I have recently upgraded a number of 5230 Appliances to 2.7.2, and whilst all appear to be functioning as expected we are getting numerous alerts relating to disk failures which are 'false'. I am wondering whether there is a BIOS issue here (mismatch) ? Two questions: 1. How can I display the current BIOS level without rebooting the appliance ? 2. Is there a required BIOS update to be applied 'outside' of the regular software/firmware package used for 2.7.2 ? Thanks, AJ.1.9KViews1like4CommentsFailed to expand/resize AdvanceDisk in 5330 appliance
Issue: Unable to expand advance disk on Veritas 5330 appliance Steps Performed: >Added the Appliance Host entry in Master Server host file >FQDN and Short name of the Appliance was missing in the Master Server host file >Master Server services need to be rebooted - Pending All above steps were done on the basis of the veritas Article http://www.veritas.com/docs/000011143 > Rebooted the appliance via RMM Console (as per the article) >AdvanceDisk Resize changes reflected on Appliance only and the error is still the same as displayed in the attachment981Views0likes1CommentZoning Aix to Netbackup 5230
Hi guys, I just create a zone between AIX (LPAR), 5230 appliance and a storage like this As you can the AIX server has two FC adapter each one belongs to a zone, but sometimes I lose visibility from netbackup so I have to go to the client and run cfgmgr command or even restart clients services. Then on AIX server I run some commands like this root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>lsdev -Cc tape The output Im getting is: rmt0 Available 42-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt1 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt2 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive [root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>tail It is normal to get "Other FC SCSI Tape drive". Should I install a Veritas driver o something like that?561Views0likes1CommentHow to zone Vmware Datastore LUN to Backup Host
Dear Experts Master Server : Windows Media Server ( acting as appliance 5230 as well) : Linux Storage : Hitachi HUS Array Vmware backup failing with status 23 ( policy set to use SAN transport mode). I have gone through few good articles , but I can't find how to zone Vmware datastore LUN to Backup host /Appliance. In the environment only backups working which are on datastore_01, but other datastores like 02 - 05 won't work , failed with status 23. When I go on CLISH , Manage > FibreChannel > Show , I only see Device path and ID for datastore_01 only, so that tells me Datastore 02 - 05 must added here somehow, but how and from where , that is my question. In one of the article I read, below statement " Not just zoning the volumes to the appliance you need to add mapping for the volumes so that the actual datastore volumes are seen by the appliance " But how to do , what command, and from where need to do ? Please advise solution....2KViews0likes3CommentsAfter upgrade nbu5220 to 2.7.2, windows Java console can not login

Recently, I recieved an external drive from one of my remote sites with 5TB of data on it. I plugged it into one of my media servers and backed it up in NBU using msdp to another media/appliance server we will call it server 20. Now, I want to run a full backup from the external site but have NBU point to the data backed up from the external drive. I understand if I use the same dedupe pool as the backup from the external drive I can edit the pd.conf file on the server I am trying to run the full backup on to point to the data on the media server so it doesnt backup data already present. However, when I try to use the same dedupe pool on media/appliance server 20 I get the status code 58. But I am able to telnet from the server to the appliance server all necessary ports are opened and if i change the storage policy there is no issue. How can I get this to work?
