Can I upgrade from BESR 2010 9.0.2.37914 to BESR 2013 R2 11.1.2.54477??
This is for Symantec System Protection aka Backup Exec System Recovery... We are presently on a 2010 version, I don't know which SP... And I want to upgrade it to System Protection 2013 SP2... It is a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64-bit server. Thank you, TomSolved1.4KViews11likes4CommentsRestore wizard?
Next problem... I am now trying to do a restore and even this is not an easy task! When I start the restore wizard it lists all of the backup files, in no particular order, image attached. I now have to go through 1000 backup files one by one to see the contents to locate the latest backup of a file! Surely this cannot be right.
Vielen Dank schon mal! Every once in a while I run into a situation where I could really use a better filter than "contains" or "starts with" in job history. I note there is a "matches" option, but there is no documentation on the syntax of it, an my attempts to use it have always ended with no results and frustration. So, does anyone know how to use the "matches" option in job history filters? Backup Exec 2012 SP4.Solved1.9KViews7likes7CommentsWindows thick console 7.5 - no way to backup/restore servers?? Also issue with Russian characters in file names
We have come across an issue using the JAVA console (either on UNIX or Windows) where files with Russian characters in the file name are not being correctly named in NetBackup. The file names are being created similar to H2TV30~1. This make trying to restore a file an Indiana Jones type of adventure. 3 days of Googling, and all I can find is one post where someone said Symantec told them to use the Windows thick console and it should display file names with Russian characters fine. OK, so I finally got the Windows thick console up and running (BTW - the console and the client share registry settings. We were backing up the server that I installed the console on via the public NIC, but our master server only listens on the private NIC - in order to get both working, had to set the client to back up through the private NIC!). So I get it installed, fire it up, and it looks almost identical to the JAVA client - ALMOST! There is no Backup, Archive, and Restore function right above the Activity Monitor! Only thing I can find is the button on the toolbar, and that ONLY brings up the client to backup/restore the client the console is installed on! Is there no way to backup and restore all of your servers through the Windows thick console like you do through the JAVA console? We are running the master and media server on UNIX. And also, anyone have any inputs on the Russian character thing?Solved1.4KViews7likes9CommentsMultiple Forders in BEData Folder

Hi, We recenty have a space crunch issue on our disk pool. So as a temporary resolution we want to expire the images which are on disk and has already been duplicated to tape by SLP. We take backups on SLP where in we have set the settings as the backups to stay on disk for a month and then duplicate to tape. Now we have changed the setting in SLP to expire after duplication, But i was wondering that there might be images on disk that have already been duplicated to tape but not yet expired because we have specified it to stay on disk for a month. Please help with your valuable suggestions.Solved1KViews6likes9CommentsStep by step guide for AIR on DataDomain
Dear All, It seems I'm missing a lot of things after reading NBUAdmGuide_I and DDOSAdmGuide. I'm trying to set up AIR using DD's replication, but it is not working for me. I'm not stating that the cause of this AIR not working is on my NBU servers; I'm still searching. Now to the details. What I have is: - NBU7.6.0.1 Master/Media as a Source. The same for the Destination. - DataDomains and DDBoost working properly on both sides (Source and Destination). - Regular backup policies writing on DD1 on the source side. Also regular backup policies writing on DD2 on the destination side. - A SLP on the source which first writes as usual and then duplicates the recently created backup image to a special DD1 DDBoost storage unit. - A SLP on the destination which has only an import operation defined. During my tests that import operation used either the regular DD2 DDBoost storage unit and the DD2 DDBoost storage unit that is supposed to receive the replicated backup images from DD1 (by means of DataDomain replication technology). Sympthoms: - NBU_Source writes on DD1, both on the regular DDBoost storage unit and on the DDBoost storage unit which is defined as the source for the DataDomain replication. - NBU_Destination doesn't even blink an eye after the duplication has been done on the Source. OK, I'm not entirely sure that the resulting files on Source are really being duplicated to Destination (speaking about DD layer here), but, can I be sure that my configuration is right on both NBUs? I'm going a little bit crazy with this, since Symantec's documentation seems to be more devoted to MSDP than to OpenStorage API-compliant devices. Many, many thanks in advance for your help/ideas/suggestions. Ciao -- PepeSolved12KViews6likes17Comments
