The question of MSEO Encryption and decryption
Hi all, I have a problem about the MSEO(media server encryption option). backup environment like below: DC SITE(MAST BACKUP SITE) Master server: SHAA2SNBU38 Media server:SHAA2SNBU38 first backup data to DD640,then vault to tape in i500. DR SITE(DISASTER RECOVERY SITE) Master server: SHAA2SNBU38(the same DC site master server) Media server: SHAA5SNBU61 backup type like DC SITE Now i have problem: Vault to tape is through encryption by mseo(media server of SHAA2SNBU38).Then i take the tape to DR site and recovery the tape from media server(SHAA5SNBU61) successfully. But the site of DR(SHAA5SNBU61) is out of mseo agent. why it does sucessfully? additional query:Recovery data what backup through MSEO must need media server installing MSEO agent?2.2KViews1like14CommentsHow to restore SAP HANA database to different client with different db name

Dear All, We want to take the image of the whole operating system for Windows 2008 & windows 2003, unix & Solaris clients by using the Netbackup 7.0. We have nearly 100 clients having different operating systems and with 32 & 64 bits. To take the operating system image, We are going to implement the BMR(Bare Metal Restore). Please guide me the simplest and easy way, how to use the BMR. Do we have to arrange a dedicated server for the BMR, OR, we can use our netbackup master server to have the BMR? Which one is the best for us? Please tell me the best practicesand the concerns if any for the implementation of the BMR. Bundle of Thanks.Solved4.2KViews0likes28Comments- 4.4KViews1like5Comments
Netbackup Linux Bare Metal Restore using Open Source "Relax and Recover" (ReaR)
Just wanted to update NetBackup users about a open source tool that I have been using to successfully do bare metal Linux restores using our Netbackup. We use netbackup6.5 to backup our Linux and AIX servers. On our AIX servers we use a NIM server and we do network sysback backups on a weekly basis to provide the "Bare Metal" backup functionality. Unfortunately we had not Bare Metal restore functionality for Netbackup. I found a Open Source tool called "Relax and Recover" that provided a way to restore the OS using the full backups of the Linux systems on NetBackup. The tool as an option where it will create a bootable rescue iso file that contains all the Netbackup client executables and configuration to allow you to boot up your Linux server using the iso file then issue a simple command that will mount your OS disks separately and do a bprestore of all needed files to your actual OS disks. At the end of the restore the system re-create the GRUB information on the boot disk. The "mkerscue" is process can be ran any time with the Linux system is up and I just store that iso file on a separate server. The Netbackup code on the "Relax and Recover" was lacking some functionality that I wanted. Working with the developers they have accepted enhancements I made to the Netbackup (NBU) code. I added the functionality of excluding files and/or volume groups in the restore. I wanted this because I want to mainly use this to restore the OS only. I also added the functionality to restore from a point in time. They accepted the changes in SVN trunk 250. It will probably be in the next release of the product which should come out in one month's time. The web site for the product is: http://rear.sourceforge.net. They have a very useful program that has a very active supportive user base. The developers were very responsive and helpful to me to get the enhancements to the Netbackup interface in place. The program itself is just a big collection of bash shell scripts. This made adding the enhancements "doable' for a UNIX administrator such as myself. It is nice to be able to do a bare metal restoreto ourNetbackup backed up Linux servers without the need to do some type of clonzilla, "ghost" type backup which requires a system downtime..6.5KViews3likes17CommentsNetBackup restore BMR P2V error GPT type disk not support

RMAN Images are missing in the catalog Our DBA's even start the Oracle restores and it also works for years. Now I have a very strange case. Our DBA's store the RMAN backups in their Oracle RMAN Catalog on for 2 months. I keep the RMAN backup images for 3 months ( netbackup retentiopn level -> 3month). Now, a 10-week-old database must be restored and our DBA has set up an older RMAN catalog from the backup. Based on this recovered RMAN Catalog a restore will fail. Which Netbackup logfile i can check to see the successfull backup of the needed Netbackup Images? Does anyone have an idea?
