EV 11.01 drops all shares on the server for the duration of the restore
Hi all, I have a continuing problem with EV 11.01 dropping all shares on the file server while restoring archived files! (Win2008R2) I have built a new test file server Win2012R2 installed the latest patches etc.. created new shares on it, moved 20GB of data for test archive. Now, when I restore this new server also drops all shares for the duration of the restore!!! The files are about 1.7GB each. I can do one or many and the problem is still there. Is anybody else experiencing this? Thanks in advance1.5KViews0likes6CommentsEnterprise Vault - Move Archives - Possible to skip verification?
Hi, we have the need to move a major number of archives from one EV site to another. We noticed that Step 5 of 5 ("Verifying moved items") takes most of the time, actually it takes much longer than the actual copying. We have the collectoralready set to 'only collect files older than 1 year', still that verifying step takes much too long. Both servers and the intermediate network and the database servers seem to have low utilization (regarding CPU, disk, etc.). So, two questions: A) Is there anything I could do to speed up the verify process? I already recreated database indexes but this did not really help. B) Is there an option to skip verification? Or at least to postpone it until migration of the remaining archives is done (so that it first copies ALL archives and THEN verifies all archives)? I was already thinking of a database trigger like 'when state is updated to "step 4 done" then stop the job' or something ...Solved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsEnterprise Vault 10.0.4 - Virtual Vault - COM Error in event log
Hi Team, I hope there is someone out there that can help me decipher the message below. The outcome of these eventsis the user is unable to access certain items in their virtual vault & receive the message "Enterprise Vault is unable to retrieve this archived item. There was a problem opening this item. Try again later". I am currently performing a partial reset of the cache, however it would be good to understand the message in more detail to help with troubelshooting the issue. Check this
Hello all, I've been working on an issue we had the last few weeks, where the VAC reported 'items waiting to be indexed', and where the count went up day by day. While working with support, and in this forum, I also accidentally found an KB article of Symantec, describing hanging searches on DA/CA. As these use the indexes, I read the article. The article mentions that a specific Microsoft Update can cause issues with certain programms (TSM, SEP) and affects ASP, .Net and IIS. Hm... Indexing uses these too. We initially left archiving tasks in reportmode, to allow indexing to cactch up, ran dtraces etc. No succes. Support advised we might need to reinstall the indexing binaries. I decided to first have the updated MS Update applied. After having that update applied, and the EV-servers rebooted, indexing catched up. The VAC now shows "No problems detected". Information can be found here: The Symantec article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH232439 The updated MS KB article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3092627 I hope this assists some of you in figuring out in resolving the issue (if you encounter this) Regards, GJ695Views2likes2CommentsCentralized EV, Exchange Servers in deferent sites

Hi everyone, I would be greatful if you guys shed some light here.. I have two servers that I need to deploy EV for 3000 users and also around 100 users journaling. I am planning to split the load on bothservers as follows: Server 1 - Archiving and indexing Server 2 - Journaling and indexing journal - and may be also usethis server for archiving at the later stage. My question here is: I am planning to do a SIS but I am not sure if I will benefit sharing SIS feature on both servers. Would SIS only apply to a vault store group that is located in one server. Is it worth having SIS across both servers. I am assuming there will be extra and extra load for this on the EV servers. or is it much more better to have two seaparte SIS grouping by having two separate vault store groups one for jouranling and one for archiving. thank you642Views0likes1CommentEnterprise Vault limits
Hi We have an especially large Enterprise Vault installation, been running for 3 years as it is now. (currently 10.0.4). Apart from physical limitations of running out of disk, are there any limits that we might see, for example SQL rows, or maximum number of items indexed/archived etc.. i.e. will EV just stop working one day, or will it keep growing? (as long as we chuck disk at it) CheersSolved4.3KViews0likes11CommentsFile recall target storage latency
Hi all, I have a problem with storage latency when restoring files from EV. The file server is a Windows 2008 R2 and it resides on VMware 6 and it’s located on a Dell Equallogic 6110E with 10GB controllers. The EV file archiving is installed on a Physical server together with Backup Exec 2015 sp1, and it archives to Dell MD3600i with 10GB controllers. The EQ and MD are located on separate physical 10GB network including Switches, the servers and storage is located in same rack. Everything seems ok until someone tries to recall a 3 GB file from archives. Our latency on the EQ box reaches 135ms and everything halts to a stop until the file is re-called I have set the recall to 1 min time-out however it’s still a problem. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Cheers1.3KViews0likes10Comments
