Dear All, I have a really strange problem with the LiveUpdate (3.3.0.69) for Backup Exec 2010 MP1 running under Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (64bit). After a clean installation of the server with the OS and a clean installation of Backup Exec 2010 MP1 (13.0.2896) the first thing I tried was to run the LiveUpdate. It directly connects to the Symantec Servers... ... and find all the necessary updates. If I proceed with a click on "Next" it starts the download but stops always exactly after 3500 KB... ... after some seconds the error message LU1835: Connection to the LiveUpdate server failed appears. I'm connecting to LiveUpdate via a Proxy Server. I already added http://*.symantec.com and http://liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com to the Trusted Sites within Internet Explorer I already checked the articel "How to determine whether your firewall is blocking LiveUpdate" with the result that everything is fine and nothing got blocked from the firewall I already increased the time for time-out value for HTTP downloadswith the result that the error message LU1835 will be displayed later. I also already uninstalled LiveUpdate, rebooted the server, made a clean installation of LiveUpdate and run a repair of Backup Exec without any further result. If I try to download ahotfix smaller than 3500 KB (like Hotfix 354911 with ~ 3,1 MB) it works fine for that hotfix - but no luck for any (single) hotfix > 3,5 MB At the same time a LiveUpdate runs fine via the same network/same proxy on a Windows Server 2003 R2 and Backup Exec 12.5 installed on it. Here it's e.g. no problem to download SP4 (> 100 MB) for BE12.5 via LiveUpdate, so this is why I do not believe that the problem is related to our internet connection. Any ideas as I'm running out of them...? Kind regards, SGSolved3.7KViews1like37CommentsHotfix Articles

I upgrade from Backup Exec 2010 toBackup Exec 2010 R2, but when I run LiveUpdate, it shows both products and pulls down updates for both. The updates for BE 2010 fail and the ones for R2 install fine, but I'd like to not have BE 2010 in the list. I am sure that BE 2010 is no longer installed. Is there a way to remove it from the LiveUpdate product list? Thanks, RichSolved1.1KViews0likes6CommentsBackup Exec 2010 - Exchange Server 2007 SP2 on Server 2008
I am trying to backup Exchange mail store groups, an on one group, our largest group which has four mail databases always gives this error with 0 data collected. I have 6 mail groups and i backed up one at a time today and this perticular group is the only one that errors out, and i canot figure out why. We have had this problem in 11d and just upgraded to 2010 in hopes it would correct itself, no avail. The mail server is actual on a failover cluster, which gave me problems with the remote agent for 2010, so Symantec had me load the 12.5 remote agent, this work around aloud my to actually navigate to the mail store groups. I have no control over the AOFO usage as Exchange 2007 defaults to that and there is no choice. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue or if anyone knows of a solution. it has been over a month since I've gotten a back up, but I'm not sure the backups from before that are any better. The target computer is running a previous version of the Backup Exec Remote Agent. You must upgrade the Remote Agent. Like my subject says. Windows SBS 2003, running Backup Exec 10 and SEP 11. I had to reinstall Backup Exec about a month ago to fix some issues where it wouldn't do a backup-to-disk (Terastation). The backup-to-disk is now working fine, but I can't get any of the service packs or hotfixes to install. I've tried installing them manually, through LiveUpdate, and with the Backup Exec services stopped. Each time, I get the same error 1324 "The path Program Files contains an invalid character". Have reviewed various logs, including the "hidden" Symantec one, with no success. I've deleted the contents of the Live Updates\Downloads directory, forced it to redownload the updates, and still no luck. I've manually skimmed through the registry searching for phrases like "Program Files" and "BackupExec", but did not spot anything wrong. I've run CCleaner to clean the registry, but it did not find anything related to Backup Exec. All of the updates (various hotfixes, SP4, etc.) were installed in the past, and really about the only things that've changed in the past month were upgrading from Symantec 10 to 11, and then having to reinstall Backup Exec. I have no idea where it's looking, or what's wrong with the installer, that it keeps thinking "Program Files" contains an invalid character.
