Hi, I am newbi to VCS. OS is Solaris10. Two node cluster env. New filesystem already created and mounted with dedicated Vertual IP and is already under VCS. We have added two more Vol's (Vol03 & Vol04) in the existing Resource Group say 'node1_rg' Guys, please help me out to know the sequential and step by step procedure with commands to take the newly created Volumes under existing Resource Group......and how to carry out the Failover Test. this is a test server on which we need to do the task. Oracle Database is also there and we can coordinate with App & DBA team to do this activity...... Pleaseeeeeeee help. this is first time I had been to this forum seeking the help... When the application failover happens in VMware Guest enviorments, the VCS is responsible for failing over the application to other vm/vcs node on diffrent ESX host. In a scenario where the ESX/ESXi host itself faults, the VCS agents begin to fail over the application to the failover target system that resides on another host. The VMwareDisks agent communicates with the new ESX/ESXi host and initiates a disk detach operation on the faulted virtual machine. The agent then attaches the disk to the new failover target virtual machine. In this senario, how are the stale i/o from failing over guest/ESX host avoided? Are we on the mercy of VMware to take care of it? With SCSI3 PR this was the main problem that was solved. Moreover in such senario's even a garceful online detach wouldnt have gone through. I didnt find any references on VMware discussions forums as well. My customer wants to know about it, before he can deploy the application. We have 6 guest OS (redhat 6.3) on 3 physical machine running VMware ESX5.0,each physical machine has 2 VMs. And SFCFSHA has been installed. The fencing disks are three 1GB LUN from physical arrays via VMware RDM physical mode. but vxfentsthdw test shows: Testing quanziweb01 /dev/vx/rdmp/ibm_ds8x000_0088 quanziweb02 /dev/vx/rdmp/ibm_ds8x000_0088 Evaluate the disk before testing ........................ Unregistration from one node is causing unregistration of keys from the other node. Disk is not SCSI-3 compliant on node quanziweb02. Execute the utility vxfentsthdw again and if failure persists contact the vendor for support in enabling SCSI-3 persistent reservations ================================================================================ I'm sure that the three 1GB LUN from the disk array support SCSI-3 persistent reservations IF used in physical machines. But why they do not support SCSI-3 PR when used in VMware ESX virtual machines? Is there any up-to-date official guide for configuring I/O fencing for VCS/CFS on VMware ESX? We have install SFHA 5.1SP1RP3 in Solaris 10 update 10. When we configure the VCS zone agent to handle the Solaris 9 Branded Zone. It can online, offline the Solaris 9 Branded Zone in SFHA, but we see that Online the zone in agent, it show boot single user mode first, and then reboot to multi user mode. After boot in multi user mode, it is normal in VCS. Is that any solution for boot multi user mode only?Solved2.6KViews0likes17Commentsstartup/shutdown of Oracle inside non-global zone, Solaris 10, VCS 5.1
Hi there, I'm looking for advice regarding configuring automated startup/shutdown of an Oracle 11.2 database within a zone on Solaris. The file systems for the oracle db are VxVM, dependencies are in place so that the DG and all volumes are mounted prior to starting the zone which is configured to loopback mount the volumes in the global. Question is - how do I gracefully start/stop the db when on/offlining the zone resource? I'm guessing some post-online and pre-offline scripts but this doesn't seem like it could be the most elegant solution. If there is no other way, if anyone has any links to examples, info, documented efforts etc, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance.Solved2.4KViews1like13Commentsdifferences between Symantec ApplicationHA for Vmware and Symantec High Availability Solutions Guide for VMware
