NIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.1KViews3likes9CommentsBackup Netapp CIFS Shares with BE2012
I have just installed BE 2012 to backup my newly installed Netapp FAS 2220A. When I try to add a new job on the Netapp filer name it does not recognize the username/password but can see Netapp as a server and Access is denied ( full access for everyone is configured on the Netapp share ). It is Keep on asking for a username/password even after providing the domain admin account. If I try to access the same name\share of the Netappfrom Run command I can access it without any problem. Any idea where is the problem. ApurSolved2.6KViews2likes13CommentsTape library with FC and SAS drives being shared by two systems
Can any one help me I have a tape library with 2 SAS and 2 FC drives which will be used by two systems, one system using the SAS drives and the other system using the FC drives What i'm trying to work out is how the system using the FC drives will tell the robotic library arm where to place tapes? (can see the drive fine but no arm), the system using the SAS drives is the main backup exec system and will work the robotic library arm Many thanksSolved2.4KViews0likes19CommentsBackupExec Share SAN storage option
Hello, Recently i have installed licence for Shared SAN option for our existing backupexec 2010 version. I have zoned the media server with FC connection. I tried to install the remote agent on a test server where i could test the SAN option, it worked fine. I have zoned the test server to the tape. I tried to set up the job using SAN but i couldn't find where i can select that option. Is there any steps i need to follow for shared SAN option. Thanks for your time.Solved2.2KViews0likes10CommentsDiskstorage keeps on growing despite of overwrite period is exceeded.
Hi, I'm running BE 2012 SP1a, on a virtual machine running win 2008R2 SP1, and have multiple backup jobs storing files on a NAS (B2D backupstorage). All the backup jobs (full & inc) has a "Keep-Data" for a period of 8 weeks. The Diskstorage keeps on getting filled up with new .bkf files and the storage is keeping on shrinking. It doesn't seem that BE is retaining the media (.bkf) after the 8 weeks period is passed. A quick look att the .bkf files stored on the NAS shows files dated 13 weeks back. What am I missing here? \nidall F1.8KViews1like18CommentsTape library sharing between NetApp NAS and media server
I am working on a backup topology design. The customer has one NetApp SAN/NAS with FC tape out port, and one HP MSL tape library with two FC LTO5 drives. They willhave a BE 2010 or BE 2012 media server with FC port, and several Hyper-Vwith FC ports. All FC ports connects to the SAN switch. The question is that is it possible to use one tape library to backup NAS using NDMP, as well backup those Hyper-V LAN-free? If yes, what license do they need? I know if using NBU, theyjust need a SSO. How about for BE? Any difference if use BE 2010 or BE 2012? Thanks, Henry1.7KViews0likes8CommentsBackup Exec SAN shared option / solution design
I am planning to use backup exec SAN shared storage option to backup the servers directly to tape. I have the following environment 5 servers under VMware HA 1 SAN 2 san Switches 1 backup Exec Server 1 FC tape Library My question is: does the backup exec server have to be connected to the san switch as well? or a nectwork connection to the tape library would be enough. will backup exec be able to discover and manage the FC drive by the network connection? Hi, I have a setup that is using the Shared Storage Option and started having problems with the B2T that is asking me to insert overwritable media when the jobs on both media servers have been configured with the option "Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available". The setup is as follows: 2x Backup Servers running Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Windows 2008 R2 (BK1 - Primary SSOand BK2 - Secondary SSO) 1x HP MSL2024 The media servers are configured to backup 6 servers each with each server having its own deciated job. The backups are done as B2D and then B2T. The backup servers themselves are also backed up through a seperate backup job and they are backed directly to tape. The issue I am having is a bit random but normally the first job (Backup server to tape) runs succesfull, but then the second or thirdjob is queued and prompts to insert ovewritable media. All the jobs are confirgured as "Append to media, overwrite if no appendable media is available" so why is the second job asking to insert ovewritable media.
