on installing SSR has an administrator rights. I would like to know if SSR 2013 and 2011 has compatibility problem on Active Directory and what we can do to fix it? Thanks in advance..:)2.1KViews0likes16CommentsInstall SSR 2013 R2 run failed
hi Symantec sensei Currently I'm struggling with installation of plug-ins, agents, SSR 2013 R2 with user interface on the end-point stations(200 stations) from SSR Management console (7.5.3153). Mostly it goes good, but some stations ignore the installation of “Package for Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 with user interface”. In the agent history, it shows that “Install SSR…..Run failed”. I checked the obstacles, which could stop the installation – antivirus manipulations (exceptions, complete uninstall, etc.), win os firewall settings/rules (permit all in all directions), tried to Update Distribution Points, manually initiate the installation/downloading the package from Agent (CommonInstaller.exe. It starts for a sec and then disappears). PS: is it possible to install this package manually in offline mode? tried to find it, but without result Kindly ask You to help in this. The LOG file from Agent is attached. regardsSolved1.8KViews0likes8CommentsSymantec System recovery 2013

DLL ? EXE ? Merci de votre expertise...1.1KViews0likes8CommentsCommand Files with File & Folder Backups
I'm trying to setup a "Triggered" File & Folder backup job that backs up a single file when a particular application is run. Problem is, I need the backup to run AFTER the application terminates, not while it is running. Was going to use a "Pre" script to monitor the application by using the Tasklist command in a loop until the application terminates, but then discovered that you can't specify Command Files for File & Folder backups. Anyone have an idea how I can achieve this?Solved1.1KViews0likes6CommentsSR 2013 recovery disk for VMware Hypervisor 5.0
Hi, I was simulating a server scenario (EFI based) in my virtual server (VMware Vsphare 5.0). Details :- 1. VM Env. details - VMware Vsphare 5.0 2. VM OS - Win 2008 R2 (EFI enabled BIOS) . 3. System Recovery - SR 2013. 4. SR 2013 Recovery Disk. Now, I have installed and successfully backed up the system (including EFI system reserved Partition) using SR 2013. But Unable to boot using the SR 2013 recovery Disk on to a different VM where EFI is enabled in the BIOS. I have tried using SR 2011 Recovery Disk and was successfully bootable when changed to non-EFI based BIOS in the VM setting. This NON-EFI based BIOS(Target server) will not be able to restore a EFI based system (Source backed up server) check the below link on this :- http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH128386 My query :- 1. Does SR 2013 supported in VMware VSphare 5.0? 2. Is there any bug/problem compatibility issue with VMware or EFI based server. 3. Or else I am going through a wrong procedure. Please, help me with this query.... Thanks.Solved1KViews0likes3Comments
