NetBackup 7.6.1 / 2.6.1 - MSDP Conversion
After going through the 'pain' of MSDP conversion when moving appliances from 2.5.x to 2.6.0.x, whereby I saw conversion taking anywhere from 4hrs to 27hrs, I was surprised to see the conversion is required AGAIN when moving from NBU 7.6.0.3 to 7.6.1. I have only performed this upgrade in my test lab which has very little data in the MSDP pool, and is WIndows based NOT an appliance - but I am assuming this will also be the case when moving the appliances from 2.6.0.x to 2.6.1. Has anyone moved an appliance to 2.6.1 yet, and if so is the MSDP conversion a similar duration to that when moving from 2.5.x to 2.6.0.x ? As I mentioned my MSDP pool is tiny in the lab and conversion only took a minute or so. Thanks, AJ1.8KViews4likes11CommentsSymantec 5230 Appliance - Disk Space Warning Message
I am receiveing an emailalert (Warning) each morning relating to disk space utilisation on the de-dup pool in my 5230 Appliance (which is at 80%) and wish to raise the threshold for the warning to 85%. The appliance is sitting steady at 80% so I am not too concerned. Where can I change the limit ? Thanks, AJSolved1.6KViews3likes3CommentsSNMP configuration for 5020-DeDupe appliance & 5220-MSDP

I have configured one of my 5200's as a master server and put it in our dr site. Im am using AIRand import SLP's to replicate the data to the DR appliance. SinceI upgraded mydatacenters netbackup to 7.5 importsfor my cataloge backups are failing. Support has already confirmed thisis a bug and will befixed in the next release (7.5)of the appliance. SoI have stopped replication of the cataloge backups. But... My issue is the originalfailing imports will not stop retrying. This has been going on for weeks and i cant seem to figure out how to stop them on the appliance. I've ran commands in the past for my windows NBU master serve to get jobs to start but this is my first go around with an appliance. Does any one know how to kill these jobs? Each one shows the same info in them and theyhave been retryingfor weeks now. Thanks.Solved1.7KViews3likes3Commentsopscenter port

My environment consists of several ESXi hosts with lots of VM's, complete with several RDMs. I've got a NetBackup appliance 5230 version 2.5.3 as master/media. According to the VMware Administrators guide, "Install a NetBackup client on the virtual machine. You can configure NetBackup to back up the virtual machine and any RDMs as if the client was installed on a physical host. Without Snapshot Client software on the virtual machine, the features of Snapshot Client are not available." I've got a VMWare backup policy defined which is successfully backing up VM's in my environment. I duplicated the policy for a test vm with a rdm attached. The VM is backing up (with the SYMCnbclient installed), but the RDM isn't included. What am I missing here?Solved907Views2likes2CommentsSymantec Netbackup appliance

Dear all, I have read through a number of posts on the forums, all of which had been very helpful. However, I could do with more advice on the above subject. I will provide a brief summary of the work. Summary: The existing backup system consists of two master(media) servers each using a Quantum PX500 autoloader using DLT tapes. Each server is located at separate sites and are installed with Netbackup 6.5.5. These servers are to be replaced with two 5220 appliances running Netbackup 7.5.0.5. Both of the appliances have disk storage. In addition, one server has a HP Ultrum5 tape. The objective is to migrate the backed up data from the existing systems to the replacement systems. Effectively, the data on the current DLTs needs to be copied to the newappliances. The appliances will be configured in line with the existing serversin terms of policies. The existing calaogue will need to be restored on the new appliances. I appreciate this is a summary of the objective and doesn't include the tasks necessary to complete this work. I would appreciate it if you would comment on this post. Best regards, AlfSolved1.1KViews2likes5Comments
