Restore wizard?
Next problem... I am now trying to do a restore and even this is not an easy task! When I start the restore wizard it lists all of the backup files, in no particular order, image attached. I now have to go through 1000 backup files one by one to see the contents to locate the latest backup of a file! Surely this cannot be right.Solved484Views8likes2CommentsRequired some inputs for VCS functions...
As we are in phase to built a DR project for Enterprise Vault. We have some quries for the same... 1) Once the data is replicated to DR, is there any way in VCS to check for integrity of the replicated data? 2) Copying vault store partitions to new storage would be a time consuming task since the size of the partitions and the number of files is huge. What would be the best practice method recommended by Symantec for copying this data in order to improve efficiency and also minimize risk of data loss. 3) Once the solution is deployed, is it possible to revert back to windows format storage from Symantec format with minimal data loss? Hello, Currently when I click the restore button for an email I am presented with a dialog that has 3 fields: Microsoft Exchange Server: Mailbox: Folder: (This is read only and currently only allows restoring to the 'restored items' folder) 1. Is there any way to auto populate the Microsoft Exchange Server field with a value as the end users aren't going to have a clue what to put in there... 2. Auto populate the Mailbox for the username that is accessing the viewmessage.asp page 3. Allow the user to either select a folder or restore to the original location (If these don't exist then restore to 'restored items' folder) Thanks JohnSolved1.1KViews7likes10CommentsNetwork setings missing from vm restore
We are currently busy performing a live DR test of all our prod servers consisting of 2003 and 2008 Windows servers. The 2003 servers restore no problem. The restore job for the 2008 servers also finish successfully. However when starting up the 2008 servers it no longer hav ethe same network settins that it had when being backed up. We ran a similar test last year following the same procedure in which all servers restored no problem. We are currently runing BackupExec 2010 R2. In the virtual environment the only thing which changed is that we upgeaded from ESX\ESXi 4.1 U1 to 4.1 U2 at which time all NICs were upgraded to vmxnet3. The NICs seem to have loaded with default settings. IP6 on and configured for DHCP as apposed to IP4 on with the original IP configured. Has anyone else experiance this or have an idea on how to resotre these 2008 servers without having to reconfigure all the network settings?Solved2.3KViews7likes4CommentsBackup Exec duplicate backup jobs malfunctioning
Hi, as per instructions from Symantec a while back I decided to use the Duplicate Backup Jobs in Backup Exec to make a copy of the last full when it ran to external storage. When it ran, instead of creating the individual files, it created BKF files which isn't what Symantec told me it would do. Also it gave a generic hardware error after it placed 26.1GB of data and the drive is a 2TB hard drive formatted with NTFS. The drive volume is still there. It is mounted on a USB 2.0 port on a Synology NAS. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to restore the files after the full runs. Do I attach a duplicate backup job or is there a way to attach a full restore? Thanks751Views6likes3CommentsSystem Recovery Management Solution 2013

We have recently received notification that Norton Ghost has been discontinued and consequently a free 60-day trial of SSR 2013 is being offered. It clearly states that Ghost must first be uninstalled, but nowhere is there any up front statement of "backward compatibility". The 309 page SSR 2013 User's Guide does not have the word "ghost" in the text. The absence, in your message to Norton Ghost users, of any reference to backward compatibility suggests that the two products are completely different. After all, if there was a simple conversion path, I am sure your marketing people would have made a clear, bold statement about this in trying to retain Norton Ghost users. Our assumption, therefore, is that SSR is not 100% backward compatible; and therefore we should be advising clients NOT to uninstall Norton Ghost, NOT to install the new SSR 2013, BUT to switch to Acronis True Image instead. Is our assumption a reasonable one? If not, where is the documentation about transition and conversion from Ghost to SSR? Obviously we are not going to risk our reputation or damage to clients based on casual and possibly ambiguous comments in a forum. At the very least, we would expect to see an officially documented Symantec technical statement about backward compatibility, transition, conversion tools, etc.2.9KViews5likes19Comments
