SSR 2011 Symantec System Recovery Disk ISO download
I have SSR 2011 installed and would like to create a System Recovery disk, but i don't have the ISO. I know there's a download for that and I've seen a location for a 2013 version, but I assume I need a 2011 version. Where can I download one? Hi, Back in October 2013, a support case that I opened with Symantec in relation to failure of the Elitepad 900 G1 to boot into the Symantec recovery environment from a USB or DVD drive etc, was ultimately closed with no resolution due to a compatibility issue or similar. I recently decided to pick this up again and am pleased to report a successful outcome but not without issues. Here's what I did: > Note: I have SP2 installed on my SSR client (Ver. 11.0.2.49853) but this is immaterial to process described below. > Grabbed a copy of the latest 32bit recovery ISO (SSR11.0.2.49853_AllWin_English_SrdOnly.iso) from here: https://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=88724 > Obtained and formatted thumb drive as FAT32 (I did not have to bother with the diskpart procedure that is referenced as required from several sources) > Used WinZip to extract the contents of the ISO to the USB flash drive. Note: DO NOT use the Customer Recovery Disk wizard in the SSR 2013 client. > That's it, plugged it in to one of 2 x USB sockets available on the Elitepad productivity jacket. (Note: if you don't have a jacket you might be in trouble having access to only 1 x USB port. > A USB keyboard needs to be connected to the 2nd USB port as there is no touch panel functionality in the recovery environment. Note that If you wish to use a USB Ext Drive to store the recovery points, the USB Boot Flash drive can be safely removed once the environment is entered, allowing you to connect your USB Ext Drive. > In Elitepad Advanced Startup options, selected USB EFI Boot Device option. > Elitepad booted into recovery environment with navigation by keyboard thereafter (Some useful keyboard shortcuts are:- TAB to cycle the focus between objects; enter to select; [space] to check/uncheck a checkbox; right arrow key to expand a file folder to show subfolder) > Ripped a Windows 8.1 image from one Elitepad and then restored using this image to a factory state Windows 8.0 device with no issues whatsoever, just had to re-activate Windows after the restore. So anyway, the critical step in the process described above is to use WinZip or a similar archiving utility to get the ISO contents onto the flash drive because for some bizarre reason, if you use the Symantec Custom Recovery Disk wizard to burn the ISO, this causes all of the files on the flash drive to become hidden (even with "Show Hidden Files / Folders" checked in file explorer?) with the exception of autorun.inf. The problem appears to be that the Elitepad 900 GI apparently can't see these files because it does not recognise a flash drive prepared in this manner, as a valid EFI USB boot device. It seems unlikely that the Elitepad 900 is the only tablet that might be affected by this issue. Hopefully this guide might save somebody some time at some stage. Thank you RegardsSolved12KViews0likes6CommentsServers disappeared from favourite resources.
Hello, Both of my Backup Exec 2010 R3 installations have started having issues with servers disappearing from under the 'Windows Systems' tree within Favourite Resources on the Selections tab. The backup/restore jobs now fail with the following error: Restore- SQLSRVR-1.tornadowire.local The Media Server was unable to connect to remote machine SQLSRVR-1.tornadowire.local on network interface Local Area Connection. The servers are still communicating fine on the network and I have also re-installed the agents without a problem. Does anybody have an idea what might be going on here? I am an EV user (running EV 2007 (7.5.5.2635 client), I think we are running EV v8.0.1560 on the server according to the help file path. Using XP Professional running MS Outlook 2007 SP2. We have approx 3000 e-mails residing in a personal e-mail vault that we wish to be made visible by our department. Is there an easy / automatic way of moving multiple files whilst retaining the full folder path structure to any of the following: a shared team vault, restore e-mail to original unarchived format in Outlook (i.e. with all text and attachments now visible) move to windows folder as ".msg" files. Perhaps there are some scripts to achieve one of more of these? Or is it something that IT can do for me from the central EV console / manager end? Thanks in advance. Recently we implemented DFS on our Network. For this we had to adopt our Backup strategies to correctly backup the DFS Shares. So not only selecting the Folders itself.... but also selecting the Shadow Copy Components. We are using Backup Exec 2010 R3 fully patched. So far so good. Looks like we have made a successfull backup! Time for a restore try.... (always good to test right?) What did I do?..... I renamed one of my folders: Folder1 --> Folder1.old Checked both of my DFS servers and both servers showed this folder renamed. Then, time for a restore. Created a restore job. Created a selection list and found no data in my folders.. Hmm, thats right. Wrong place. Needed to look at the Shadow Copy Components Voila, I found the correct files. Now lets restore my folder I just renamed. The folder is not available anymore on the server. Available though on backup. Started the Restore and voila..a few minutes later the files appeared back on my storage server. Restore successfull right? Unfortunately not... :-( After a few minutes the following event showed up in my DFS Event Log of the server I just restored to (Windows Server 2008) Closer investigation revealed that my just restored folder was not replicating at all to my other server. Worse yet... No replication at all. That is... Not on this replication group. Others work fine luckily. After about 30 min the next event showed up in the EventLog The DFS Replication service initialized the replicated folder at local path D:\Data\Departments and is waiting to perform initial replication. The replicated folder will remain in this state until it has received replicated data, directly or indirectly, from the designated primary member. After again approx 30 min the first 4202 & 4204 logs appear Event: 4202: The DFS Replication service has detected that the staging space in use for the replicated folder at local path D:\Data\Departments is above the high watermark. The service will attempt to delete the oldest staging files. Performance may be affected. Event: 4204:The DFS Replication service has successfully deleted old staging files for the replicated folder at local path D:\Data\Departments. The staging space is now below the high watermark. It looks like DFS is doing something.. Rebuilding its DFS database or rechecking its entire folder structure.. Who knows.. But anyway...Now 5 hours later. My folder is still not replicated to the other server :-( Couple of things that came to mind.... The files restored from Backup have most likely the same or older date/timestamp. Therefore the DFS conflict mechanism might start to intervine. The restored file might end up in de "\DfsrPrivate\ConflictAndDeleted" folder because a newer file exists on the other server. I guess it is like restoring Active Directory. The restore must be authoritive of some sort. Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation about this. I have not tried a redirected restore. A direct restore should work in my opinion. Also, there might not be enough diskspace to handle data twice in case of large restores. Question: What is the correct way to restore files to a DFS server? Why did Backup Exec break my DFS? Anything I can do in the meantime except being patience? Thanks for reading my post?
