BackupExec & EMC Datadomain
Hello; Nowadays I need to implement a deduplicated disk based backup&recovery solution for a clustered vmware system which is hosting exchange 2010 and AD servers... I have to decide how to position deduplication and backup software solutions together. In some articles I see that Symantec Backupexec and/or Netbackup is used with EMC Datadomain EMC Datadomain has deduplication feature and it's used also as a backup/recovery software. If I buy EMC Datadomain, will I need to another software Symantec Backupexec or Netbackup ? Both Backupexec and Netbackup has "deduplication" feature. If I prefer Backupexec, what's the advantage of Datadomain as an additional appliance?
Backup Exec 2014 Job Rate is to slow
Last week I was checking how the weekend backups were going and I seen that Backups for our Hyper-V Exchange server have been running for almost 3 days. The Exchange backup looked like it finished but the Catalog job rate wasunder 200mb. Everything was going great for months and this happened. I installed the last service pack and restarted all the servers and it's still doing the same thing. The Job rate starts our really good and then slows to a crawl. Right now it's backing up Exchange databases and log files. I haven't been able to run any backups on the local machine since it's set to only run 1 job at a time. Here is our setup: 1 Physical Server - Server 2012 2 Hyper-Vm - Exchange and our Appserver (only has sharepoint which is empty) Backup Exec 2014 Right now we are backing up to a 5tb Seagate External which so far hasn't had any throughput issues. Any ideas?
Exchange 2010 archive db backup fail
Hello, I'm trying to setup netback to backup exchange archive database. All other backup:sql, vmware and dag services are ok. But we have dedicated exchange server with 2 archive databses and backup of it failed with error: An existing snapshot is no longer valid and cannot be mounted for subsequent operations(1542). I already try bpfisquery and it empty: INF - BACKUP START 6204 INF - FIS IDs: INF - EXIT STATUS 0: the requested operation was successfully completed vssadmin list writers before backup attempt is normal, after backup of corse it with waiting state. Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer' Writer Id: {76fe1ac4-15f7-4bcd-987e-8e1acb462fb7} Writer Instance Id: {d3f31f8b-893e-4fa2-9814-200192298952} State: [5] Waiting for completion Last error: No error I already try to reregister vss and reinstall netbackup agent. many times reboot server, but no effect. Exchange backup: The specified Logon Account credentials do not have the necessary Powershell permissions that are needed to complete the job
Sometimes when the exchange backup jobs runs over night i get the message below: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000038a - The specified Logon Account credentials do not have the necessary Powershell permissions that are needed to complete the job. Review the credentials to ensure that it has the Exchange Organization Administrator role and sufficient rights. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-906 If I re-run the job in the morning by right clicking in the job history and selecting "retry job now", it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. On the 3rd attempt today, the backup job completed without error. How can I rectify this? We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3. The backup exec 2010 R3 is installed on the same server as exchange.
