Windows 10? New software update for Symantec System Recovery 2013 Desktop Edition?
I am currently using Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 with my Windows 8.1 based desktop PC. I am planning on upgrading to Windows 10 on July 29, 2015 when Windows 10 is released. I've been relying on Norton Ghost and SSR 2013 to do full system images for years. Is Symantec currently working on software for Symantec System Recovery 2013 so that it will be compatible with Windows 10? Will Symantec be offering a FREE update patch to Symantec System Recovery 2013 that will make it compatible with Windows 10? Will it be called Symantec System Recovery 2013 R3 or something else like Symantec System Recovery 2015? I would like to see SSR 2013 tested and certified as compatible with Windows 10 as soon as possible. I would prefer not to have switch to another vendor's system image backup software like Acronis. Their website is saying that you can get a free software update for Windows 10 compatibility for Acronis True Image 2015.34KViews12likes385Comments* Now Released * Symantec System Recovery 2013
IT organizations facehardware, software and database / application downtime, lasting short periods of time to shutting down the business for days on a regular basis. Without adequate planning and preparation, any type of downtime can compromise a return to operations and cause financial damage as the ability to generate revenue is lost. Most organizations anticipate that unplanned downtime can — and likely will — occur at some future time. But, in today's world, the need to ensure Web-enabled 24 x 7 x 365 access to key applications is paramount. Thus planning for operational continuity and recovery from outages is rapidly becoming an urgent priority for commercial and government entities alike. Just downloaded SSR 2013 trial. (I was a Ghost 15 user, but upgraded to Windows 8 so can no longer use Ghost.) On my first attempt to do a backup of my drive, I got a VSS_E_INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error. A bit of online research made me think I had to go to System Properties|System Protection and increase the amount of disk space available for system protection, which I did. I increased it from about 9GB to about 100GB. That did not help. FWIW, my hard drive is about 923GB, with about 760GB free. Any guidance? Many thanks. I'm trying to do something that is dead simple, but frustratingly it's killing me... One little thing, just trying to backup and restore Windows Server 2012 R2 on an Intel i7 PC that's in UEFI mode with GPT partitions on a SATA SSD drive. Symantec System Recovery 2013 SP2 x64 v11.0.2.49853 has no problem going through the paces of restoring the backup, but afterward Windows fails to boot. I even went to the extent of wiping the C drive (and all the partitions), reinstalled WS2012 R2 Data Center GUI (nothing else except a network driver and SSR), backed up freshly installed WS2012 R2 to an external USB drive using SSR installed inside Windows, wiped the C drive (and all the partitions) and restored the backup, but all that effort didn't matter. PC still won't boot Windows. I also tried restoring the 100MB EFI Partition first, followed by the operating system and Recovery partitions, still no help. The only odd thing I see is inside the WinPE SRD, About - Symantec System Recovery Disk shows versions that seem old even though it was just extracted from the latest v11.0.2.49853 download zip file (although the SRD .iso file date of 12/15/13 is older than the SSR SP2 11.0.2 update that supposedly fixed UEFI problems). Do you see anything usual or something that I'm doing wrong? Please help because obviously I am unhealthily obsessed with this problem! ;-) Thanks! Hey everybody, For some reason the Symantec website does not let me create a new support case (times out), therefor I'm hoping this forum might be of any help. I'm trying to install SSR2013 R2 for one of my clients (W8.1 Pro 64bit). When I run browser.exe or the SSRx64 setup.exe the installation starts with the message 'Loading the install. Please wait... ‘. After a few seconds this message disappears and the setup ends without reporting a clear error. However I checked the SSRINST.html file within the C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SYMANTEC SYSTEM RECOVERY\LOGS folder. It reports the following error: Symantec System Recovery (TM) 2013 R2 Installation Log 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : EnumProcesses Counts: 79 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : OS is Windows 8 or Windows 2012. 02-09-2015,09:39:31 : The OS product type is Workstation. 02-09-2015,09:39:33 : Executing managed _Setup: 02-09-2015,09:39:33 : C:\Users\Voip\Downloads\SSR\Sym_System_Recovery_2013R2_11.1.0.53728_Multilingual_Product\SSR\SSRx64\Install\_Setup.exe 02-09-2015,09:39:35 : ERROR: Installation failed with error -532462766. Service Pack 2 for Symantec System Recovery (SSR) 2013 will be available soon and, amongst other things, will bring support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2. I cannot provide an exact date for the release of SP2 at this stage but this thread will be updated with details (release notes etc) when SP2 is available. I'm running SSR 2013 on a Dell 64 bit Precision T3600 independent workstation with a Xeon ES-1650.0 CPU, 16 GB of RAM and containing a PERC H310 Raid adapter that controlls two 1 TB HDs currently running as independant C: and D: drives (i.e., in non-RAID configuration). 2013 succdessfully backs up the C: (boot) drive to D: in weekly sets with offsite copy. However, attempting to restore C: from image using the 2013 SRD runs into an immediate probllem. When attempting to boot from the CD/DVD drive (preceded by the H310 boot from bios), even before the Windows logo appears, I get a blue screen stating: "Your PC needs to be repaired. There isn't enough memory available to create a ramdisk device. Error Code 0xC00000017." Attempting to use Lights Out produces the same result.. I attempted to customize the SRD with the H310 driver (percsas2.sys), but the SRD Wizard would not accept the .sys file. So I have two questions: 1. Could the problem be caused by something other than the H310? 2. If the probllem is the H310 controller (none of my other systems without controllers have SRD recovery problems), is there a fix short of removing the H310? -- Jim3.3KViews0likes11CommentsRecovery sets are not being cleaned up
I have SSR 2013 ver 11.0.1.47662 set to preform a new recovery point every Sunday and incremental backups Mon-Sat. I've set it to only keep 1 recovery set...however, once Sunday comes, the recovery set isn't cleaned up...instead incremental backups just continue. This is a problem for me because I have mulitple servers experiencing this and the backup location's disk space runs low resulting in backups failing. I've also googled around and found no real solutions other than it's a known issue: http://www.symantec.com/connect/issues/automatic-cleanup-recovery-points-not-working-consistently-which-causes-backup-destination-ru Is this still a known issue that i just have to manually keep fixing in System Recovery 2013???? Never had this problem in the previous versions. I've tried deleting the backup jobs and creating new, re-installing SSR...no joy.Solved3KViews1like20CommentsSSR 2011 not showing failed or missed backups.
Hi, I'm using a SSR 2011 Management Solutions. Here i've setup 2 policy's and 1 filter, meaning that a client receives 2 Backup Jobs. Through the Management Agent the SSR 2011 on the client does receive its Jobs. Each Jobs has a different destination. When the first Job has been done succesfully but the second Job has failed. It reports to the home screen that the system has been fully backed up. The Jobs are running every week, but i found a Computer that had missed a job for half an year without reporting that it has missed a job. How do i change this that every missed or failed job is reported. With Kind regards and thanks in forward, Dennis VelthuisSolved2KViews0likes31Comments
