Backup Image detailed file/folder size report
Hello! I have a physical windows client with daily differentials of 22GB in size. I'm trying to determine a way to output a detailed backup job report that includes files/folders, including the size backed up. This would help me establish a possible growth trend over time in a particular folder. I suspect a folder on the system is growing in size, and the application owner doesn't know. I've tried bpclimagelist, bpdbjobs & OpsCenter report, including protected size, but I can't get granular enough down to the files/folders and sizes of the backup. Primary Server is NetBackup v9.1.0.1 running on Windows Server 2016 Thanks so much!Solved974Views0likes2CommentsOpCenter Analytics - Capacity Reporting for 30 Days
I have a customer who is insisting there be a way to truncate the default 90-day Capacity report to 30 days without any scripting and in a single-push button method. We've tried the following to no avail: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbdeployutil --gather --traditional --hoursago=720 –output=<folder name of your choice > --exclude-all-cli Modifying the PURGE_INTERVAL=30 in nbdeployutilconfig.txt for i in 'cat filename' do mkdir /tmp/nbdeploy/$i echo $i >/tmp/nbdeploy/$i/master.txt /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbdeployutil --master $i --gather --capacity --hoursago=720 –output=/tmp/nbdeploy/$i --exclude-all-clients /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbdeployutil --master $i --capacity --report /tmp/nbdeploy/$i --output=/tmp/nbdeploy/$i done Bullets one and two returned 90 days. Bullet three was not the customer's preferred method. The config file is the closest to what the customer wants. I noticed there is a 'minimum value' that can be defined in the file, but where? Excerpt fromhttps://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/doc/24437881-131832103-0/v120885038-131832103: If fewer than 90 days is indicated, nbdeployutiluses 90 days as the value. Data that is older than 180 days is purged. Data to be purged = current date - purge_interval. Minimum value = 90 days. Anyone know where I can modify that value? Or am I just chasing my tail and this can't be done?Solved2.4KViews0likes8CommentsSQL error in Netbackup Opscenter 8.3
Hello All, We use some custom reporting scripts in our netbackup infra created by Veritas professional services few years back. We were using NBU 7.7 at that time. Over the years we have upgraded to 8, 8.1, 8.2 and we didnt face any issues with the reporting. Today, we upgraded to netbackup to 8.3 including opscenter and now the scripts are no longer running. We are getting error as below. Wed Nov 4 09:20:01 2020 [REPORT_CONFIG] return=dbisql ERROR: Cannot find the language resource file (dblgen17.res). Wed Nov 4 09:20:01 2020 [REPORT_CREATION] problem in SQL I searched for the file - dblgen17.res and it is present in the same location. I assumed may be the version is new for 8.3. So replaced it with the old version in 8.2 but still the same error. Has anyone faced this issue or any idea how to fix it?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentGenerate detail report in netbackup 8.1 or using opscenter
Hi, I would like to generate a detail report ..for example data everyday we are backing up in yearly, monthly, daily along with the number of clients which actively backed up by netbackup Looked into the opscenter..but the information is confusing791Views0likes1CommentBytes written to storage grows even though backed up data doesn't change
Hello, So, a client of mine asked for help in creating a report that could help him track how backed up data has been growing, as well as how much of his storage is being used. He wants to do it per policy per month. I used Total Job Size for tracking storage usage since it only considers what is actually being stored, and Maximum Job Protected Size to estimate how much data he's backing up with the policy (it should pick up his last full backup and present it as "how much he's backing up"). Running a couple of tests, I noticed that even if the backed up data doesn't change at all (i.e. a client that hasn't been touched), the written data still changes in a way that seems almost random. I think the only thing that could be causing that is if by running manual backups for testing, something is written to storage even if there's nothing different from the last image (considering deduplication). Is there something wrong with my logic behind the report? Or is it something I'm missing about how NBU works? thanks in advance1.3KViews0likes3CommentsOpsCenter systemprofile java# files - management, cleanup, etc
So, my OpsCenter server crashed today ( I just updated to 8.1.2 ) and it was due to the C: drive filling up! Bunches of java## files inC:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile - if you use OpsCenter check it out. Apparently at earlier versions there was a bug that created tonnes of these and left them there - I had ones from 2006 - 2016. 1. Letting you know you may want to clean these up, apparently you can delete the old ones without issues. 2. Found these two solved links: https://vox.veritas.com/t5/OpsCenter/What-are-System32-config-systemprofile-javaXX-log-files-in/m-p/850868 https://vox.veritas.com/t5/OpsCenter/OpsCenter-Java-Logging-to-systemprofile/m-p/758765 Neither one clearly resolves how to manage these files - so that is my question 3. Is there anywhere I can configure to max these out either by number of files or size to prevent them from filling my C: drive again?Solved3.2KViews1like5CommentsNetBackup 5240 Appliance OpsCenter

We're currently in the process of updating to version 8.0. We've taken care of OPSCenter, our masters and media servers (linux), and appliances. Our combined Windows/UNIX-LINUX SA team have been using Foreman/Puppet to update the various clients. They took care of Windows last week and linux clients yesterday. They know that there are some servers that are not in Foreman (but not which ones), so wouldn't have been updated. I tried using theClient Summary Dashboard in OPSCenter to see which linux and windows clients were not updated. Unfortunately, the dashboard is showing clients as 6.5.4. None of our clients have that old of a version. By connecting through NB console, the oldest I've found are 7.1.0.4; however, most that I've clicked that aren't showing as 8.0 are 7.7.2. How do we get OPSCenter to show the correct versions of the clients? Is this a known issue? And is there another way to get a complete list of clients w/NB version for our three master servers, without clicking each one?Solved1.2KViews0likes4Comments
