Running out of storage space. What would you do?
Hey guys. I just started working at a new company and the backup server is a mess. The 2 B2D drives are pretty much full. The exchange GRT backups are stored to B2D drives that are running out and the rest go to Dedupelication drives (They have plenty of storage space left) My question is, what would you do in this scenario? You can se the second server there but lets avoid that.Would like to hear some opinions. Thanks!Solved1.1KViews0likes4CommentsFailure backing up to NAS
Am running Backup Exec 2012 (SP4 + hotfix 217347)small business edition on Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard. When attempting a full SDR backup to a 3TBHDD on a LS220D480 NAS it is getting to about 16.2GB and apparently whilst still working on the exchange information store mailbox database. It then just starts creating two 2KB files every minute whilst the backup rate dwindles down to nothing and just seems to hang there until I cancel the backup. However: a) if I run the same backup to tape or to a 1TB USB HDD(as opposed to the NAS HDD) it completes succesfuly, b) If I run the same backup but exclude the Microsoft Information Storeto the same NAS HDD it completes succesfully, c) If I run the same backup to the same NAS HDD, including the Microsoft Information Store but without enabling the GRT option it still fails. I've tried reformatting the NAS HDD but am struggling to make any sense of this. Have seen lots of chatter about 2KB files being created and possible connections to GRT ... but not found any answers for this case .... can't fathom why ok to tape and another drive but not ok to the NAS (until I exclude the information store from the backup). Thanks Rob1.2KViews1like7CommentsStill no Email Archiving for BE2015/Exchange 2013???
We just got BE2015 installed last week and go everything up and running smoothly. I figured since we are now on BE2015, the Email Archive option would finally be usable. WRONG! See this thread I starteda year ago:http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/be2014-email-archiving-option-not-supported-server-2012 And when I tried to enable the feature today: 12 months later and a two major versions(14,15) laterand this still isn't working? What gives! Our licensing renewel is coming up and we plan on simply ditching it since apparently we wasted our money on a feature that doesn't work with our OS. Is there any plans to get this working in the future? Is there even a workaround available?Solved847Views0likes2CommentsEasy: Restoring from a RAID 1 device
Hya folks! Setup: BackupExec 2012 running on SBS 2011. Storage device is a 1GB drive plugged into a Stardom with a secondary disk that we manually swap and take offsite every week (actually, a collection of four such drives that we swap in series). This gives us backups going back four weeks. We want to restore a mailbox from three weeks ago. I've pulled the oldest RAID 1 diskout of rotation, mounted it in a usb enclosure, and shared it over the network. I am, however, not very familiar with how Backup Exec's manages storage devices and I am having trouble creating a Restore job from this network disk. Can someone please walk me through the process to create a Restore job from a network share for an old backup set? Part of the problem may be that the disk has the same identity as the active storage drive. I tried adding the network share in storage via the menu: Storage | Configure Storage | Disk-Based Storage | Disk Storage | ... Error message: "The disk storage device [PrimaryStorageDiskName]was found at the specified path. It is already a device on [ServerName] and cannot be added as a shared device." I'm sure it's a relatively trivial process, and my inexperience is the only major barrier. Much thanks!1.9KViews1like9Commentsrestore issues backup exec 2012
Dear Symantec experts, I’ve an issue with restoring my files / exchange mailboxes. We use Backup Exec 2012, include SP4. When I want to restore some files, I select the date, but there is no information / data visible. What I see is that there is a warning logo visible on the selected date, but no folders or files. I’m really sure that there was data in the back-up. But my Exchange 2010 jobs are stranger. Some catalog jobs are failed, when I restart them, the job says it’s successfully. But why is this not directly completed? When I want to restore some mailbox items, I select the date and the database, when I want to open this, I receive the error: “Query Failed”. How can I resolve this? Kind regards, Dennis Blotenburg2.1KViews1like13CommentsReady to upgrade from version 2012 to 2014 (14.1.1786.0)

Last week I was checking how the weekend backups were going and I seen that Backups for our Hyper-V Exchange server have been running for almost 3 days. The Exchange backup looked like it finished but the Catalog job rate wasunder 200mb. Everything was going great for months and this happened. I installed the last service pack and restarted all the servers and it's still doing the same thing. The Job rate starts our really good and then slows to a crawl. Right now it's backing up Exchange databases and log files. I haven't been able to run any backups on the local machine since it's set to only run 1 job at a time. Here is our setup: 1 Physical Server - Server 2012 2 Hyper-Vm - Exchange and our Appserver (only has sharepoint which is empty) Backup Exec 2014 Right now we are backing up to a 5tb Seagate External which so far hasn't had any throughput issues. Any ideas?3.1KViews1like8CommentsBackupExec 2010 R3 Backup Issue

Hallo Community! Wir setzen aktuell einen SBS 2003 inkl. Exchange ein. Auf diesem System läuft BE 11d. Vielen Dank vorab!Solved6.8KViews1like4Comments
