Desktop and Laptop Option (DLO)
Currently our DLO console is in the operating system version 7.O in windows server 2008 R2, to renew the annual license DLO, we reached the respective key for version 7.5. Therefore, we must do our migration console version 7.0 to 7.5 and the distribution of agents to the mobile stations (notebooks).293Views2likes1CommentHow to recover data from files with .upload.temp extensions
Auser at my company recently crashed his hard drive. When I tried to do a restore from the Desktop Laptop Option (DLO) i did not seen any files to restore. When I checked his storage area on the server I couldsee files, some100MB or biggger but they all had .upoad.tmp extensions. Is there a way to turn these into normal readable data files?666Views2likes4CommentsRestoring old DLO file
Hi Folks! I'm hoping this is an easy one (although it rarely is. :-) Our old Backup Exec server is no longer in existence. However the backup files from the DLO software are. I'm trying to restore these, however I understand that the encryption keys will be different. I keep seeing references to theDLOScanToolu.exe tool, but it doesn't appear that the new Desktop Laptop Option ver 7 has this. Is there an equivalent? Many Thanks! hi i have logged a job with symantec (case # 07344592), but it seems impossible to get the technician to understand what is happening in my environment, so i thought i'd try on this forum to see if someone understands better. i have a profile to backup pst files, in the mail options, i only have "enable message level incremental backups of outlook pst files" ticked. this has always been the case since DLO7.0, and pst's having been backing up and restoring without problems. we also have dedupe enabled, which is the new feature in 7.5.1. scenario is, a computer has a pst file, 5gb. this file is not mapped in outlook, and gets backed up without problems. when looking at the restore tab on the dlo server, the pst file "size on disk" is 477mb, and the "size" is 5.1gb. which sounds normal to me because of the deduping. the filename of the pst also starts with "[00gj7fRCBlAcZM0056peg0]-filename". now when the user maps in outlook, dlo then proceeds to do what seems is another full backup. when looking at the restore tab on the dlo server, the pst file "size on disk" is 945mb, and the "size" is 945mb. which does not sound right, because the file should be 5gb.the filename of the pst starts with "[0000000000000000000000]-filename". what i have observed is that, within a few days or so, the filename starting with [00gj7fRCBlAcZM0056peg0] eventually disappears out of the dlo system, which leaves only the one file which is mapped in outlook, which i believe is normal according to the way dlo7.0 used to work. now when restoring the [0000000000000000000000] file, it restores sucessfully, all emails appear to be there, however the size's of the attachments seem to be only a very small percentage of what they should be, hence the reason they cannot be opened from the restored pst. i think thats most of the information i can provide at this stage, so hopefully someone has had this issue, and can help, because support seems like they have no idea. thanks, Phil.631Views1like5Commentsdlo 7.6 redirect restore of pst file error
hi, currently running dlo 7.6, and trying to restore a pst file from client1 backups, onto a location on client2. after running the restore, i get an message "either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the meessaging request. Please rn microsoft outlook and set it as the default mail client". outlook is installed and configured on the dlo console server, so i dont understand the reason for this message. after i click ok on that pop up, the restored file on client2 disappears, and i get this error when viewing the restore log "*.pst failed to restore. error reading source file. restore failed due to outlook not installed on this machine. mapi initialize failed" it then points me to this link: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=answers&startover=y&question_box=V-138-52224-20180&locale=en_EN i tried going through this tech article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH216331&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1414395090454 i dont have a fatal exit key in the registry location that it specifies, and i don't know what the key is or what it should be or if it even matters. please help if possible. Hello, Even though my restore job completes successful - no file(s) are being restored. I tried restoringboth just the individual file itself and the entire directory folder where the file exist.. I do see some errors in the job details and was wondering if I could get some assistance on what to do next. We have a master/media