Cannot Add a Linux Server at Backup Exec 16
Hi All, Can somebody help me? It's my first time in a linux environment. I have to a backup a Rhel 7.3 Linux using Backup Exec 16 (resides in Windows 2012 R2 Standard). 1. Linux agent was installed at the Rhel 7.3 server 2. But when adding the linux server at Backup Exec, there is an error. (Please see attached) I can ping the linux server from the backup exec server. Adding Linux VMs
How about adding Linux VMs Servers to Backup Exec 2014? Don't know how can I add Centos 5.x and 6.x to Backup Exec 2014 V-Ray edition. Backup Exec gives error every time I try to add the Linux VM. HOW TO install BackupExec 2010 agent on Debian (RALUS)
I hope this post will be useful to many people (please vote for it or mark it as solution if it helps you). Installing directly RALUS on Debian will not always work. First problem : ../perl/Linux/bin/perl: No such file or directory Second problem : at the end "was not successfully installed" and "impossible to add VRTSralus to (server)" And some others that will get solved when following my solution This is a simple way to install it and avoid these (and other) problems : 1. (optional) Create a folder to keep all RALUS files and copy the archive into it : mkdir /root/BE mkdir /root/BE/RALUS2010 mv RALUS_RMALS_RAMS-2896.9.tar.gz /root/BE/RALUS2010/ cd /root/BE/RALUS2010 2. Unpack the archive provided by Symantec tar xzf RALUS_RMALS_RAMS-2896.9.tar.gz 3. Stop the RALUS service if it is already installed and runnig /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init stop 4. Very important, if you are under a 64 bit Linux you have to this Extract debian package : tar xzf RALUS64/pkgs/Linux/VRTSralus.tar.gz Install debian package : dpkg -i VRTSralus-13.0.2896-0.x86_64.deb Start installation : ./RALUS64/installralus 5. But if you are under a 32 bit Linux you have to this (I didn't tested under 32 bits) : Extract debian package : tar xzf pkgs/Linux/VRTSralus.tar.gz Install debian package : VRTSralus-13.0.2896-0.i386.deb Start installation : ./RALUSx86/installralus or ./installralus 6. Be sure to answer all questions correctly especially the one about the host server (XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX), you must give the IP of the Backup Exec server. 7. Do a restart of the RALUS Backup Exec agent, and it should say "[ OK ]" /etc/init.d/VRTSralus.init start I hope it will help ! Send me questions if you have other problems... Denis P.S. Hi I am currently running a trial of the product right now. Everything has been working find from a Windows perspective. I am having an issue with getting the media server speaking with a linux server. The agent is installed on the linux server and is running. I have checked this out and I am comfortable in saying so. The server itself was also rebooted after the install. I have also confirmed the beoper group is created and a user named "backup" is added to the group. When attempting to add the server in Backup Exec the opertaion cannot be completed. I have tried using DNS, IP and the FQDN of the server. Each time it fails with the same message. I am able to ping the server by IP and DNS. The Ubuntu server didn't have a firewall running but it did have IP tables. Iadded the port 10000 to this. I still had the same issue. I then disabled IP Tables and attempted once again. Once again I had the same problem. I used the below link to edit the RALUS.cfg and added what was necessary. Again I came up against the same problem https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100016591 I have used the Backup Exec debug tool but I don't see anything obvious in here to point out the problem. One of the error codes is the problem I see in the GUI "The server was unable to complete the requested operation" I am looking for any ideas on how to get this working. How to convert Physical to Virtual machine via Backup Exec
Dear Forum expert, I am looking for solutions from backuopo exec server 15, I would like to ask whether we can use symantec to backup whole physical linux red hat server then restore it Virtual machine environemnt. I want to do this cause i cannot convert physical machine that have Raw Device Mapping to VMDK file. Do you have any experience with this kind of problem.
