NIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.2KViews3likes9CommentsBackup Netapp CIFS Shares with BE2012
I have just installed BE 2012 to backup my newly installed Netapp FAS 2220A. When I try to add a new job on the Netapp filer name it does not recognize the username/password but can see Netapp as a server and Access is denied ( full access for everyone is configured on the Netapp share ). It is Keep on asking for a username/password even after providing the domain admin account. If I try to access the same name\share of the Netappfrom Run command I can access it without any problem. Any idea where is the problem. The correct version of the Agent for Windows must be running on the target computer.
I am gettting this error when trying to back up File shares (CIFS) from my EMC VNX san. "The job failed with the following error: The resource could not be backed up because an error occurred while connecting to the Agent for Windows. The correct version of the Agent for Windows must be running on the target computer." I'v gotten this error before and it goes away and my back ups start to run fine but I have never been able to figure out the cause. I am backing these up as file shares and I have already enabled " Selection of user shares" . Its been about 3 months since I had this problem and I was never able to determine the solution it always fix's it self. I can telent to port 12000 which I have set as the TCP dynamic port range. I even tested ports 10000, 6101 and 6107 and all were open. I rebooted the server and even the services. Not sure why it would give me this error when there isn't even an agent loaded on the SAN. Any idea what causes this or how to resolve/prevent it?687Views1like2CommentsBE 2010 Backup Method
Hi there, We have Backup Exec 2010. I want to backup VMDK, but not enough free space in vDisk. Backup method, before storage, and then carries the BE server's disk. I just want to back up to the BE server disk. What can I do. Thanks, Merhaba, Bizim bir Backup Exec 2010 var. Ben VMDK yedekleme istiyorum, fakat vdisk içinde yeterli boş alan yok. Yedekleme metodu, önce storage, sonra BE server diske taşımaktadır. Ben sadece BE sunucu diskine yedeklemek istiyorum. Ne yapabilirim. Teşekkürler.396Views1like1CommentCannot backup Nas servers
Everything was working awesome with 2010. I recently upgraded to 2012 (major mistake). Trying to backup Lacie NAS servers, I was able to add the file server but when I create a backup job at the selection of files option I get the following error "fail to browse 'servername\sharename'. A communications failure has occured.". Like I said this was working wonderful with 2010, from the Backup Server I can access the files via windows explorer, I am useing my administrative account for everything. Thanks for any help.. I may have to ditch this 2012 and revert back to 2010 or something else.1.2KViews1like10CommentsDiskstorage keeps on growing despite of overwrite period is exceeded.
Hi, I'm running BE 2012 SP1a, on a virtual machine running win 2008R2 SP1, and have multiple backup jobs storing files on a NAS (B2D backupstorage). All the backup jobs (full & inc) has a "Keep-Data" for a period of 8 weeks. The Diskstorage keeps on getting filled up with new .bkf files and the storage is keeping on shrinking. It doesn't seem that BE is retaining the media (.bkf) after the 8 weeks period is passed. A quick look att the .bkf files stored on the NAS shows files dated 13 weeks back. What am I missing here? \nidall F1.8KViews1like18CommentsVmware Backup D2D2T
HI Guys, I am trying to setup a vmware disk-to-disk-to-tape backup stratergy. We have approx 1tb of virtual machines to backup which i would like offsite to tape. The main concern is the amount of time to backup. We have a time window of approx 8 hours overnight to disk, then the tape backup can run from the backup server at any time The infrastucture consists of the following - 2 x Vmware 5.0 hosts - 1x Equallogic - 1x LTO 5 Tape Drive connected via sas 6gb/s - 1x Backup Server running Symantec Backupexec2010 R3 with all licenses required. I believe what I am trying to achieve would be a backup to disk policy then to tape. My only problem would be getting the entire backup to the tape for dr purposes. What are the best ways of getting the results I am looking for? Would we need to incorperate incremental or differential backups to tape only? Anyone know if is possible or not the following scenario: - A server with BE and the CASO option, which is physically connected through Fibre Channel to VTL, and a managed media server B with an LTO tape drive physically connected. - The server B may not have access to VTL, since it has noFC cards. - The catalogs from server A and server B are centralized on server A (with option CASO). Would it be possible to duplicate a backup stored on an VTL to tape LTO through the LAN between Server A and Server B? or otherwise?
