Veritas Risk Advisor: Working with tickets
Veritas Risk Advisor (VRA) is a data protection and downtime avoidance risk assessment solution. VRA lets you diagnose disaster recovery and high availability (clustering) problems (also called “gaps”) and optimize data protection and reduce risk of downtime. VRA scans your environment and alerts you to any potential gaps, best practice violations, or service level agreement (SLA) breaches. What is a ticket? When VRA detects a gap in your disaster recovery and/or high availability, it issues a ticket. The ticket specifies the problem and the environment entities associated with that problem. For example, VRA can identify: Critical data that is not protected properly. Standby hosts that do not have access to the replicated data. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) that are too strict or too lenient. Inconsistent access to storage by cluster nodes. Searching for tickets The VRA Tickets module lets you filter the list of tickets in your system to find a specific ticket or ticket type. After VRA displays your query search results, you can: Group the results by criteria that you specify. Drill down to see ticket details. View the network topology related to the ticket in the Topology module. Group the results by criteria that you specify. A full description of the ticket is provided, including an explanation of the problem and the items in your environment that are involved. The impact on your system is also shown with suggestions on how to resolve the ticket. Working with tickets You can perform a variety of operations on a ticket during its lifecycle. Mark the ticket as resolved. The next time VRA scans your system, it will consider this issue closed. Suppress a ticket. A suppressed ticket indicates that you are aware of this problem, but you do not want to be informed about it again during the next full system scan. Open the Topology module. You can open the topology module displaying the items relevant to the ticket. Add a note to a ticket. You can add a note to a ticket that describes it in more detail. You can filter by note text to make it easier to find a specific ticket(s). Add a star rating to indicate its level of important. (One star is the lowest ticket rating and five stars the highest.) You can then sort your tickets by rating to quickly see your most important issues. You can also perform operations on multiple tickets. Hi TEam, I have an output of the hastatus which is attached, It shows ClusterService online in 35th system and rest of the system shows Clusterservice Offline however, Service group POWERCENTERSERVICEMANAGER shows online in all systems 35,36,37,38,39,40. I am unable to get it why the Service groupshows online in all the other systems when only 35th system ClusterService is online and rest others are offline. The Storage Foundation for Databases (SFDB) commands use the vxdbd daemon to run privileged commands. For example, a database administrator is allowed to run commands for creating snapshots using the SFDB scripts. In addition, SFDB uses the daemon to establish communication between the host and the SFDB repository that is deployed on a different host. To run the vxdbd daemon in the authenticated mode, log in as a superuser (root) and authenticate the daemon. After the authentication process is successful, the SFDB tools communicate with the daemon through the authenticated user. For more information see: Configuring vxdbd for SFDB tools authentication Adding nodes to a cluster that is using authentication for SFDB tools Authorizing users to run SFDB commands Generally, the vxdbd daemon is configured to automatically start when the system does. However, if the daemon fails to start or is unresponsive, you can manually start and stop vxdbd using the /opt/VRTS/bin/sfae_config script. This script can also determine the status of the daemon. Hello All, We have a Veritas cluster server setup (VCS-HA,VCS-CFS & VERITAS-RAC) where on few setup we required to change the data IP address of some host(node). I refer few notes but not sure except /etc/hosts is there any file need to update/edit. Please help me if you have any process/technote to make those change & make that changed IP persistant. Team, During a database activity, we did not freeze the cluster due to some reason,the listener went down due to the activity however database team has confirmed that DB is up and online. Initially, when i tried to check the faulted resource it was not showing.But, when I tried to clear and online the listener resource, it went to Waiting_to_online and then it failed. Hi Team, We have to replace DIMM on the passive node in which VCS services is currently not running.The cross over LLTcables is badly hanged wih each other and Symantec engineer told us that he will manage the cable issue and no require to down the active node. Kindly guide step by step procedure for this activity,also please suggest the prerequisities before starting this activity.
