Old user
We had a user who left the business and the account was deleted, recently another user with the same name joined the business and the account was created with exactly the same username. The issue i have is EV can't see this account, as the username already exists in EV's DB and EV will not archive this mailbox? I have gone into Archives and tried changing the billing usage to this user's name without success. I'm stuck with this problem now, any pointers/help is appreciated.Solved1.7KViews0likes7CommentsSymantec Enterprise Vault solution
Hi, We are planning to use Enterprise Vault as archival solution with our existing storage server. As I understand from the Enterprise Vault manual. 1. Enterprise Vault have two software application. 1.1 Enterprise user application that configured on user machine to provide the authentictaion to the user, move data to the archival stoarge or move data from archival stoarge. 1.2 Enterprise server application is used to create policies, transfer data to the storage server. For more detail please find the attached PPT. Please correct me if my understanding is not right.Solved1KViews0likes2CommentsEV and NetApp CIFS\NFS volumes
hi I have a customer who uses NetApp and wants to use EV for File System Archiving. They used mixed mode security styles that allows them to present the same volumes for Windows and Linux users. So if EV is configured to archive files through the NetApp CIFS integration what happens to a Linux user who tries to access a file that has been archived? From a Linux perspective what will the placeholder look like and what happens when they try to open the file? kind regardsSolved1.2KViews0likes5CommentsIs there Java API for Enterprise Vault
Hi, Normally we use Outlook add-on to view any archived mails, and now we have a requirement to read mail data (including From/To/Cc/Body/Attachments) based on mail id in the JavaEE application. So we'd like to see if there's Java API availble to achieve this. Much appreciated.Solved2.6KViews1like11CommentsArchiving Zimbra using Enterprise Vault SMTP
Hi Guys, I'm trying to elaborate a solution to archive Zimbra emails using Enterprise Vault 10, I know that we don't have any integration with Zimbra but there's any restriction or issue to archive Zimbra using SMTP? There's any reason not tu use Enterprise Vault 10 to archive Zimbra? Thanks for your commentsSolved1.1KViews0likes1CommentMultiple Platform Internet Browser Support
There is something I don’t understand about the compatibility for Internet Browser support on multiple platforms in conjunction with Microsoft Exchange OWA roadmap in supporting multiple Internet Browser versions such as Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Why would Symantec not build support for multiple Internet Browsers or even have a Mobile Device App for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone. I think the Enterprise Vault community would receive such a compatibility with open arms. I know I would! It will give multiple solutions throughout the company for customers with Apple workstations or other platforms where Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported. My question is: Why not? When? Are there BETA plugins to test? Thanks and regards,Solved1.2KViews0likes3CommentsEnterprise Vault File System Archiving with Linux and Mac
Greetings, We are evaluating Enterprise Vault (EV) File System Archiving (FSA) for our organization. We are currently using CIFS to connect from Linux and Mac systems to Windows file shares, and with many different version of Windows to the shares. Does FSA work in this environment? If so, could anyone point us in the right direction to white papers, blogs, etc. describing similar implementations. Regards, DrewSolved920Views0likes1CommentOWA Extensions
EV 8.0 SP3, Exchange 2003 SP2. Has anyone had any luck getting OWA entensions working in browsers other than IE? I understand that it's not supported, but for my MAC and linux users it's a MASSIVE pain. I tried tricking the brower using the user agent string, but no luck. When I do that I can select between Basic/Premium OWA client as one would with IE, but using the Basic client doesn't show the EV extensions, unlike it does in IE using Basic mode. I know it's not supported....but I'm just trying to find a way so my users can search and reply with minimal headaches. No manual archiving or restoring will be done.628Views0likes3CommentsWeird annoymous emails appear in IMAP Thunderbird client
Hi Everyone, In our environment we're using Exchange 2007 SP1 & Enterprise Vault SP3 A bulk of our users are using Mozilla Thunderbird 2.x & 3.x as the default mail client, I received EV message with no sender or subject in Thunderbird. There's an attachment called EnterpriseVaultSettings.txt I tried running a message tracking query on Exchange, but I'm not able to find any log entries referring to this email. However after a few hours, the message is removed from the user's mailbox. Has anyone experienced this? or has a idea what is happening in the background? Hi Everyone, Our Organisation uses half Windows and half Linux. A bulk of our userbase uses Mozilla Thunderbird 2.x & 3.x as the default Mail client. From my understanding there's no plugin for other mail clients other than Outlook and Entourage, which means users are limited to use the OWA/EV webapp. Right? I'm curious to know whether someone has found a way to get EV archiving to work on Thunderbird? We want to Create dropbox scenario where users can drop items to be archived, and periodically (every 4 hours or nightly) Enterprise Vault would query this folder and archive the contents inside the folder. Similar to Outlook where you have a separate Vault inbox and users can retrieve vault messages from here, but we also want users to be able commit vault items as well. Thanks for your help. -S631Views0likes3Comments
