Restore physical Windows machine in VMware using System recovery 2013
Hi, I'm new to Backup & Restore portfolio and trying to get some hands on System Recovery. I've installed a trial version of Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 on my Windows 8.1 laptop and created a entire backup of laptop on USB hard drive in a folder named Symantec Backup. Now using this back up I want to create a Virutal machine in Vmware. Can someone guide me on this.900Views0likes1CommentSSR 2013 R2 - How to rotate 2 External USB drives -- Incrementally
Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 11.1.2.54477. Win 7 Internal Data disk "F". I need to Incrementally backup to EXTERNAL USB drive "E" that I rotate on a weekly basis. I have 2 external drive. Each label "E - SSR Backup". I need to rotate between the two drives on a weekly basis. That is Week 1 - Full plus daily incrementally backup to drive 1. Week 2 -- Full plus daily incrementally backup to drive 2. Week 3 - only incrementally (changes made in week 2 + new changes in week 3) backup to drive1. Week 4 - only incrementally (changes made in week 3 + new changes in week 4) backup to drive 2. Week 5 - only incrementally (changes made in week 4 + new changes in week 5)backup to drive 1. etc. I read that SSR 2013 R2 should be able to do this. Hello, I am wondering what the best solution would be for the following: I have on Citrix Xen Server host that has 7 virtual machines on it. I am currently using PHD Virtual to back this up to a NAS. I am looking to move to different software for the backups. One of the virtual machines is running SQL and one is running AD and DNS. There is also one physical server that has AD, DNS, and DHCP on it that i would also like to back up in the same solution. What i was curious about is what is the best way to back all of this up? Is it Back Up Exec or System Restore? Or would neither work? I am looking for something that will back up to the existng NAS and allow for item level restores as well as fast restores of full VM's if ever needed. Second question is, assuming one of the two products will work is it best practice to install it on its own server or could it be installed on teh physical that is existing with AD, DNS and DHCP? I am assuming its own server and that is what i would shoot for, but for the sake of saving money i like to know my options. Thank you for your assistance.Solved1.2KViews0likes2Commentsrestore registry of regedit

Hi I have installed symantec system recovery 2013 on a windows 2012 server. It is doing a nightly backup to an external 1/2 TB drive. This is a full backup with incrementals and is set to create a new recovery point weekly. I have told it to automatically optimize storage and set a limit of 400 GB so as to leave some head room for safety sake. The issue that i'm experiencing is that it will run for a few days then i will start getting failure notifications saying: "Date: 29/09/2014 23:09:03 Notification Type: Info Priority: High Description: Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'The operation was canceled by the user.' Info 6C8F1C2F: Recovery point creation for job 'Drive Backup of RECOVERY (*:\), OS (C:\), DATA (E:\)' was cancelled by the user. Details: The operation was canceled by the user." Clearly this is not being cancelled by the user, i believe the issue may be a size issue. I think that the optimization cannot happen unless there more than 1 full sets of backups with incrementals. Is this the issue? There is currently 40GB available before the size limit set comes into effect and the last set of incrementals totalled less than 5GB. I have tried deleteing and recreating the job but am getting the same issue. What are the rule of thumb recomendations for backup drives? Thanks in advance for any assistance.974Views0likes4CommentsHOW to automation test scripts of SSR 2013 to take the backup of file and folder.
