How do you tell if Veritas Storage Foundation is running SP1 RP3?
We have a request to upgrade all of our SF to SP1RP3. Some may already be at this level. How do you verify? We are upgrading a Solaris 9 Sparc 64 bit using SFDB2 from VxVM 4.0 MP1to 5.1SP1 using DMP. From what I understand this is a new install not upgrade. EMC has remediated that VxVM is not at the expected level. We are moving from CX to VMAX.I will be editing the sd.conf and lpfc.conf accordingly. It will be an array based migration FTS. I was wondering can we just upgrade the VxVM from the CD or do we have to uninstall/install everything (all of SFDB2). If we do, then can you help me with these steps for expediency. Here are my steps: 1) vxvm config - vxprint -th (readable format) and vxprint -m (detailed attributes) save old attributes. 2) Unmount all the VxFS mounted filesystems 3. Stop all volumes and deport db2dg. 3) vxdctl stop ( to stop vxconfigd ) 3a.) mount CD with install pkgs; copy VRTS* pkgs to /tmp/veritas_5.1install dir 4) pkgrm VRTSfsman VRTSvmman VRTSvxfs VRTSvxvm VRTSvlic - old version 5) pkgadd VRTSvlic VRTSvxvm VRTSvxfs VRTSvmman VRTSfsman - new version 6) Reboot the server 7) Do SF Veritas patching showrev -p | grep 114477-04 & (122300-10 for SF&SFDB2 only) 8) Final reboot. 9) mount filesystems 10) import db2dg 10a.) use vxupgrade to upgrade the filesystem disk layout version from version 4 or 5 to -> 6 11.) vxddladm listsupport all (libvxemc.so (EMC SYMM support) should be listed because it was embedded in install (confirm)Solved972Views1like2CommentsPatching in Sol 10 x86 server

I am running Verias Volume manager on HPUX, version is B.05.10.01. There is embedded java that is version 1.6.0.06. Is there a more recent version that would bump up my Java to a higher version? Thanks Also, removing the embedded java would work.Solved2.3KViews1like6CommentsSF/HA 6.1 support for RHEL 6.5 - when?
Hi, I have read another thread on the topic, where it is concluded that there is support in 6.0.3 with patch, but not in 6.1 (VxFS/ODM specifically) (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sf61-cannot-install-rhel-65). VxVM 6.1 seems to run fine on my test RHEL6.5 though, but not the file system. Of course there will be full support for RHEL 6.5 at some point, but can anyone share some light on the timeframe? /ASolved877Views1like4CommentsRUNQ values increased after upgrade to SFHA 6.1/RHEL5
Hi all, IHAC who has upgraded their SF HA 6.1 on RHEL 5 and noticed their RUNQ increased four times (0.1 avg to 0.4 avg). AFAIK, nothing has been changed during the upgrade. I'm wondering if it's an isolated case or expected behavior?Solved874Views1like3CommentsVolume Manager 5.1sp1 vea gui
I have upgraded a solaris9 machine from vxvm 4 to 5.1sp1. I followed the recommendations to install the VRSTobgui compents for VEA, since it's no longer packaged with 5.1. /etc/init.d/isisd does not start on machine boot. When I start it manually, I get a "Error reading registry" I notice that the server no longer has the VRTSobc directory in /opt. There is a VRTSob however. This machine previously had Cluster server running on it, I removed it before I upgraded the Volume Manager. Volume Manger is function perfectly, just trying to get the VEAgui by x-window to work again. thanks2.2KViews0likes9CommentsSFHA 6.0.2 installation on RHEL 6.4

Hi All. The VRTSvxfs-6.0.300.000-SLES11 patchinstallfailed while applying the SF 6.0.3 patches with installmr on top of SF 6.0.1. The RPM verification passes(rpm -V), but the VRTSvxfs patch logshows "Failed to create /dev/vxportal" and "ERROR: No appropriate VxFS drivers found that can be loaded." A check of the kernel modules showed that vxportal and vxfsare not loaded. A reboot was performed to load the missing kernel modules, and VxFS now functions without any further issues. The number of servers affectedwas 4 out of ~ 50. Q: Has anyone else experienced this issue on SLES 11.1 when applying 6.0.3 patches? Q: Any pointers on where to look/check on the next time that it occurs ? Here are some specifics...
