Backup Exec 2015 Cloud Backup
Good Day, I am using Backup Exec 2015 and would like to implement backups to the cloud. I would some suggestions as to the best solution. I was thinking about using Backup Exec cloud connector for Microsoft Azure. I wanted to know what is the best and difference between Azure Storage and Azure Backup as a Service. Duplication of Backup sets to be scheduled
Hello all, I am trying to find a way in BE 2014, how to schedule duplication of backup sets. I am duplicatingone server (backup set)this way:https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.HOWTO98918 I have about 10 servers and I need to create monthly backup, which should consists of last full backup setof all servers backuped to Virtual disk (a link above is working only under 1 server). Only one possible solution how to backup month tapes is duplication backup sets for me. I do not want to do it manually each month, is it somewhere possible to create automatically? WebUI issue on BE3600
Hello, One of my customer is facing a weird issue. The WebUI is not functionnal on his BE3600R3 appliance. So I logged in the appliance using RDP to check if can see some event ... No event found (or maybe I missed them) In fact the probleme is arround OpsCenter WebServer service and OpsCenter Server service. I am able to start them manually using opsadmin.bat or services.msc but they stop just 2 minutes later ... Any idea ?542Views0likes1Comment
Backup Exec Appliance take long time to duplicate backup sets to MS
Hi all. We configure a backup exec appliance with ESO and deduplication license, and we have 9 backup exec appliances with the Managed Server Rol, we share the deduplication disk of ESO and configured Optimized Duplications Between ESO an MS appliances. It is important comment we seeding the backup sets from 9 MS to ESO. The problem is when the duplication run from MS to ESO this can take from 8 hours to 2 days, we take metrics about a WAN and the results is @backupexec appliance only use a 1 Mbps from 3 or 6 Available. BE3600 Appliance clean upgrade to R3
Does anyone know or have suggestions on the best method to upgrade the BE3600 appliance to R3, with the catch that I want to completely wipe all data on it? Is there a way to clean install R3 from scratch, or should I just wipe the dedupe storage pool and upgrade like normal. Basically, the appliance is in a horrible state, and I want to avoid upgrading it and it having the same backup issues that we are currently seeing with it. (not to mention, with over 40TB of deduped data, it can take weeks to delete backup sets sometimes, other times the only way to get it backing up again was to reboot it, etc). I just want to make sure that I am starting R3 with a clean slate and a pristine image. Yes, I know that R4 is coming out in a week or two, but at this point it is not backing up at all, and we need it done immediatly (can't wait until August 3rd).... Now if there is an engineer on here that would want to provideme with the R4 ISO, and help me with a clean install this weekend... I have a BE3600 R2 Appliance Running Backup Exec 2014, Ver 14.1 Rev 1786 64 bit. And a target Server: Exchange 2003 SP2, with Agent 14.1.1.1786.1103 Target Server is a VM, running on vSphere 5.5 with vCenter. I backup the server via the VMWare Agent with GRT enabled. I am able to restore individual files with no issues. When I try to restore a ExchangeMailbox Item fromthe sameBackup set I get the following: Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe00002f7 - Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup. Review the job log for more information. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-759 I am able to fully see Exchange server Storage Group in the backup set, I am able to see all mailboxes, and all their contents. I can't say for certain when this broke, and I've certanly used it sucessfully many times in the past before I upgraded my appliance to BE 2014. Backup Exec 3600 Appliance not supporting GRT on Server 2012 R2 and Exchange 2013
Hello Support, Can I get help with an issue on Backup Exec Appliance not supporting GRT with restores of Server 2012 R2, Exchange 2013, Active Directory, Sharepoint 2013, in fact all GRT required products. I know the appliance is EOL. I thought getting the R3 appliance would enable me restore GRT supported applications from Backup Exec 2014. Now I have to deselect GRT as I keep getting backup complete but with exceptions. The GRT works well in non-BE 3600 appliance environments. I saw the below in the hardware compatibitity list on page 10 Backup Exec Deduplication Disk Storage and BE 3600 appliance Non-GRT and GRT backups are supported and no staging is needed for GRT restores. But the GRT does not work on the appliance. Who else has this issue and has it been resolved?783Views0likes7Comments
External SAS storage array on BE3600 R2
I've been using a BE 3600 appliance for a couple of years now and I keep running up against the deduplication store filling the internal storage array. I'd like to attach an external storage array with more disk and move my deduplication store onto the external array. Since SAS is way faster than USB I'd prefer to utilize the external SAS connection that is currently laying fallow. Does anyone know if the SAS HBA supports external disk arrays in addition to tape devices? I know that many years ago I ran up against a parallel SCSI adapter that would only support tape devices, ignoring any disks attached, and I'm hoping that's not the case here. I've been unable to locate anything in the appliance documentation that states if this is an option. The adapter installed is a LSI SAS2 2008 Falcon Storport.
