Split Brain in GCO
I was just testing this in my VMWare workstation. I configured two nodes as in my primary DC servers, providing HA for SQL2005 on Windows 2008 R2 (x64). I also configured a single node cluster as in my DR site. Both of the cluster are connected using Global Cluster Option. Data is being replicated using Veritas Volume Replicator. All the above have win 2008 R2 Std edition as the OS. Have configured HA-DR using Storage Foundation - High Availability & Disaster Recovery 6.0. I'm facing issue with the following scenario : 1)I'm able to switchover the Service Group across the site. And also come back to primary site. 2)I keep the Service Group at primary nodes, and now forcefully shutdown the OS. At DR site VCS prompts me to take action and makes the Service Group come online at DR site. 3)Now i manually bring up the nodes at primary site (but im confused what steps to be taken to make the "previously primary" site to act as the new secondary. If i just manually start the SG , i end up making both the sites as primary site . ... How do i make the role reversal afte the primary site has come up. Hi, My customer has a valid support contract for Symantec VRTS Storage Foundation 6.0 for Windows. She has registered her porduct licences with her SymAccount. When she tries to log a support case online through https://my.symantec.com/webapp/faces/custcare?casetype=cc, she gets the following error: "Please fill a valid Product Version". I also tried it with her credentialsmanty timestrying different forms of product and version information but we could not achive to create our support case. I think ıt should not be so hard for creating a support case for a product with a valid support aggreement. I appreciate if anyone can help us to find the correct "Product Version" for logging our support case. best regards, SukruSolved1.6KViews2likes4CommentsSF Basic missing features?
Hi! Just trying out SF Basic on a freshly-built Windows 2008 R2 Standard server. The GUI installer won't allow me to check any of the features except the one to replace the Windows storage MMC. According to the SF 6.0 compatability guide, the array I'm using, an IBM DS3524, is supported, and Windows 2008 R2 is definately supported. The docs on the Basic version would seem to imply that DMP is included, too. I'm logged in with administrator rights (and have tried it logging in directly as the Administrator, too...). The MPIO feature is installed in the Windows Server Manager. Any idea why I can't install DMP, or any of the other features? The web page http://www.symantec.com/business/storage-foundation-basic clearly indicates that Dynamic Multipathing is part of the package... If DMP isn't part of SF Basic anymore, what's the advantage to use of SF? Are there any performance benefits anymore over the standard vendor DSM and Windows LDM? Thanks! -BenSolved1.5KViews2likes7CommentsStorage Foundation 6 and Windows 2003 MS Clustering

Hello all, we are using SFW 5.1 SP1 with VM (running Win2K3 SP2 R2) supported by ESX3.5U5. These VM are clustered and share disks are RDM mirrored (using SFW) disk. their system disks are mirrored also (still using SFW) but stored as vmdk (datastore located on our SAN storage). We encounter random VM freeze: the VM can be pinged but it is impossible to connect on it (neither RDP nor VCMS console). Does any one encoutered such a case ? Regards, D. I wonder if anyone here can assist with this problem. We have a backup server which uses SFW5.0 which has a FC SAN connected o it. When we reboot the server it loses its File Share which we use to save all our backups to. The file share is located on a single volume, on an imported disk group. The volume comes up fine, but the share is always missing when we reboot. The only thing we can think of is that we had to implement a latestart on the Vertias service because it wasn't importing the disks correctly without this. Our feeling is that it might be to do with Microsoft waiting for the disk volume, when it doesn't see it, it stops trying to share the folder, perhaps because it is coming in so late as a result of the latestart. Has anyone encountered this or have a workaround to keep the shared folder coming up on reboots? NickSolved4.7KViews1like5Comments
