SSR 2013 - ReFS support, when?
When is SSR 2013 Server Edition going to support volumes formatted as ReFS for full/incremental recovery points? BTW the discussion creation form doesn't include "Windows Server 2012" in the dropdown list of Operating systems, only Server 2003 and 2008 is there.481Views0likes4CommentsSystem Recovery Manager connects on second attempt

Hello all, I have been stuck on this for a while now with now solution and this problem, so far, has occurred only on one machine. When attempting to recover, in the last few seconds of the recovery I receive an error message: -Cannot copy data from the recovery point to the destination. --The requested FRS entry is unused (free, 0). (UMI:V-281-3215-1010) I was not able to find much help on the web either. Any help would be much appreciated. Symantec System Recovery 2011 Scenario: System A has a recover point created on our central storage. Hard drive of System A needs to be replaced I have the hard drive connected to my system and properly partitioned and attempting to recover using the SSR console note: I have successfully completed this exact same process a few times. This is the first failure.Solved1.5KViews0likes7CommentsMy computer caught fire…
I was advised to repost this topic here by Symantec... All I have got left is the external drive, (USB, 1000 GB), containing the backups. I wasn't unduly worried – after all this is why you have backups isn't it? The computer was fairly old and had two IDE drives with Windows 7 and a matching motherboard with an older type of RAM. The backup was made with Ghost 12 – I had no idea that it had become obsolete. I bought a new computer with two SATA drives. Apparently IDE drives and matching motherboards boards are no longer made. I booted from the SRD but the machine couldn't see the USB drive. I installed Windows 7 and then it could see the USB drive when I booted from the SRD. I told to restore the C drive after which it wouldn't boot from the drive. I subsequently chatted with Symantec support who told me that if I installed the appropriate Ghost application on the new machine it would be possible to restore from my USB drive. The agent insisted that in the whole of Symantec there was not a single remaining copy of any version of ghost… I managed to find a "Try and buy" copy of Ghost 15. Will this work? If not what can I do? The chatline agent did not know the answer to these questions and referred me to this forum. David3.9KViews0likes27CommentsRansomware - Encrypted backups
Hi Guys, one of the servers have been hit with ransomware, they have encrypted all files and folders including the last good backup, there is no offsite backup and this is the real only hope to get our info back. The backup was done the night before the attack and no further backups have taken place. All files are now encrypted with .roger extension I can rename the files back to readable .v2i format, but when trying to open them it fails, not sure if they corrupted or if just not doing it right. Are there other tools out there that can retrieve content information of .v2i backups? Hoping for good news...Thanks in advance748Views0likes1CommentSystem recovery E-Mail notifcation

Hi all, I have installed on my VM (Windows Server 2016) VSR Management Solution 21 and now I would like to create some backup policies to centrally manage backup. However, I am not able to create any backup policy - when I click on "create" string I got this error message - 404 Not Found We are sorry but we could not find what you were looking for - see attached picture 1. I have no idea what is wrong and how to troubleshoot this issue. It is completely weird as I am able to add new client computers to MS and I can deploy VSR plug in to client computers. Do you have any suggestion what to check? Could it be an issue with the database server? Should I apply NFR license for example? Are there any associated logs? Thanks for any help.Solved2.1KViews0likes7CommentsConvert v2i to vhd

I was glad to see the long awaited System Recovery 2013 R2 SP4 version out today so I downloaded it and thought I'd get right to testing it on my first system. Unfortunatly, I cannot even install the product. I'm trying to install on a system with the following characteristics: ------------ Intel Core i7 Processor 32GB RAM Boot Drive is a 500GB SSD OS is Windows 10 with the November 2015 update, 64-Bit ------------ I launch the install by running "browser.exe". I get the initial welcome screen with the various elements such as Getting Started, Installation, etc. At this point I click on "Install Now". At this point a screen opens that says "Loading the install. Please wait..." but within about 2 seconds the screen disappears and nothing more happens. Note that there is no error message, the program just seems to go away completely and the "Setup Launcher" disappears from the task list if I'm monitoring it while I attempt the install. As a test, I tried the install on a Windows 7 system and it worked perfectly. Is this possibly a problem with the November Update to Windows 10? I sure hope that we don't have to wait for another update that supports the November Update :-) Anyone else having any better luck than me?Solved6.3KViews2likes47Commentsmoving data from unused area
Hi, I'm wondering what exactly SSR2013 is doing when it's at 99% done and stalled seemingly forever at "Moving data from unused area?" There's no indication of how long this will take, and I'm just sitting here thinking of things to do. I can't really leave the system for any length of time because it might finish the crive copy at any moment. So I'm just stuck here grumbling. What I can't understand is what data there is in an unused area. If it's unused, then why is the date important to me, and why do I have to wait interminably while it is moved? Why can't there be some kind of progress indicator so I can know where I am in the process? GaryK3.3KViews0likes20Comments
