Hi, we are helping a customer to configure a NetApp 5230 appliance which is upgraded from 2.5.4 to 2.6.0.3. Previously we did not configure IPMI. After the upgrade, we decide to configure IPMI. However, I followed the guidelines in NetBackup doc but it does not work. I cannot ping the IPMI port no matter what IP address I set. How to troubleshoot this? Thanks in advance.Solved8.2KViews7likes6CommentsGeneral database backup error troubleshooting
When troubleshooting database backups, it is important to remember that a database backup is in principle an user initiated backup, so the backup is actually started from the client by the script/database backup api. The database backup is more sensitive to name resolution than file backup, partly because of the above Places to look for information/things to do: The activity monitor, probably where you would see the error first. Talk with your DBA <- This is a very very important step!! The bphdb log folder which gives the script exit status, environment information and other things there can help figure out what the issue is. The dbclient log folder with 777 permission which gives detailed information about the backup done by the database api e.g. rman The database api's log e.g. rman messagelog The database's log e.g the alert log for Oracle The OS system logs, but often this a copy of the messages from the database's logs If none of this gives an indication of the problem run the script from a prompt if possible, as this might give an output not catched by any of the logs In case of layered scripts like Oracle, first run the cmd/shell script as administrator/root, then run the rman script as administrator/oracle user Sometimes it is necessary to run the scripts one line of time to catch the error In my experience this approachenables you to find most of the issues with the database backups2.7KViews7likes0CommentsSreEula.exe - System Error when booting 2013 R2 SRD
Hi all. I have had a support ticket open on this now for almost two weeks, with no luck. I have 2 issues. Dell Poweredge T420. Intel Xeon E5-2450 2.1. 16GB RAM. Windows Server 2012 R2 Std. System Recover 2013 R2 w/ current MS ADK installed. All Windows updates installed, and Live update ran. 1. When trying to create a "Typical" SRD, I am only offered "German" as a language selection. 2. More imporant issue: I cannot boot the Advanced 64-bit SRD after seemingly successfully creating it in English. Booting starts out fine. Blue Windows logo...white spinning in process icon. I get the symantec boxes for loading drivers, checking system requirements, network confguration, but then I get an error box titled: "SreEula.exe - System Error" . The message is: "The program can't start because oledlg.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem". I have tried repairing, uninstallling and re-installing the software multiple times, but always get the same error. I haven't gotten anywhere with tech support. Anyone with any ideas?? I have a potential opportunity for Data Insight with a focus around leveraging the Data Insight Query Language and am looking for additional help. I am starting to look at the Data Insight SDK guide to understand things but have one quick question (and perhaps many more difficult ones) The first question is, can I create variables/tokens within the syntax of the DQL and pass it through the Data Insight Report builder or do I have to leverage an outside process and call the SDK somehow? So the example is to query the Data Insight data for all shares with a specific name in it. Would I be able to token this within the Data Insight UI so each time the report ran it prompted me for the value or would I have to create separate form to pass this into the query? I am still gathering new information and will update this post when that is available.1.4KViews6likes1CommentThings to consider when Troubleshooting NetBackup
Hi All, Updated to add that this document has now been released as a Technote. A couple of alterations have also been made. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH209090 I hope the attached document may be of interest. It is an attempt to highlight the differnt areas that may be considerend when investigatting an issue. There is not really any right/ wrong answers, so I'm not currently looking at making any major changes. The idea is more of a demonstration of how you 'might' tackle an issue, it is up to the individual to 'fine-tune' the exact methods they use. Many thanks, Martin1.4KViews6likes2CommentsNetBackup 7.6.0.4 (NetBackup 7.6 Maintenance Release 4) is now available!
