No resources seen after create Active directory domain
Hello Everyone, I am using Backup Exec 2010 R2 since 2012 in my Dell server with Operating system Windows Server 2008 R2. Recently I create Active directory domain server. After successful configuration of domain I realize that my backup job wizard is disconnected from server. I am unable to browse my computer in ‘backup job wizard’ in Backup Exec 2010. I have read couple of forum here to resolve my issue but every time when I go ‘backup job wizard’, it showing error “connection to server failed Hit <F5> to retry”. Now I really could not understand what to do. Really in big trouble..!! I have tired couple of step described below but not succeed . I am using my Administrator account for Backup Exec software. My Administrator account is default in Backup Exec. My Administrator account isdomain admin. My all Backup Exec services are running good. I have also tried Tools -->Backup Exec Services -->Service Credentials, and re-entered my service account information. Need to good assistance. Advance thanks for appreciation.Solved1.9KViews0likes14CommentsNIC Teaming Slow Throughput, any ideas?
Hey guys, We currently have 2Gig set up through NIC teaming for our backup exec setup. When we have backups running, it barely reaches 35-40% of the bandwith. I am using Backup Exec 2010. Has anyone else here set up NIC teaming before? What are some things that might cause slow performance? Are there any specific settings in Backup Exec that may help? Thanks!5.2KViews3likes9CommentsQuestion regarding Backup Exec Licensing
Hi all, I need to clarify how many backup exec licenses needed with this configuration: 2 windows server 2012r2 (servers A and B): 1) Server A (windows sever with gui): -Backup Exec Installed -Hyper-V with several VM: no exchange, no sql, etc. one of the VM is an Active Directory DC 2) Server B (windows sever with gui): -Hyper-V with severalVM:no exchange, no sql, etc.one of the VM is another Active Directory DC My backup needs are: a) Backup of the VM (complete backup; don't need granular restore of sql, exchange, neither Active Directory, only granular restores forfiles andfolders within the VM) b) Backup of one of the disks of server B (i have a shared folder) Shoul I buy 1 Backup Exec license and 1 Hyper-V agent? or 1 Backup agent + 1 Hyper-V agent + 1 windows agent? If I want Active Directory granular restore within one of the VM Domain Controllers I understand that I have to sum one license for application and database as well. Thanks in advance, JaimeSolved1.1KViews1like4CommentsBest solution to back up Citrix Xen Server
Hello, I am wondering what the best solution would be for the following: I have on Citrix Xen Server host that has 7 virtual machines on it. I am currently using PHD Virtual to back this up to a NAS. I am looking to move to different software for the backups. One of the virtual machines is running SQL and one is running AD and DNS. There is also one physical server that has AD, DNS, and DHCP on it that i would also like to back up in the same solution. What i was curious about is what is the best way to back all of this up? Is it Back Up Exec or System Restore? Or would neither work? I am looking for something that will back up to the existng NAS and allow for item level restores as well as fast restores of full VM's if ever needed. Second question is, assuming one of the two products will work is it best practice to install it on its own server or could it be installed on teh physical that is existing with AD, DNS and DHCP? I am assuming its own server and that is what i would shoot for, but for the sake of saving money i like to know my options. Thank you for your assistance.Solved3.5KViews0likes4CommentsBackup Exec Alert: Job Warning (Server: "DC-XXXXXXXX") An unknown application is deleting files from the following folder:

Hello, I havea colo site that will contain DR equipment. We have an audit process that requires us to POC the site before deployment. I am currently attempting to restore MY Primary Domain Controller by following the instructions listed here. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH83015&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1288726274344 I'm having some issues. After I createthe new recovery server with the same hardware specs as my old Primary DC. I run the restore job with the settings detailed in the above post within BUE 2012 the restore job completes succesffuly, then in the instructions it says just reboot the server. I do that and all I get is my same old recovery server with a few new folders added to it. I know I'm missing something in the instructions so my questions are, On the recovered server do I need to add the Active Directory sites and Services role before I do the BUE restore job? Why can't the server just restore to the exact state it was in from the backup I have, in my mind it would just reboot and then be my PDC with the new name, and login information and whatever basically a clone of my recovered server? Should I just do SDR? Do I have to do SDR to get the results I'm after ie.. just an exact replica of my old Primary Doman Controller? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just looking to udnerstand what I'm missing.1.3KViews0likes6CommentsReady to upgrade from version 2012 to 2014 (14.1.1786.0)

Hello everyone, We have a client with Backup Exec 2012 R3 in 6 different sites. The environment is Windows Server 2003/2008 R2, but this migrating different servers to Windows 2012 R2. As we all know , if we have a Windows Server 2012 R2 with the role of AD , we have a Media Server BE 2014 on a similar server. Given that managers of this company is not going to make the upgrade windows operating system on which is in production (Windows 2008 R2 ), my query is: What would be the recommended way to update the Media Server BE 2010 BE 2014 R3 to practice? My idea is : Make a normal upgrade from BE 2012 to BE 2014 R3 . Make a backup of the database ( BEDB ) and catalogs . Protect them off the server . Make new install the operating system to Windows 2012 R2. Install BE 2014 with a new installation . Import the database and catalogs of point 2 ) to the new environment BE. I 'm right ? Anyone know or has the correct procedure ? Ideas and experiences are heard ! Thank you very much !Solved712Views0likes2Comments
