Generative AI Fundamentals: In the Generative AI development process, understanding the distinctions between pre-training, fine-tuning, and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) is crucial for efficient resource allocation and achieving targeted results. Here’s a comparative analysis for a practical perspective: Pre-training: • Purpose: To create a versatile base model with a broad grasp of language. • Resources & Cost: Resource-heavy, requiring thousands of GPUs and significant investment, often in millions. • Time & Data: Longest phase, utilizing extensive, diverse datasets. • Impact: Provides a robust foundation for various AI applications, essential for general language understanding. Fine-tuning: • Purpose: Customize the base model for specific tasks or domains. • Resources & Cost: More economical, utilizes fewer resources. • Time & Data: Quicker, focused on smaller, task-specific datasets. • Impact: Enhances model performance for particular applications, crucial for specialized tasks and efficiency in AI solutions. RAG: • Purpose: Augment the model’s responses with external, real-time data. • Resources & Cost: Depends on retrieval system complexity. • Time & Data: Varies based on integration and database size. • Impact: Offers enriched, contextually relevant responses, pivotal for tasks requiring up-to-date or specialized information. So what? Understanding these distinctions helps in strategically deploying AI resources. While pre-training establishes a broad base, fine-tuning offers specificity. RAG introduces an additional layer of contextual relevance. The choice depends on your project’s goals: broad understanding, task-specific performance, or dynamic, data-enriched interaction. Effective AI development isn’t just about building models; it’s about choosing the right approach to meet your specific needs and constraints. Whether it’s cost efficiency, time-to-market, or the depth of knowledge integration, this understanding guides you to make informed decisions for impactful AI solutions. Hi all, I have to shutdown our Hardware for a while. Now I'm looking for the best way to do that. I have two storage SAN's connected to two hardware micosoft clusternodes(Windows Server 2003) with VEA 3.2. I will shutdown the sytsems this way: 1. passive Cluster node 2. aktiv cluster node 3. first san controller 4. second san controller 5. both storage's 6. FB switche and the restart this way: 1. FB switche 2. both storage's 3. both storage san controller 4. both cluster node's Are there any things i have to regard? Do the VEA start the to resync after the restart for hours? or it will only reconnect. I hope you can help me. Thank you!1.8KViews0likes3CommentsList of NetBackup Blueprints...

Hi, As above really! We are backing up our servers using BE definedpassphrase (256 bit AES encryption) on our LTO5/6 drives. We are going to start supporting an external company and rather than dedicate separate media sets (And tapes)to this company what we want to do is the following: Setup their jobs to append to our tapes using our current encryption key In the extremely unlikely scenario that they want a copy of their backups I do not want to give them our tapes (Just incase they get into our data). So what I want to do is duplicate their backup sets onto an unencrypted tape. When I select a backup set and select the Duplicate option there is an option about encryption which Symantec mentions can be used to encrypt unencrypted backup sets. It also mentions that if a different encryption key is specified only unencrypted data will be encrypted with this key. So I am wondering if I select no encryption will it simply make an encrypted copy, or will it make an unencrypted copy?Solved1.5KViews0likes4Comments
