Editing Host file on Netbackup 5520 appliance
I could do with some help on what options are available to add entries to the host file on the 5520 appliance. I am familiar with using the CLISH and navigating to >>Network from the main menu and the using the following command: hosts add 10.0.0.1 nbutest.nbappliance.lab nbutest host show - will provide an output of information in the file. Is there anyway to access the the host file by going through Support>>Maintenance(Enter Password)>>Elevate I believe you can drop in to the normal Linux directory structure and navigate to \usr\openv\netbackup... But where is the host file located and what is is called since most Linux articles seem to refer to \etc\hosts I have tried to use vi and view the hosts & hosts.conf files located in the \usr\openv\netbackup\bin directories, but they do not seem to list the same info as what I see when running hosts show through CLISH. Any assistance would be appreciated with the above. Thanks In Advance9.5KViews0likes5CommentsUpgrading Multiple 5220 Appliances
I have the following upgrade scenario with NBU and 5220 appliances, and am wondering how much of this I can perform concurrently. Windows 2008R2 Master Server - recently upgraded to NBU 7611 - all OK 5220 Media Server 1 (72TB) - 2.5.3 5220 Media Server 2 (36TB) - 2.5.3 I am moving the appliances to 2611 and am wondering do I have to stop all activity on Master and both appliances and upgrade them consecutively or can I stop all activity and upgrade the two appliances at the same time ? They are both Media ONLY, and the Master is already at 7611 so there should be no version issues. Thanks, AJ.Solved1.9KViews1like8CommentsSpurious Alerts following Appliance Upgrade to 2.7.2
I have recently upgraded a number of 5230 Appliances to 2.7.2, and whilst all appear to be functioning as expected we are getting numerous alerts relating to disk failures which are 'false'. I am wondering whether there is a BIOS issue here (mismatch) ? Two questions: 1. How can I display the current BIOS level without rebooting the appliance ? 2. Is there a required BIOS update to be applied 'outside' of the regular software/firmware package used for 2.7.2 ? Thanks, AJ.1.9KViews1like4CommentsPower8 - netbackup integration

Hi guys, I just create a zone between AIX (LPAR), 5230 appliance and a storage like this As you can the AIX server has two FC adapter each one belongs to a zone, but sometimes I lose visibility from netbackup so I have to go to the client and run cfgmgr command or even restart clients services. Then on AIX server I run some commands like this root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>lsdev -Cc tape The output Im getting is: rmt0 Available 42-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt1 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt2 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive [root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>tail It is normal to get "Other FC SCSI Tape drive". Should I install a Veritas driver o something like that?574Views0likes1CommentIs there a way to monitor the health of the 5230 appliance?
in NetBackup 52xx and 5330 Appliance SNMP Trap Reference Guide - 2.7.1 Appendix A "Note: Although the MIB file includes software traps, they are not used. NetBackup Appliance does not currently send any software traps." Since the 52xx appliances do not send SNMP traps (although the MIBS are defined) is there a way to monitor the appliance health like CPU/Memory load, disk space etc.? Is it possible to install e.g. CA NIMSOFT agent on the appliance? Can I schedule a crontab job to send health information?1.9KViews1like2CommentsREplication between Veritas appliance and HP

Hi there, I've got a netbackup appliance 5230 software version 2.6.1.1. I wanted to migrate it to 2.6.1.2 but I realized there is a "clean up work in post-upgrade" since I updated it time ago and I can't download the new version. I tried to cancel it using putty from Manage>Software but I'm not able to find out how to do that. How can I stop it? Is there any risk? Thanks in advance for your help.Solved2.1KViews0likes8Comments
