Cheap online backup services?
I am very impressed with this community. Hope I will get a good solution for my problem. We are a web based startup and working on an e commerce project. But it is completely different from a normal e commerce store. Our website development is almost completed and will be live within few weeks. Now we are looking for a dedicated backup solution to our data. One of our mentor suggested Storage pipe online backup solutions. But currently we are unable to purchase service from such a big company. We are looking for something cheap so that we can upgrade as the company grows. Do anyone here have knowledge about this? Please share your valuable suggestions. ThanksSolved3.3KViews1like1CommentProblem activating built-in online backup on Norton 360
Hello , Im john and i have and use Norton 360 products for many years now. About 5 days ago, when my Norton 360 product subscription ended , i added a trial version for 1 month Norton 360 online ,same product as i had before (the latest version), because i didnt have enough time to buy a new Norton 360 CD to get the key in order to update my subscription and activate it again for 365 days. My problem is that 2 days ago i finally bought a Norton 360 cd retail ,and updated my subscription ,but the built in online backup does not work , and it says it cannot connect to the server in order to update my suscription . Every thing else updates perfectly ,antivirus ect.,and it says my product is activated for another 361 days. Meanwhile i went on the backup site and tried to re initialize the subscription for online backup with the new Cd key , (as the error prompts) , in which did not work with a message that the key is invalid , i also tried the 1 month trial key and saw the same message. I know i renewed my subscription about 5 days late , but is that reason enough after 4 consecutive years of using this product for it not to allow me to turn online backup back on? or maybe its because i first renewed with the online free trial verson and before the month ended (3 days later) i just added another retail key for my main account to work and it somehow got confused? I updated the trial version from the desktop with the new Norton 360 cd key bought. i used the online free trial version only because i wanted to be sure that my files were protected until i could actually buy the cd and input the key to renew my account as i did. What can i do to fix this now ? Thank you up front for your time Sincerely, john2.2KViews0likes0CommentsWhat's with buying online storage?!
I was planning on buying more online storage, so I put the.. Norton Online Backup 100GB http://buy.norton.com/estore/productsDetailsMoreInfo/productSkuCode/21032532/tppc/9e2209ee4e82c4234f2d25a34b7192c1/asoociationType/0/parentCartId/0/slotNo/-1 ... in the cart (which is only $29.99). Then, I went back in my norton backup, and it said I didn't have enough storage so one of the options took me to this page: http://us.norton.com/buy-more-storage/promo How come only 5GB ($29.99) is as much as the online storage costs thats 100GB? If I buy the 100GB Online backup, would I not be able to transfer that amount of storage to my account? If I can, then how come the storage promo costs a lot more?.. Are they trying to rip me off or something? Please help soon, I'm greatly puzzled by this.2.2KViews0likes0CommentsRestore - "Start Windows Normally"
Hello ! I try to do a remote ghost of a Windows 7 32 bit computer (so computer is live), using psexec.exe and ghost32.exe. There is only one partition on the computer: C: (no hidden partition...) Here is the command I use: for /f %%a in (backup.txt) do ( psexec.exe /accepteula -u %%a\%LocalAdmUsr% -p %LocalAdmPwd% \\%%a cmd "/C net use z: \\%SrvName%\%SrvShare% /user:%SrvName%\%SrvAdmUsr% %SrvAdmPwd% /persistent:no & mkdir z:\prod\%%a & start /min z:\ghost32.exe -CLONE,MODE=create,SRC=1,DST=z:\prod\%%a\%%a.gho -SURE" ) It connects to a remote computer, run silently ghost32.exe and creates a ghost of the remote computer on a network drive. It seems to work.. I see the GHO on the network drive, can browse it with GhostExplorer, etc... But, when I restore it on another computer (exactly the same model), then boot the computer, Windows asks me if I want to boot in Safe Mode or Normally (Start Windows Normally). I select "Start Windows Normally" and it boots normally. Question: why ? Is there a way to boot normally without this question ? What's the cause ? Related to the pagefile.sys or something similar ? The version of Ghost32.exe is 11.5.1.2269 Thanks in advance PL2.3KViews0likes0CommentsStolen laptop still being backed up.
My wife's laptop was stolen a few months ago. It has Norton 360 installed. My wife got a new laptop and when she looked at her on-line back-up there are now files from the new 'owner'. We don't want to have Norton kill the account since we may be able to track the laptop down based on things this lowlife is adding to the stolen laptop. My wife changed the password on her Norton account so I am not sure how the backup is continuing to work. With the changed password will the crook be able to restore files that were backed up before or they they have to know the current password to restore files but not for them to automatically back them up? We have turned off the backup on the new laptop and are deleting all the files that had been backed up before the laptop was stolen. We just want to make sure the creep with the stolen laptop can't restore any of our files. Thanks2.2KViews1like4CommentsAutomated Synchronization of Lab Computers
I know how to manually build and deploy an image using Ghost to a lab of computers but I want to remove the manual part. I want to dedicate 1 computer as a "Master". Subordinate computers can poll the Master at set intervals and determine how to "synchronize" themselves to it, minus the obvious name, Ip, etc issues. Best case would not involve a full image pull, but only the items out of sync. Update the Master and the subordinates will follow next time they poll it. Can a Symantec product do this? If not is there a reasonably priced product that can? Thanks for the info!799Views0likes0Comments
