LTO5 tape is showing incorrect capacity
Hi There, I'm new to this forum, I use Backup Exec 2010 with an IBM LTO5 tape drive and we have three tapes that are showing a capacity of 35.4gb. If I try to use them it does indeed become full after 35.4gb. I've tried a full erase and everything I can think of and they're stuck at this capacity. I know it's only 3 tapes, not the end of the world... But I'm really curious as to what has happened to them. They weren't new, I think they came with the drive and had been opened. Any insight greatly appreciated!991Views0likes6CommentsError EC8F17B7 along with Error ED800012: (CRC Validation) is invalid & Error E4F3000E: Snapshot failure while using Volume Shadow Copy Service
Hi I am trying to backup a PC using SSR2013 (Desktop ed). I have created a custom backup job to run on schedule but the backup continuously fails. I find the following error in the event log afterwards: Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of (C:\), (D:\). Error E4F3000E: Snapshot failure while using Volume Shadow Copy Service. Please check application event log for VSS errors. Error code: VSS_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (-2147212536). (UMI:V-281-3215-6071) After running the job manually, I find the following in the event log: Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of (C:\). Error ED800012: The internal structure of the recovery point file (CRC Validation) is invalid, damaged or unsupported. (UMI:V-281-3215-6071) I have been trying a few solutions found on the Symantec website regarding these errors, but have not received any good results. I have also not found a solution that relates to SSR2013... Thanks Zaid3.8KViews0likes16CommentsUsing RestoreShortcutBody for EV http to https change
Hi To change an existing EV server from the default http to https will require a number of things - firstly I need to change it in the EV site properties, then I need to change IIS and finally I need to run the RestoreShortcutBody for all mailbox users. The EV environment is currently running EV11.0.1 having been upgraded periodically over the years from the initial install on EV7. It;s just a single EV server doing Exchange mailbox archiving only for about 1500 mailboxes. Retention category is for 7 years and storage expiry is enabled. I get how the users shortcuts will fail as soon as the https change is made but not entirely sure how the RestoreShortcutBody registry setting detects that the https change has taken place and update all the existing shortcuts - but I'll assume it gets the infromation somehow (from the setting in the EVsite properties I guess). But is it the case that I just need to update the registry setting on the EV server and EV will then proceed to make the https changes in the shortcuts without any further prompting? Secondly I also understand there is a big impact when RestoreShortcutBody runs on both the EV server and the Exchange servers as new shortcuts mean new messages written to every single users mailbox...... and it's recommended to do this is batches by running shortcut processing on small numbers of mailboxes at a time. I'm trying to determine a suitable strategy here that will cause the least end user impact and could do with some ideas if possible: 1) When I make the change to https then every user is impacted straight away - therefore to minimise this I need to restore the shortcut body as fast as possible.... so perhaps doing batches is not the best way forward and a big bang approach is better? 2) I'd like to pilot the process so can I make the change on a temp basis over a weekend for a couple of test mailboxes, run the restoreshortcutbody to make sure the procedures are working and then change it back before Monday morning? This would also give me a chance to review the impact on the application servers which the shortcut updates are being made so I can calculate the time to complete all the users etc. 3)Is there a way that EV and\or IIS can be configured to allow both http and https to be accepted when opening shortcuts so users that have not yet had the shortcuts updated will still be able to open archived items? I can then turn off http when all the users have been updated - just leaving https enabled? 4)If i do decide to go with a 'batches' approach I guess I need to reconfigure the scheduled tasks not to do shortcut processing when archiving items overnight as this will effectively apply the restoreshortcutbody setting to all the users anyway. thanks in advance for any thoughts on how to approach this.Solved1.7KViews0likes9CommentsCan I use Ghost to clone over the network?
So we have a network with about 200 workstations. Some are Win 7, some are Win XP and some are Win 2000. For the most part, each workstation has different applications running on it. The current issue is we have to STIG every one of them and are afraid we will end up breaking something. So the thought of cloning each one before we apply a GPO or regedit script came to mind. At least we can put the box back to the state it was prior to STIGing. Question: Can we use Ghost over the network to clone a box? And how easy will it be to get a box back to this image? Thanks, RaySolved623Views1like1CommentGhost freezes up at same place (2%) when restoring a disk
I am trying to restore a disk using Ghost, and Ghost freezes up after only 2% restored (on multiple tries). Here are the details. I am trying to restore the E: drive of a Fujitsu R610 computer running Windows XP Professional. I am using Ghost 11 (booted off of a CD drive), and reading a 36.9-GB *.GHO file that is on a Western Digital (WD) USB drive, plugged into the CPU tower. The Fujitsu internal disks and the WD USB disk are all NTFS disks. I am running Ghost with the command: ghost> ghost -forceusb Each time I run it, the Ghost menu just freezes after only 697-705 MB have been restored (which is only about 2% of the data to be restored). Once it freezes, none of the numbers change in the Ghost status menu (waiting over an hour), and there is no way to exit. (The Tab, Return, and Esc keys do nothing in this state.) i had to then force a power-down by holding in the power button. I was able to use Ghost 11 to successfully restore the C: drive and the D: drive. When I initially backed up the E: drive, I created two equivalent *.GHO files, by running ghost "to disk" twice. Both *.GHO files had identical byte sizes, and Ghost completed without errors, so the *.GHO files seem to be OK. When I tried to restore using the second *.GHO file, ghost froze at the same place (after 697-705 MB). The internal E: drive is 72 GB, so it has plenty of room. I did a SCSI boot and ran the SCSI disk check on the E: drive, and the internal disk passed. I even tried restoring the *.GHO file onto another Fusitsu R610 computer that had a 146 GB internal disk, an it froze at the same place (697-705 MB). This 36.9-GB *.GHO file is the largest *.GHO file that I ever tried to restore on a Fujitsu R610 computer using this version of Ghost. I am wondering if thete is some limit in the size of the *.GHO file when restoring with Ghost 11. Or maybe there is some limit that I am hitting due to the computer's RAM? Tomorrow I might try to get the computer to boot, and then copy the *.GHO file to the C: drive, so that I can run Ghost by reading and writing all from internal disks. Does anyone have any advice? (This is a very critical disk that I must restore.) Thanks.614Views0likes2CommentsSDLO 8 Desktop angent problem on Windows XP

I am using SSR 2013 on a Win XP system. I have installed all the components that were specified prior to SSR 2013 installation (WIN & .Net 4). Installation went smoothly with no errors reported. However, when I try to perform the initial backup, what usually takes 15 - 20 minutes is now taking 5 hours. This is being backed up on a local hard drive, NOT over the intranet. I would welcome any and all suggestions on how to correct this issue. Thank you503Views0likes2CommentsSymantec management Agent 7.5 not initialized on client
I have Symantec System Recovery Management Solution 2013 R2 running on windows server 2012. I have manually installed the Management Agent on an XP SP3 desktop. However the status is showing as Not inialized, the icon in the system tray has a red line through a circle. This means that the Agent is unable to communicate with the central console. I'd appreciate any help in troubleshooting, diagnosing the problem. I have attempted several installs, using local system account and a Domain admin account on various machines but am not getting a consistent experience. ie. sometimes it communicates with the central management server sometimes not.424Views0likes1CommentEV 11 and Windows XP with EV 10 plugin ?
