What is the best practice after the Exchange Mailbox user is leaving the company ?
Hi, Can anyone share what is the best pratice to do after you archive the Exchange Server mailboxes with EV according to this article (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH67757) ? Do you still keep it or can you safely delete it from the Exchange Server which will means it deletes the AD account as well. I've never delete all of my Exchange Server mailboxes in the company before because i do not know what or how to access the archived email from the EV console. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksSolved1.4KViews4likes5CommentsWhat happened to the "Items archived by Enterprise Vault" when I export my Outlook PST ?

Hi, I have large volumes 8TB+ and was looking at setting Vault store partion to Tape size of 2.35TB, however there appers to be no option to set the rollover for Vault partion size just the Disk volume size. I would prefer this to be auto rather then me doing it manualy since we have over 80TB to archive So the idea is that for each Disk Volume I have 3 Partions (Ptn1,Ptn2 and Ptn3) of 2.35TB each leaving 16% for operations disk volume, and get them to roll over to the next automaticaly once prtitions are filled up. cheers731Views3likes4CommentsEV10/11 Client side icon PST Migration not disappearing
Hello all, In EV10/11, you have this Client Driven Migration option. When enabling this in the PST Policy (Migration tab, Allow PST Submission), the user gets an additional icon in the EV tab in Outlook called "PST Migration". When putting the user in another policy using provisioning, and sync, WITHOUT the 'allow PST Submission', the button does not disappear after a resync of the mailbox. I zapped the mailbox (after disabling it), and re-enabled and synced it again, but the button remains. Should the button disappear? Can anyone think of a reason why the button remains? Current version EV11.0.1, client version 11.0.1.3474. In the log-file, PSTALLOWDONATION = 0, PSTIMPORTENABLED = 1 Thanks, GertjanSolved770Views3likes3CommentsHow to manage the Enterprise Vault data content when it grows big and you are running out of disk space ?
Hi People, Can anyone suggest to me what is the best way to manage and sustain the Enterprise Vault data that grow bigger and larger every month ? My situation is that whenever my Exchange Server 2007 database drive is running low of disk space, I'd go to lower down the EV archive items from 6 months into 5 months and now down to 3 months just to create some room to breathe in the Exchange Server mailbox. I understand that this is not resolving the problem in the best way as it should since we just shifting away the disk space usage from Exchange into the Enterprise Vault. However what are my options to manage and sustain the growing data in the EV ? Can i offload to tape for the Vault data disk and then deleting it manually, what happens with the indexing and search when the data is archived to tape and I want to retrieve it later for some reason ? Any kind of assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.Solved2.3KViews3likes12CommentsSymantec Enterprise Vault Archive Vault backup & Virus Scanning best practice

Running EV 7.5 on Windows 2003. Within Computer Management, I notice there are lots of different EV queues. EV Archive agent admin queue EV Default Admin queue EV Mailbox Task for server1 admin queue EV Restore Agent Admin queue EV Restore spool admin queue EV spool queue EV storage archive EV storage restore Generally, the Mailbox task queue is the busiest. Could someone explain to me what these queues mean? Is there an effect of deleting a queue if it's getting too large? Which queues are the ones we can delete etc?Solved13KViews3likes5CommentsArchive Compression $ DeDupe
I need a little help on archive compression. I have read that all data is compressed as it is stored in the archives. I have also read that .CAB files are not compressed and .DVS files are not compressed. I am thinking that data moved to CAB files is already compressed and does not need to be compressed further. I am not sure about the .DVS files. I would also like to confirm that the only deduplication taking place is Single Instance Storage within the Vault stores. It is a file level process and not a block level process. All help will be much appreciated.Solved678Views2likes2CommentsMigrating Archives via PST - site to site.
Hi All, Curious one here. We have a requirement to migrate mailboxes and user archives, from one site and domain, to another. There are no trusts in place between domains, and due to highly robust security, any sort of connectivity between the two sites/domains is also very limited. All of this, essentially means that at this stage the archived data must be exported, then moved to a secure 'staging' area, where it is scanned for malware, before being imported into the users mailbox on the other side (speeds, and isses around calender item corruption occuring when ingested directly to EV). The scan for malware, is a policy decision made by the security team. This is a pain point, as manual intervention is required in a number of steps before the User has access to their archived data after they too have been migrated. AV scanning already occurs at both source, and destination - but it appears to be locked in place. So, essentially I have a couple of questions: 1) Is there a tool that can export/unpack/scan/repack/import .pst files - that is EV aware, or do any of the migrate tools on the market include real time AV scanning as the process items? 2) Am I missing something here. Are there any recommended best practice steps to use. We're looking them at running in batches, and ingestion speed doesn't appear to be much of an issue. It's just obviously, a pain. 3) In the event, we can actually be granted the ability to allow the two EV sites to be able to see each other and use the move archive wizard - If I recall, the move archive wizard essentially exports to a temporary .pst, and moves that across. Is that basically how it works? Thanks in advance.Solved1.6KViews2likes4CommentsWhat are your options to manage EV Vault Store data growth ?
Yes, the question is simple but pardon me my friends, I do not know the options are apart from keep on adding some more disk or extending the LUNs which holds the EV Vault Store disk. So what are my options ?Solved1.4KViews2likes9Comments
