BackupExec Agent for Mac OS X Server not working
I cannot seem to get the BackupExec agent for OS X Server working. I have an XServe running 10.6.4 and RALUS/RAMS 2896.9 (2010r2). I have gone through the installrams script and verified everything is correct. All ports between my server and the backup server are open while troubleshooting this problem. The admin for the backup server has verified everything is correct on his end. Whenever he goes to connect to my server, it is killing the remote agent on my server. I have restarted with the logfile option and can attach if needed. The only thing that stands out to me is that some of the dylib's are not being loaded even though I have added that directory (/opt/VRTSralus/bin) to my DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH variable. Everything else looks normal, at least to me, but the agent is killed when the backup admin tries to connect to it from the BackupExec Console.

Hallo, wir sichern mit BE 11d Rev. 7170 SP5 unter anderem auch einen Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 Von Zeit zu Zeit kommt es vor, dass wir mit BE nicht mehr auf den Server zugreifen können. Die Windowsfreigabe funktioniert aber zur gleichen Zeit. Auch das Sichern des Servers lässt sich in so einem Fall noch per Freigabe abwickeln, der Job endet dann aber mit der Meldung: V-79-57344-3844 - Der Medienserver konnte keine Verbindung zum Remote-Agent auf dem Computer xserve herstellen. Der Medienserver wird versuchen, den Vorgang mithilfe des lokalen Agent abzuschließen. Nach einem Neustart des Mac's funktioniert alles wieder. Der RA wurde schon neu verteilt, allerdings ohne Erfolg. Wie lässt sich das vermeiden?
RALUS performance
has anyone managed to achieve "reasonable performance" with ralus agent on linux ? I can't manage more than 6MB/s with this, no matter what I twiddle in the ralus.cfg or elsewhere (5MB/s is closer to the truth) source is a couple of OES (suse 10) servers, amd64 (dual quadcore xeon DL380's) with no load (no users) at backup time, 1000basetx to BE server. disk io on the source is not an issue here, that abysmal throughput remains whether backing up 2GB images or smaller files. network bandwidth to the BE server is fine, ttcp fills the links (>80%), smb copies hit 40MB/s, ftp >70MB/s. ralus version is 1324, BE server is a DL185 (dual quadcore opteron with 4G) on 2k3 server with 12*750G satas on a p400 (512M) to stage transfer to LTO4 overland neo library. so the question is, does anyone actually use BE to backup linux servers, and if so, what sort of performance are you seeing ? backing up >1TB with this is a completely unfunny joke as it stands right now. if someone else has managed to make RALUS not-suck, I'll persevere, however, I get the distinct feeling I'm wasting my time right now. many thanksRALUS on AIX 5.3 horribly slow
Good morning, I'm hoping someone can help out. I'm running BE 12 (upgrade from 11d via LiveUpdate). I have an AIX server that has the version 12 agent on it (it was also doing the same thing with agent 11 and BE 11d) Whats happening is that I'm getting extremely slow through put on the AIX box. any other host runs at about 300 - 500MB/min but the AIX box drops down to 30MB/min or less. If I run a backup only of the AIX box it starts @ 1MB/min and slowly climbs to about 30MB/min.