server on a unix oracle solaris 10 environment. The file Im trying to restore was backed up from our oracle 7120 zfs storage applicance and was backed up as NDMP type. All backups have finished successfully. Below is the job details from the restore i attempted. Also I ran the tpautoconfig command on our server apache (7120 storage appliance). -------------------- 07/30/2014 10:57:16 - begin Restore 07/30/201411:04:09 - number of images required: 1 07/30/2014 11:04:09 - media needed: 000046 07/30/201411:04:41 - restoring from image Apache_1400126421 07/30/201411:04:42 - Info bpbrm (pid=28439)apache is the host to restore to 07/30/2014 11:04:42 - Info bpbrm (pid=28439)telling media manager to start restore on client 07/30/201411:04:42 - Info bpbrm (pid=28439) spawning a brm child process 07/30/201411:04:42 - Info bpbrm (pid=28439) child pid: 28448 07/30/201411:04:42 - Info bpbrm (pid=28448) start tar on client 07/30/201411:04:42 - Info tar (pid=28455) Restore started. 07/30/2014 11:04:44 - Info bptm (pid=28442)Waiting for mount of media id 000046(copy 1)on server viking. 07/30/201411:04:44 - started process bptm (pid=28442) 07/30/201411:04:44 - mounting 000046 07/30/201411:04:44 - Info bptm (pid=28442)INF - Waiting for mount of media id 000046 on server viking for reading. 07/30/201411:04:43 - requesting resource 000046 07/30/2014 11:04:44 - granted resource 000046 07/30/201411:04:44 - granted resource HP.ULTRIUM4-SCSI.001 07/30/201411:05:40 - mounted 000046; mount time: 0:00:56 07/30/2014 11:05:40 - Info bptm (pid=28442)000046 07/30/201411:05:40 - Info bptm (pid=28442) INF - Waiting for positioning of media id 000046 on server viking for reading. 07/30/201411:05:40 - positioning 000046 to file 162 07/30/201411:06:29 - positioned 000046; position time: 0:00:49 07/30/201411:06:29 - begin reading 07/30/2014 11:06:30 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455) INF - Restoring NDMP files from /export/Misc/adddos/wprocessing/Attorney Support/ Other/ to [See line below] 07/30/2014 11:06:31 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455) INF - Restoring NDMP files from [See line above] to /export/Misc/adddos/wprocessing/ Attorney Support/Other/restore 07/30/2014 11:06:31 - Error ndmpagent (pid=28455) ndmp_enable_extensions: ndmp_config_get_ext_list failed. status = 30 (NDMP EXT DANDN ILLEGAL ERR) 07/30/201411:06:31 - Error ndmpagent {pid=28455) ndmp_authenticate_connection: ndmp_enable_extensions failed 07/30/2014 11:06:31 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)DAR enabled 07/30/201411:06:31 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)apache: Running Restore with Direct Access Restore 07/30/2014 11:06:31 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455) apache: Restoring to "/export/Misc/adddos/wprocessing/procedures/Attorney Support/ Other/". 07/30/201411:06:31 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)apache: Tape server: remote at 128.44.1.17:3647. 07/30/201411:06:32 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)apache: Direct Access Restore. 07/30/2014 11:06:32 - Info bptm (pid=28442) INF - Waiting for positioning of media id 000046 on server viking for reading. 07/30/2014 11:06:32 - positioning 000046 to file 165 07/30/2014 11:06:44 - positioned 000046; position time: 0:00:12 07/30/2014 11:07:35 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)NDMP restore successful from path /export/Misc/adddos 07/30/2014 11:07:35 - Info ndmpagent (pid=28455)done. status: 0: the requested operation was successfully completed 07/30/2014 11:07:35 - end reading; read time: 0:01:06 07/30/2014 11:07:35 - Info bpbrm (pid=28439) media manager for backup id Apache_1400126421 exited with status 0: the requested operation was successfully completed 07/30/2014 11:07:35 - restored from image Apache_1400126421; restore time: 0:02:54 07/30/201411:07:35 - end Restore; elapsed time 0:10:19 the requested operation was successfully completed (0) root@viking # ./tpautoconf -verify apache Connecting to host "apache" as user "Backup"... Hi, 1) Can I hide task"Open file" in DLO agent ? Since doesn't want user to run backed up file directly from storage. 2) If backup failure, any alert will be shown to client ? 3) Can administrator check which backup job is failure in DLO server ? 4) If network disconnect during backup, will job start automatically after network reconnect ? As the title suggests... I am trying to restore a file, multiple files really, and the following error message is given: appliation.doc failed to restore. Error reading source file. The encryption key is invalid. The Desktop Agent will remain disabled until the problem has been corrected by your administrator. Any ideas on how to fix this and get my files back?1.5KViews1like5Comments
