Running NetBackup 7.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have an HP StorageWorks MSL4048 tape library with 2 drives installed. These are attached with fibre to 2 fibre channel ports on the back of my NetApp FAS2240. When I run sysconfig -t and sysconfig -m on the NetApp, it shows the 2 tape drives, and the library. When I try to discover these devices in NetBackup using the storage wizard, it only finds the robotic library, and lists the 2 drives as "unused element address". I have seen this happen once before, but that was a probelm with an old NetApp that did not have tape config files for the newer LTO5 drives. This is a new NetApp that already has the HP and IBM LTO5 drive tape config files. And the NetApp detects them successfully anyway. Any ideas why NetBackup does not? We verified that ndmp is ON, and the account name and password should be good, otherwise it would detect nothing at all. I can even unplug the fibre, and run the wizard again, and it detects nothing, so I know that is all working correctly.Solved4.3KViews2likes11CommentsNetApp Snapvault... Wildcards?
I know that wildcards in NDMP backups is a new thing... I'm running 7.6.0.3. We have just started using a new netapp snapvault, and it doesn't seem to like wildcards... but I can run a backup without a wildcard, and it's fine. Is this because it's a snapvault? Hi All, I am running NBU 7.5 on Linux machine. My NAS device gives me option to change the port, instead of using default port of NBU, i.e., port no:- 10000 So how can I change the port on my NBU server? So I can test my NAS box with different port. Best Regards, Ashish Barot.1.1KViews2likes9Commentsbackup Performence

I really need some help with an NDMP problem. I'm working with a company whose previous IT staff left the department in shambles. They've got an install of NBU 7.0 that's running NDMP over SSO to a small library, on RHEL 5.0. After correcting a number of infrastructure issues, we're still getting erratic errors that are mostly code 84 (media write error). After a significant amount of troubleshooting, I've narrowed down that my problem is almost exactly described in this post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/ndmp-job-failing-when-reaches-tape-fragmentation-size For the system, it is recommended that we request the patch for ETrack 2291889, but I cannot find it online anywhere. The department here does not have their licenses onsite, they're not sure where they'd be in the other office, which is on the other side of the country, and they're not even sure whether or not they have an active support contract. Because of all these assorted issues, upgrading to NBU 7.1 is not an issue. At this time, I can upgrade to NBU 7.0.1, but it appears that I will still need this patch to correct the issue. To complicate matters, the reason I was called in to assist is because the company's office is being physically moved starting on March 1st, and the last backup that was run was done well over 6 months ago. Ultimately, time is of the essence, and any assistance would be appreciated. Is there a way that I could get access to the patch for ETrack 2291889? Thanks in advance.Solved1.1KViews2likes5CommentsNDMP drives being used when not supposed to
Hi, HP-UX Ai64 11.23 - Master/NDMP NetBackup 6.5.6 We have 15 drives (VTL) on this server and 4 NDMP drives (VTL). When the 15 normal drives are used up then our jobs try to grab the ndmp drives when they shouldn't and then obviously they error out and the drives go down. It seems that we never saw this issue with NB 6.5.3.1, when we upgraded to 6.5.6 the problem started. I couldn't find a tech note on this, unless I just didn't search enough. Any ideas would be helpful. ThanksSolved534Views2likes3CommentsNDMP Snapshots not Getting Deleted
